    Sweet! I like these!

Plus :( because I got here to do yesterday's late and I must've missed points by all of 3 seconds.

First, in 1:17! Of course, the fact that last summer I wrote a computer program to solve these for me helped an awful lot.

First puzzle and I can already tell this guy is the best puzzle maker ever.

  4. FileAppleABBAbear on Sep 02, 2007 07:07 PM

Hmmmm... I have the puzzle solved but don't know what to do with the answer... grrrr

EDIT: I'm so stupid... I looked right at the answer and just ignored it.

  5. FilePotatoDandelion_Wine on Sep 02, 2007 07:17 PM

7th - I'll take it. Now the 'easy' one.

  6. Avatar_profileRocketKoolKow on Sep 02, 2007 07:54 PM

I recommend not trying to do this without one of the given letters - it makes it a bit harder [and by I a bit harder, I mean logically impossible]... oops

    21st in 52 minutes.

Very tough sudoku! Got about half solved and took an educated guess to get the answer.

  8. Avatar_profileApplekswitz on Sep 02, 2007 08:26 PM

    sudoku = evil

  9. FilePeachtabacco on Sep 02, 2007 08:29 PM

well, I solved the puzzle, which was fun. No idea what to do now though. Ah well.

  10. FileClockmust67 on Sep 02, 2007 08:33 PM

I also solved the puzzle and cannot see what to do with it.

  11. Avatar_profileApplekswitz on Sep 02, 2007 08:41 PM

9 and 10 - look closely... the answer's there somewhere.

  12. FileClockmust67 on Sep 02, 2007 08:49 PM

okay I looked closely. I have been staring at tis solution for30 minutes. How about a nudge the right direction

  13. FileGarlick1w1 on Sep 02, 2007 08:57 PM

\ is a nudge in the right direction.
    Tough sudoku.

  14. P1000098PotatoCzar on Sep 02, 2007 09:01 PM

Thanks for the nudge it finally gave it to me

  15. FileClockmust67 on Sep 02, 2007 09:09 PM

Wow Thanks K1W1, I looked at that 14 times and never saw it. I finally put it ito an anagram solver and saw what it was before th anagraming. Duh

  16. FilePeachtabacco on Sep 02, 2007 09:15 PM

Thanks [13], that did it for me. I'm still not sure how I was supposed to get that without the hint though :(

  17. FileStrawberryPenh on Sep 02, 2007 09:39 PM

Yowza. Turns out there's more than one solution to this friggin' thing. The one I found, unsurprisingly, doesn't produce the right answer. Grr, I say. If you don't see an obvious answer in the grid, try finding another solution.

  18. FileTomatobcgrote on Sep 02, 2007 09:54 PM

I found a solver that also showed one answer to the puzzle, and the answer does lie within it! (edit: within the puzzle...)

Nice and tough, but inherently solvable without extra sites!

    Good puzzle!

  19. FileGarlicHope2002 on Sep 02, 2007 10:01 PM

It took you 8 minutes and 33 seconds to solve this puzzle.
You were the 60th Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

Didn't exactly come out that way, but.....

There really shouldn't be more than one solution to these...

  20. FileGarlick1w1 on Sep 02, 2007 10:04 PM

I'm not sure how you are getting a second solution, I only found one.
    Confused.

  21. FilePumpkinJohn on Sep 02, 2007 10:08 PM

    Pretty Sneaky Sis...

  22. FileGarlicHope2002 on Sep 02, 2007 10:13 PM

I've hated Sudoku since they started calling it "sudoku." I think it is as misleading as calling cross sums "kakuro." And pixel puzzles "o'ekaki."

  23. FilePlumlseelba on Sep 02, 2007 10:39 PM

There is only one solution to the sudoku, and it is solvable with logic only. I made sure that no guessing was required. It was quite a chore to come up with a grid with the answer I wanted, and then to prune down the grid to a challenging puzzle!

  24. Avatar_profileApplepyrok on Sep 03, 2007 12:12 AM

I thought it was fun. I never really got any satisfaction out of "sudoko" (personally I prefer the cross-sums or "kakuro") because there wasn't a satifying conclusion. I don't like word searches for the same reason - unless the remaining letters spelled something. So this made this type of puzzle fun again for me. I'll bet it was a pain to set up. Nice job!
[22] I agree with you - since it was announced that Sudoku was all the rage, I have gotten a lot of sudoku books from well-meaning relatives who only know that I like puzzles. Before that it was always crosswords so at least that's changed. An entire book of something I'm not always in the mood for is just a little much. But I never say anything because they mean well.

  25. Avatar_profileRadishrmcelroy on Sep 03, 2007 11:11 AM

I didn't solve the sudoku. I just took the salt from [13] and plugged the letters given into a crossword solver. The answer was right there.

  26. FilePlumlseelba on Sep 03, 2007 11:53 AM

Why don't you just post the answer [25]? >:(

  27. Avatar_profileRadishrmcelroy on Sep 03, 2007 06:16 PM

Sorry, but the salt was already there, I just gathered it together into one post.

  28. FileGrapesdantan98 on Sep 03, 2007 06:29 PM

    I'm glad I didn't say anything now... ([25]&[26])
    Now I need some Rolaids...
