And how am I the first to comment?

  4. Avatar_profileGrapesboskgote on Oct 15, 2007 07:06 PM

The obvious answer is not being accepted.

  5. FileGarlick1w1 on Oct 15, 2007 07:06 PM

  7. FilePeachsouthaustin on Oct 15, 2007 07:08 PM

Aztec would be a GREAT answer, but alas.

  8. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Oct 15, 2007 07:08 PM

[6] More obscure on the first pic.

  9. FileRocketokmaybenot on Oct 15, 2007 07:08 PM

I can't be sure, but I think the gender of the first picture is wrong for what the answer is.

[2] That's the only way I got it as well.

  11. FileGarlick1w1 on Oct 15, 2007 07:09 PM

Aztec is what I came up with too.

  12. FileEggRPardoe on Oct 15, 2007 07:10 PM

[2]I've heard of that word. I would certainly call her that.

  13. Avatar_profileLemonbar88537 on Oct 15, 2007 07:11 PM

Definitely wish it was aztec, but it's not

  14. FileGarlicHope2002 on Oct 15, 2007 07:11 PM

It took you 9 minutes and 8 seconds to solve this puzzle.
You were the 9th Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

Never thought I'd be in the top ten. Waaaaaaayyyyyyy less common than I was using.

  15. FileGarlick1w1 on Oct 15, 2007 07:11 PM

    12th, that was bloody awful.

  16. Avatar_profileOrangeQ on Oct 15, 2007 07:14 PM

Bad! That's really stretching it for a warm-up.

  17. Head_shotBananajppe5 on Oct 15, 2007 07:14 PM

This is NOT an easy one.

  18. Avatar_profileAppleositobrian on Oct 15, 2007 07:16 PM

    [12] Thanks!

  19. FileDuckiedavey3 on Oct 15, 2007 07:16 PM

Good help in [2] - Aztec was a much better answer though.

  20. PixelBananaaynjul on Oct 15, 2007 07:16 PM

    Thank you #2 and #6

  21. 11111Radishzestyonion on Oct 15, 2007 07:16 PM

  22. FileBananaSephiroth2906 on Oct 15, 2007 07:16 PM

    Bah to that.

  23. FileRadishcthulhu on Oct 15, 2007 07:18 PM

And I thought this might be the ultimate geek puzzle and refer to Unix' predecessor.

  24. FileOrangeDustinasu on Oct 15, 2007 07:19 PM

even the "sound it out" didnt work well...my roomate actually came in and asked me what the heck i was trying say...

  25. Avatar_profileEggplantninjoo on Oct 15, 2007 07:19 PM

I totally thought it was marmite

  26. Head_shotBananajppe5 on Oct 15, 2007 07:20 PM

what wiki entry is everyone looking at? I'm coming up with zilch.

  27. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 15, 2007 07:23 PM

Go look for a good time in a public restroom and you might find the answer. Otherwise, you might find her still on the block even though she's got a lot of rocks.

  28. Head_shotBananajppe5 on Oct 15, 2007 07:28 PM

[27] Thanks! I got it! For a good time call...

    That was definitely obscure.

  29. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Oct 15, 2007 07:32 PM

Haha, I used the more formal (even more obscure) version for the fist pic so a lot of these comments were really confusing. I finally get them and now I know more about this animal than I will ever need.

  30. Avatar_profileApplemicronerd on Oct 15, 2007 07:34 PM

[2] amen. would've never gotten it w/o wiki.

  31. FileRocketArchangel on Oct 15, 2007 07:44 PM

    [27] thanks.

  32. Avatar_profileKiwiSilverSabre25 on Oct 15, 2007 07:44 PM

Yeah...I agree. I think that puzzle could have been done a lot better. Or the answer could have been what we all expected. One or the other.

  33. ApparatusGrapesApparatus on Oct 15, 2007 07:56 PM

    lame.

  34. Avatar_profileStrawberryGreggM on Oct 15, 2007 08:03 PM

Average solve time: 10 minutes and 47 seconds.
Median solve time: 6 minutes and 56 seconds.

wow - never heard that word for the first pic before...

  35. FilePumpkinJohn on Oct 15, 2007 08:18 PM

Awful. I'd probably raise my grade it to a C if it had clued the answer in a second way.

  36. Avatar_profileCherriesjumpink on Oct 15, 2007 08:17 PM

    shoooooooot, i'm stumped. :(

  37. BradStrawberryVante on Oct 15, 2007 08:36 PM

What you're looking at there is not a donkey, and the answer is the difference.

  38. FilePumpkinJohnQ118 on Oct 15, 2007 08:47 PM

I'm average and I generated the answer...having passed her a few times in the looking and pairing.

It took you 11 minutes and 36 seconds to solve this puzzle.
Average solve time: 11 minutes and 30 seconds.

