I would salt but I fear that would leave a bad taste in someones mouth.
4th after 10 minutes.
I liked that one!
Speaking of gear projections, I think the ones in my brain may have melted in the heat, 'cuz I'm not getting anywhere.
I'm a doctor not a pool man!!!!!!
Hint: Don't limit yourselve to words actually found in the English language.
Ack... brain aching... thesaurus... wearing out... must solve...
This is a strange word, more commonly seen with an S on the end.
...
Salt: Don't ignore the request in the quote bubble.
Wow... 11th after 49 minutes?
I have a strange love for these demento types of puzzles.
Thanks Murdoctor!
I was stumped on the second one, but my son, who is going to college in the fall and spending his summer slacking, helped. He knew the answer right away. :-)
I have a theme, and I believe I have the 5 hint phrases figured out, I just can't figure out what to do with them.
# It took you 1 hour, 13 minutes and 33 seconds to solve this puzzle.
# You were the 19th Tanga member to solve this puzzle.
AGH! Finally! I was led astray by the obvious answers to #1 and #5, which made me look for a pattern that wasn't there. D'oh! I think it was the icepack on my head that finally got my brain working.
[8] I thought so too, but apparently it has another meaning germane to the puzzle.
"Strange" word? How about, *not* a word. This could have been a nice puzzle, but there's positively no excuse for having an answer that's not a word.
The answer is not word?
gee - what could I make up? grrrr
[15, 16] It is a word, although an esoteric, veterinary one that happens to look like the (incorrect) singular of a more common one. I agree that this could be misleading, since it appears to be an nonword. It took a minute before I even bothered trying it.
Well,
Even with the dose of salt on BGG I can't see any pattern that will give me a word that I recognize at all...
PB, take the clue words then look for something in the speech bubble that might help you with tangafication.
I'm with you leadfoot. Not sure if we are supposed to use the whole clue words or a part of the clue words to come up with the actual answer.
kswitz, part of the clue words.
thanks robrizob. That got it for me!
word
well I brute forced it - still don't know #4
-eh-
PB, it's from a recent series of films. Probably has something to do with that rock of yours :)
Bah!!! That is NOT the correct singular form of the word!!!
I don't agree with it simply because it is a medical term. BUT...I liked the puzzle anyway. Cute mechanic!
[25] robrizob
Yeah - this rock is pretty dense (like me).
BTW
Thanks to all who helped!
[26] I don't think anyone said it was the correct singular, just that it looked like the incorrect singular, which happens to mean something else entirely.
Nice puzzle
For some reason, I'm having a very hard time connecting the question with the rest of the puzzle.
Edit: I just had to take a second and relax.
not me
I now know why I stopped doing these.
Great.
I musta cheated . . . somehow
"It took you 4 minutes and 35 seconds to solve this puzzle.
You were the 118th Tanga member to solve this puzzle.
Average solve time: 45 minutes and 10 seconds. "
Don't think too much to solve this.
OK, I'll grant that it is, in some sense, a word. However, it's especially technical; it doesn't appear in, say, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate or Unabridged. The vast, vast majority of its appearances on the web are as typos, proper names, or other irrelevancies.
Once again, I fear there is no excuse.
That puzzle was evil.
I still don't get it, even with all the salt :(
GM me somebody?
The answer IS a word... and it is relevant to something mentioned in the puzzle.
For these harder puzzles, I often go for lesser-known words (or lesser-used spellings) to thwart guessing the answer without actually finding the solution.
I am so stupid, this was easy.
[33] Actually, it does appear in "Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary"... at least according to Dictionary.com
I think most people read the answer and think that it's trying to be a singular noun, but it's not. [38] is absolutely correct; look it up and it makes sense.
I am confused by everyone's saying this isn't a word. As soon as I got a few of the letters I figured it out based on the clue in the bubble... of course, I needed major salt to get the clues, but it's not like I had to look the final answer up anywhere because it related to the bubble clue.... After reading everyone's comments here I had to make sure I had actually solved it and not just dreamt that I solved it because everyone is complaining about it being some obscure word.
I've gotten all the clues but I am lost on the puzzle. I know I'm going to feel stupid when I figure this one out. Grrr... GM welcome...
salt at bgg
Thanks. I was right. I DO feel stupid...
I don't have a clue
I've got most of the words... still working on #4 but I'm stumped. I'm mashing them together and trying to tie in the bubble... but nothing. Any help?
BGG helped me get one but its NOT helping putting it together... the 'not a word' argument is just confusing me more.
[44] Cagedsoul, once you get some or all of the clues, you need to look in the speech bubble for something that will tell you which letter to take from the clues.
#4 is from a comedy i think, the clue bubble though obvious what to do with it would be really hard still because if you don't have all the words you think your wrong
Aargh...still not getting this. Solved the warm-up and crossword... I think I have the words and think I know what I'm supposed to do with it...but I ended up with OAOVE...
Not so good...
[47] aramaic
have you checked BGG?
That was absolutely ingenious. Great puzzle.
i'm new here and I don't have the SLIGHTEST clue as to how i'm supposed to arrive at any sort of answer from all that nonsense in the picture. all the salt hasn't helped a bit either.
and in fact i am a star trek fan. but i'm betting that has nothing to do with it.
[delete plz]
I solved this by getting a word that reminded me of the solution word....really a guess that I was surprised was correct. Oh well.
