The spaces are easy to fill in, but then I have no idea what to do with them afterward.

  2. FileAcecontrerasjoe on Dec 01, 2006 07:05 PM

I got 5 of the space but haven't figured out the rest yet.

  3. FileBananatheChony on Dec 01, 2006 07:06 PM

I can't figure out 'under dress'

  4. FileGrapestheokester on Dec 01, 2006 07:06 PM

I have all but one of them (I think they're right), but nothing's jumping out to me as to what to do.

Nor am I getting the "VC" reference.

    Hmmmm...

  5. FileGrapesxpsdude on Dec 01, 2006 07:07 PM

    I like "under dress". Funny.

  6. FileAppleTWhitsett on Dec 01, 2006 07:07 PM

I've got (I think) 7 of the 9 clues... I have NO idea what to do with them.

  7. FileGrapestheokester on Dec 01, 2006 07:08 PM

I'm stuck on the "face pole"

  8. FileAppleTWhitsett on Dec 01, 2006 07:08 PM

I'm missing face pole and under dress

  9. FileAcecontrerasjoe on Dec 01, 2006 07:08 PM

That's one I can't figure out either theo

  10. EdgewoodSailboatsplat169 on Dec 01, 2006 07:08 PM

    vertically narrow is eluding me

  11. Avatar_profilePeachUethym on Dec 01, 2006 07:09 PM

The funny thing is, I'm pretty sure I know what to do with the grid once it's full, but I can't get "under dress" or "vertically narrow".

  12. BatsmallSailboatAshe2000 on Dec 01, 2006 07:09 PM

    theokster, think natives

  13. FileGrapestheokester on Dec 01, 2006 07:09 PM

I'm wondering if perhaps we mix the strips around to create words somehow? Granted, I don't know if that will work since most of my columns won't form words no matter how I rearrange them.

  14. FileAppleTWhitsett on Dec 01, 2006 07:10 PM

Splat: when things take a dip, they go splat

  15. FileGrapesxpsdude on Dec 01, 2006 07:11 PM

Under dress. Familiar to "In new testament", I think.

  16. Avatar_profilePeachUethym on Dec 01, 2006 07:11 PM

You have already solved this puzzle.
It took you 10 minutes and 40 seconds.
You are the 2nd fastest Tanga member to solve this puzzle.
You were the 2nd Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

Ah well, close enough even without those two clues.

  17. FileAcecontrerasjoe on Dec 01, 2006 07:14 PM

Still fighting with "under dress" and "vertically narrow"

  18. FileRadishcvdellen on Dec 01, 2006 07:15 PM

VC??? Can't think of anything that would help with this puzzle.

  19. FileBananatheChony on Dec 01, 2006 07:15 PM

Is 'under dress' a noun or verb?

  20. FileRadishcvdellen on Dec 01, 2006 07:15 PM

The hit TV show Veronica's Closet must be the key...

  21. Avatar_profileWatermelonpep on Dec 01, 2006 07:16 PM

ive got all the words. now what?

  22. FileGrapesxpsdude on Dec 01, 2006 07:17 PM

    Viet Cong?

  23. Avatar_profileWatermelonProjectyl on Dec 01, 2006 07:17 PM

Come to think of it, the author may want to take another look at the bottom row. All the reasonable words that fit there are off by a letter or two; I only managed to guess the final answer by omitting the bottom row and looking at the top two.

  24. Avatar_profileOrangettd on Dec 01, 2006 07:17 PM

    I'm 3rd...

I had very much the wrong clues for some of them but once you know what to do there aren't a lot of words that could fit.

  25. Avatar_profilePearrobinh on Dec 01, 2006 07:17 PM

haven't solved the puzzle, but my solution for "under dress" is "unmentionable"

  26. FileGrapesxpsdude on Dec 01, 2006 07:18 PM

    [26] Mine too

  27. Avatar_profileApplejerkstore on Dec 01, 2006 07:18 PM

    Venture capitalist?