  39. FilePumpkinJohnQ118 on Oct 15, 2007 08:54 PM

Oh, and if you chose the REAL answer for the first pic, makes it obvious and easy when you say. Why? No, Mr. T.

  40. Charo_white_bgBananawillco on Oct 15, 2007 09:27 PM

    Of the soul.

  41. P1000759Grapesmarjhan on Oct 15, 2007 11:30 PM

Just call 867-5309 for the answer...

  42. FileCarrotblahmcblah on Oct 16, 2007 12:18 AM

[41] Thank you! Finally some good salt for this much-too-difficult warm up.

  43. Avatar_profileRocketvivictus on Oct 16, 2007 01:51 AM

    A good answer would be
"Aspire". ASS + Spider. I don't know the answer yet, but notice there's EIGHT legs on the bug. It's an arachnid of some sort apparently. I look forward to continuing this tomorrow. :)

  44. FilePeachbenjaminlho on Oct 16, 2007 02:36 AM

I agree with the others on this one.....VERY HARD puzzle!!! but i did finally get it...i was chasing down hinny for a while....so close

  45. Sc002a57f6Pumpkinrunart on Oct 16, 2007 03:01 AM

Crossword puzzlers will be familiar with this term.

  46. Avatar_profileWatermelonCaptainSemantic on Oct 16, 2007 04:45 AM

You know you're from a small, small farm town when you come up with that answer in a minute and a half. lol. I'll never be able to escape my redneck past...

  47. Avatar_profilePlumFermiDisciple on Oct 16, 2007 05:07 AM

Thank you, [2]. Yes, Wiki is your friend.

  48. FileStrawberryhappyjosiah on Oct 16, 2007 05:49 AM

I've long since wikied the first word, but I don't know what the second picture is.

    EDIT: nevermind i got it

  49. FilePepperChupper on Oct 16, 2007 06:02 AM

I don't think Aztec would have been a great answer either, we'd all still complain about how much of a stretch in pronunciation it was.

[45] I guess it depends on who publishes your crosswords. I've done about 10 crosswords a week for the past 10 years and don't know this word.

  50. FilePearBigRob68 on Oct 16, 2007 06:19 AM

if your having trouble, try "thesaurus.reference.com"

    Woo-hoo! Top 300!!!

  52. FileGarlicspamwise on Oct 16, 2007 07:45 AM

I could have sworn this one should have had some additional images in the beginning. Either
a can of Fanta, or a Bomb, or the letter E + John Cleese + E. (fantastic, bombastic, ecclesiastic)

    Still seeking the obscure burro...

  53. FileRocketTawnos76 on Oct 16, 2007 08:02 AM

I thought that there would have been some sort of notification before posting a puzzle. I have nothing in my E0mail. I just posted this Sunday. Sorry for the extreme difficulty in it as I would have added some salt myself if I had known it was going to up last night. (41) has good salt. We have some farms near us so I did not think that it was that obscure.

    [50] helped me.

I agree Aztec would have been a better answer

  56. Avatar_profileWatermelonCrash_Enburn on Oct 16, 2007 08:49 AM

[2] gave me something to look up.

Further salt: That is not a male donkey.

  57. Avatar_profileEggplantninjoo on Oct 16, 2007 09:17 AM

Here's the bad part: I immediately looked at that picture, and thought of the right word for it. The second picture can only be one of 2 things, and the homophone for the answer was too much of a stretch for me to get it. After thorough searching in case I had the wrong first picture, I came across an alternative spelling and pronunciation (that ends in a t) for the first picture that finally made it click. I'm sick of rebuses where you can get the pictures but just can't make the somewhat large jump to the homophone. Nice try on the puzzle, though, and if I were Forrest Gump, I would have pronounced the first one in a way that would have made the answer more obvious.

  58. FilePotatoAwpH on Oct 16, 2007 09:46 AM

I don't personally think "Aztec" is too far a stretch from "Ass tick". It's supposed to be a puzzle, after all.

  59. FilePlumsjlee on Oct 16, 2007 01:12 PM

One word to describe this one... horrible.

  60. FileAppleMCTMike on Oct 16, 2007 01:15 PM

I kept coming up with ass + spider = Ass Biter. Something from a South Park cartoon keeps recurring...

  61. Avatar_profileLemonparagraph on Oct 16, 2007 05:53 PM

lol, wow, that one was a tough one.

But once you get on the right trail, it's not too hard.

Aztec would have been good, but this is more clever, it might not be easy, but it's clever.

  62. Parrothead1GarlicWastinAwayAgain on Dec 09, 2009 08:32 AM

had the two terms but didn't quite convert the pronunciation to the right word.

  63. FileEggplanthankescu on Aug 27, 2011 01:52 PM

Should have included a female symbol on the first pic.
