    Is anybody working on this?

  2. FileXylophoneCinMel on May 31, 2008 09:47 AM

    Yes... and nothing so far...

  3. FileEggRPardoe on May 31, 2008 09:51 AM

Do I have to? Have no idea where to start....

  4. FileClockJewelia on May 31, 2008 09:54 AM

Same here. I can brute force letters that anagram to O HORSE SISTER, so I tried sighing in my sleep, but got no closer to the answer.

(If this proves salty I will be pleasantly surprised!)

  5. FileEggRPardoe on May 31, 2008 10:03 AM

Have an idea that is math related...but not quite working

Edit...yes it did work once I applied it properly.

  6. FileClockJewelia on May 31, 2008 10:01 AM

That bottom warning concerns me, but it seems too general to be helpful--like saying "caution: danger." What kind of math? Addition/subtraction? Calculus?

  7. FileEggRPardoe on May 31, 2008 10:05 AM

[6] Math not that complicated at all...you won't need a calculator.

Everything you need is in the puzzle.

  8. Phi3CornPhilana on May 31, 2008 10:05 AM

[5] Can you give us any salt?

  9. FileEggRPardoe on May 31, 2008 10:36 AM

[8] Where the numbers are is important and should lead to the math you need.

Edit....and this puzzle continues a pet peeve of mine....anagramming needed (Guess not, see comments below) in the final step when the puzzle could have been designed to avoid that.

  10. FileClockJewelia on May 31, 2008 10:25 AM

[9] Thanks! Never heard of those functions!

Actually if you move strictly L--R at the end, no anagramming is needed.

  11. FilePepperVerve640 on May 31, 2008 10:17 AM

    [10] - Yep, that's how I saw it...nice puzzle...

  12. FileEggRPardoe on May 31, 2008 10:18 AM

[10] Good point....didn't notice that on the scratch pad I was using to work this out.

  13. Phi3CornPhilana on May 31, 2008 10:28 AM

    I'm still not seeing it.

    Edit: Got it!

  14. FileGarlicBlueDevilDucky on May 31, 2008 10:23 AM

    [13] Yeah...me either.

  15. FilePepperdajagr on May 31, 2008 11:54 AM

[10], oddly, was the salt I needed.

  16. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on May 31, 2008 12:17 PM

I am soooo lost here. I have no idea where to start or what math is involved. What I've tried so far has only yielded garbage.

  17. FilePancakesepaz on May 31, 2008 12:46 PM

[16] Reread posts [9] and [10]. The salt there helped me get keywords for a google search.

  18. Avatar_profileAppleClaireLA on May 31, 2008 02:05 PM

Would anything in the Talking Heads song quote help?

  19. Donimo_pirate_beatlesTomatoDonimo on May 31, 2008 04:05 PM

You mean the Madness song? Not exactly. Not if you want to solve the puzzle the proper way.

To salt more, re:[9]/[10], be more specific than "up" and "down".

  20. SouthparkPepperTahnan on May 31, 2008 04:35 PM

I'm sorry, I'm missing something here. Using the relevant functions gets me gibberish. So very lost...

  21. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on May 31, 2008 05:23 PM

    [20] Me too.

[17][19] I've read [9]/[10] over and over till I'm blue in the face, and I still have no clue. :(

  22. FilePeppercyncat on May 31, 2008 05:26 PM

Are you using the right key?

  23. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on May 31, 2008 05:56 PM

Well, I have the answer now, but I still don't see how this works, exactly.

    A) I've never heard of those math functions and I would think that most people have not either.

    B) Why do the functions not apply to 2 of the numbers?

    C) Why is there no explanation of the step-by-step solve process in the solution?

  24. Ronald-mcd-3EggKilgore on May 31, 2008 06:25 PM

OK, so I think I know the functions and how to apply them to the numbers. Is there another step based on the lyric?

  25. FilePancakesepaz on May 31, 2008 06:47 PM

    [20], [24] Well, there's gotta be a reason the lyric's there, right?

  26. Ronald-mcd-3EggKilgore on May 31, 2008 06:52 PM

[25] yeah, but based on what I get I wonder if I used the function right. Can I TG you what I got?

  27. FilePancakesepaz on May 31, 2008 08:01 PM

    [26] tg sent!

  28. FileGarlicdharmaRN on May 17, 2012 10:47 AM

Use the ceiling for up. Use the floor for down. Don't over-complicate!