  28. FileAppleTWhitsett on Dec 01, 2006 07:19 PM

I'm with you, pep... all the words, but no idea what to do with them.

  29. FileRadishcvdellen on Dec 01, 2006 07:19 PM

    I'm on that team...VC = very confused

  30. Avatar_profilePeachRecklessJester on Dec 01, 2006 07:20 PM

    vice city?

  31. FileAcecontrerasjoe on Dec 01, 2006 07:21 PM

Vince Carter? Wow, I am way off!

  32. FileRadishThosw on Dec 01, 2006 07:21 PM

    Vanilla Coke?

  33. FileGrapesxpsdude on Dec 01, 2006 07:21 PM

    Video Console?

  34. Avatar_profileOrangeTirasco on Dec 01, 2006 07:22 PM

    Very Confusing

  35. Avatar_profileOrangettd on Dec 01, 2006 07:22 PM

You need to combine the "VC" clue with the "White and Black" clue.

  36. FileAcecontrerasjoe on Dec 01, 2006 07:23 PM

Ok, I think I now have all of the boxes filled. Probably have some wrong. Now to figure out part 2.

  37. FileRadishcvdellen on Dec 01, 2006 07:25 PM

My Veal Chops are a little bland...somebody please pass the
    salt.

  38. FileGrapesxpsdude on Dec 01, 2006 07:25 PM

Does it have to do with cameras?

  39. Avatar_61723Strawberryjoeyhemlock on Dec 01, 2006 07:27 PM

If VC is what I think it is, there are a lot of one and only a handful of the other... And one that switches teams a lot.

Not that I know what to do with that information, or what a face pole is.

  40. FileAcecontrerasjoe on Dec 01, 2006 07:29 PM

Look at Number 12 joey, that should help!

  41. Avatar_profileWatermelonProjectyl on Dec 01, 2006 07:30 PM

joeyhemlock's got it. And now isn't a "sometimes" kind of time.

  42. Avatar_profileApplejerkstore on Dec 01, 2006 07:32 PM

    Is V.... C.... a phrase or two words that aren't a phrase?

  43. Avatar_profileAppleAshnak on Dec 01, 2006 07:33 PM

OK, I'm dumb. What is the "Engrave" answer?

  44. FileAppleTWhitsett on Dec 01, 2006 07:33 PM

    Ash, think glass

  45. Avatar_61723Strawberryjoeyhemlock on Dec 01, 2006 07:34 PM

I'm thinking "natives" and I have... nothing.

  46. EdgewoodSailboatsplat169 on Dec 01, 2006 07:35 PM

    try indians

  47. FileAcecontrerasjoe on Dec 01, 2006 07:35 PM

joey, think of the clue literally

  48. FileBananatheChony on Dec 01, 2006 07:36 PM

Ashnak, to engrave as a child, I used to do a-sketch.

  49. FileRadishcvdellen on Dec 01, 2006 07:36 PM

    joey, animals have faces too

  50. FileGrapestheokester on Dec 01, 2006 07:37 PM

    Gimme a 'V'

    Veee

    Gimme a 'C'

    Seeeeee

    Whadda they spell?

    !&@&$&

    Hmmm...that didn't work. ;)

  51. FileAcecontrerasjoe on Dec 01, 2006 07:37 PM

    oh, that might be confusing

  52. Avatar_profileStrawberryJDFester on Dec 01, 2006 07:37 PM

any clues to the VC and/or black/white?

  53. Avatar_profilePotatobarneshome on Dec 01, 2006 07:38 PM

As usual for me, the words are fairly straightforward, but the clue is completely eluding me. How does Venture Capital + White and Black relate to the grid? How does it tell us which letter to use in each column? Why can't these things be as easy for me as they seem to be for everybody else? Why do fools fall in love? Why...never mind.

  54. Avatar_profileKiwiBelle on Dec 01, 2006 07:39 PM

Is filling in ALL the boxes necessary? I have all but one word, but can't seem to make heads or tails of the VC and black and white clue

  55. FileRadishcvdellen on Dec 01, 2006 07:39 PM

joey...any more clues to the VC bit?

  56. FileRadishThosw on Dec 01, 2006 07:40 PM

Pretty sure I've got all the right words. Just can't make sense of the rest.

  57. Avatar_61723Strawberryjoeyhemlock on Dec 01, 2006 07:43 PM

I don't know why I'm giving VC hints as I don't know what to do with them. Or even that I know the words for sure. But since I'm apparently on the right track, I'll say that I don't believe it stands for Venture Capital, but if it was applied to Venture Capital it'd be 6 and 8, respectively.

As an aside, I used to feel smart until Tanga conviced me otherwise.

  58. Avatar_profileWatermelonpep on Dec 01, 2006 07:43 PM

    Help us! We're confused!

  59. Avatar_61723Strawberryjoeyhemlock on Dec 01, 2006 07:49 PM

    <cartman>

    Oooooooooh, face POLE!

    </cartman>

  60. BatsmallSailboatAshe2000 on Dec 01, 2006 07:50 PM

Wow, 42 minutes to solve and only the seventh one to do so.

I must have more than one clue wrong, but I guessed well.

  61. FileRadishcvdellen on Dec 01, 2006 07:50 PM

Nice joey...i'm getting 3/9 for the first row...right track?

  62. FileGrapestheokester on Dec 01, 2006 07:51 PM

    Phew....got it.

yes Joey, you seem to have the right amount for your example. Now take that and add it to the rest of the written clue.

And for those that are "sometimes", it looks like they switch.

I definitely had some wrong words on the bottom row, but was still able to bang my way in.

  63. Avatar_profileWatermelonIOTA on Dec 01, 2006 07:51 PM

yeah, i was just at a museum with those...

  64. FileBananatheChony on Dec 01, 2006 07:52 PM

    No NaCl for 'VC'?

  65. FileGrapestheokester on Dec 01, 2006 07:52 PM

    yes cvdellen

  66. Avatar_61723Strawberryjoeyhemlock on Dec 01, 2006 07:53 PM

cvdellen - I don't know if the number of each have anything to do with anything... I was just trying to get people on the right VC track...

I'm still figuring it out myself...

  67. FileGrapestheokester on Dec 01, 2006 07:56 PM

the number doesn't matter so much as the location

  68. FileGrapestheokester on Dec 01, 2006 07:56 PM

(sorry, that might be too salty for this crowd)

  69. Avatar_profileLemonzeppelin17 on Dec 01, 2006 07:58 PM

still dont get face poll, under dress, or vertically narrow

  70. Avatar_profileLemonBogden on Dec 01, 2006 07:59 PM

I can´t get all the clues for the boxes!

  71. FileGrapestheokester on Dec 01, 2006 08:00 PM

Yeah...I was still wrong on Vertically Narrow and Hooters, but able to guess my way in with the top two rows of answers correct.

  72. Avatar_profileLemonBogden on Dec 01, 2006 08:01 PM

whats under dress, face pole, and engrave?

  73. Avatar_profileLemonzeppelin17 on Dec 01, 2006 08:01 PM

ok then whats face pole and dont say indians cuz i dont get it

  74. 500full-wallace-_-gromit-in-the-wrong-trousers-screenshotAppleDan999 on Dec 01, 2006 08:02 PM

It took you 54 minutes and 20 seconds.
You are the 16th fastest Tanga member to solve this puzzle.
You were the 15th Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

Very hard, needed hints, and we got something in the bottom row wrong. There are some good hints above... switching "teams" should suggest an approach.

  75. Avatar_profileLemonzeppelin17 on Dec 01, 2006 08:02 PM

just use a thesaurus for engrave

  76. Avatar_profileLemonBogden on Dec 01, 2006 08:03 PM

there's lots of four letter words, is the word _t__? that one?

  77. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Dec 01, 2006 08:03 PM

Man. I see what I *want* to be going on here, but I just can't make any sense of it (and yes, not being able to get 3/4 of the bottom row is not helping.)

  78. Avatar_profileLemonzeppelin17 on Dec 01, 2006 08:04 PM

    yeah it is

  79. FileRadishcvdellen on Dec 01, 2006 08:04 PM

The bottom row is definitely the toughest.
Indians built these zeppelin...sorry if this is too salty.

  80. Avatar_profileLemonzeppelin17 on Dec 01, 2006 08:05 PM

first part of the little hand held drawing thing with sand

  81. Avatar_profileLemonBogden on Dec 01, 2006 08:05 PM

    whhaa???

  82. Avatar_profileLemonzeppelin17 on Dec 01, 2006 08:05 PM

dont be sorry lol never would have go it without that

  83. Avatar_profileLemonzeppelin17 on Dec 01, 2006 08:07 PM

    its the _t__ word lol

  84. Avatar_profileLemonBogden on Dec 01, 2006 08:07 PM

    thanks

  85. Avatar_profilePearmundane on Dec 01, 2006 08:07 PM

After an hour I finally got it. Messed up the bottom row but was able to figure it out.

  86. Avatar_profileLemonzeppelin17 on Dec 01, 2006 08:08 PM

ok now what. still missing 2 but apparently its doable..

  87. Avatar_profileWatermelonpep on Dec 01, 2006 08:08 PM

got it. i didn't have the bottom row completely right but i guessed right. [67] was the perfect amount of salt for me, thanx theokester

  88. Avatar_61723Strawberryjoeyhemlock on Dec 01, 2006 08:10 PM

okay, I think I have the words, I know what VC means and the "white and black" clue... And I am still lost...

If a BGG-er wants to GeekMail me...

  89. FileAppleTWhitsett on Dec 01, 2006 08:11 PM

Ditto for me, with a BGGer wanting to help.

  90. Avatar_profileKiwiBelle on Dec 01, 2006 08:12 PM

I think I have the right idea as to what to do, but it's just not working. Is there someone I can ask to make sure my words are right?

  91. FileDuckienrkii on Dec 01, 2006 08:13 PM

Is it just me, or is the 3rd row of this misleading? The widths of the hints correspond to the lengths of the words in the top two rows, but not in the third. At least, not based on my solution.

  92. Avatar_profileWatermelonIOTA on Dec 01, 2006 08:13 PM

joey, combine the two "sets" you have within the context of the answers to the clues/grid

  93. Avatar_profileLemonBogden on Dec 01, 2006 08:14 PM

can somebody give a good clue for under dress and face pole?

  94. FileDuckienrkii on Dec 01, 2006 08:15 PM

Plus, I was sure I knew what "hooter" was, but now that I have the solution, I realize hooter could not be what I orginally thought.

  95. Avatar_61723Strawberryjoeyhemlock on Dec 01, 2006 08:16 PM

You have already solved this puzzle.
It took you 1 hour, 13 minutes and 14 seconds.
You are the 36th fastest Tanga member to solve this puzzle.
You were the 36th Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

Holy Cow, I did it. The last two clues are apparently not what you think, because I was pretty sure of them and didn't get it.

  96. Avatar_profileLemonBogden on Dec 01, 2006 08:16 PM

    I'm so confused!

  97. FileDuckienrkii on Dec 01, 2006 08:18 PM

Bogden, for face pole, you can google "face pole" and what was hinted before (native) and that will get you there.

For under dress, think of Freud. At least, that's what I think the word is.

  98. Avatar_profileAppleaarons on Dec 01, 2006 08:19 PM

I'm with you Joey. I was pretty confident with my last two answers, especially the last one, but having got the answer I see they are definitely not correct.

  99. FileGrapesxpsdude on Dec 01, 2006 08:19 PM

Got it with a guess, but Hooters and Vertical seem to be wrong.

  100. FileDuckienrkii on Dec 01, 2006 08:20 PM

Anyone that could BGG mail me the answer for "hooter"? That's bugging me.
