Important note: The NUMBER in row 3, picture 2 (ghost) is incorrect. It should be 2.

The number in row 3, picture 4 (bat) is a 4. Some people had trouble seeing that one.

Also, for anyone having trouble seeing the images, you can save the picture to your desktop and blow it up there.

  2. Avatar_profileGrapeshenwy on Jan 07, 2007 07:01 PM

Errr, sorta looks like a calender

  3. FileGrapesbacontaco on Jan 07, 2007 07:01 PM

Better buy tonight's microscope so I can see these clues...

  4. Avatar_profilePearSpielfreak on Jan 07, 2007 07:02 PM

I wish the images were a bit bigger...

  5. Avatar_profilePeachjbluestein on Jan 07, 2007 07:02 PM

Do we have to be able to see what these pictures are? Because some of them are very hard to make out...

  6. FileDuckienrkii on Jan 07, 2007 07:03 PM

Sorry, the pictures were bigger in what I sent in, but got shrunk.

  7. FilePlumworkerbee on Jan 07, 2007 07:05 PM

so what IS the third item on the top line?

  8. Avatar_profilePotatobarneshome on Jan 07, 2007 07:06 PM

looks like the Mad Hatter to me.

  9. Avatar_profileGrapeshenwy on Jan 07, 2007 07:06 PM

    Hunchback manolin player?

  10. Avatar_profileWatermelonDorgon on Jan 07, 2007 07:06 PM

I'm unable to make out some of the photos ... oh well. The upper right and lower left corner may as well be the bottom line on an eye test.

  11. Avatar_profileLemondrphil210 on Jan 07, 2007 07:08 PM

these pics r way to hard to make out...and i got no clue

  12. FileRadishThosw on Jan 07, 2007 07:08 PM

    Here's what I have:

Pie Chocolate Mad Hatter (Tea Party) Lamppost (Lightpost)
    Bell Mountains Violin Chessboard
    Ladybug Ghost Puppy Bat
    Nails Bee Feather Medal

  13. FilePotatozebrakb on Jan 07, 2007 07:09 PM

chocolate?...I was thinking soup or broth...

  14. FileRadishThosw on Jan 07, 2007 07:09 PM

I don't think you drip soup off a wooden spoon....

  15. PumpkinEggCrazyKids on Jan 07, 2007 07:10 PM

    Or gravy...

  16. Avatar_profileGrapesNancyPJ on Jan 07, 2007 07:10 PM

    Or syrup...

  17. FilePotatozebrakb on Jan 07, 2007 07:10 PM

It looks like a ladle in my picture.

  18. Avatar_profileGrapesChachito on Jan 07, 2007 07:10 PM

    Yeah, we were thinking syrup

  19. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jan 07, 2007 07:10 PM

It looks like soup to me...

  20. FileGrapesxpsdude on Jan 07, 2007 07:11 PM

I was thinking it was melted dark chocolate as well.

  21. Avatar_profileLemondrphil210 on Jan 07, 2007 07:12 PM

i think i know wat game it looks like but i still dont know what to do

  22. Avatar_profileWatermelonInfinityMax on Jan 07, 2007 07:12 PM

This reminds me of a line in Oh Brother:

    "That don't make NO sense!"

I can't even see what most of these are supposed to be. Of course, I don't think that would help anyway, because there's no fourth letter in bat.

  23. FileDuckienrkii on Jan 07, 2007 07:12 PM

I'm sorry the pictures are so hard to see! I'd tell you what they are, but a couple of them would really give away the puzzle.

    [12] is pretty close though

  24. Avatar_61723Strawberryjoeyhemlock on Jan 07, 2007 07:12 PM

I'm not getting anything. My first instinct on the second one is gravy.

  25. FilePumpkinJohn on Jan 07, 2007 07:14 PM

Why the heck did they say to submit 500x500 images when they're rescaling them?

With apologies to the submitter - illegibility is about to make this puzzle the first one I haven't bothered to do.

  26. Avatar_61723Strawberryjoeyhemlock on Jan 07, 2007 07:15 PM

There's a "theme" to the pictures, then?

  27. Beauty_copyOnionfrench_pea on Jan 07, 2007 07:15 PM

you can find the pic of the pot in google images...but it's none of the guesses that have been made so far...

  28. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Jan 07, 2007 07:16 PM

any idea on the fourth image on the top?
    column?

  29. FileEggRPardoe on Jan 07, 2007 07:16 PM

The image as shown is 480x480 - so wonder if the puzzle was originally submitted w/out the text. The vertical compression seems worse than the horizontal compression.

  30. FileGrapesbacontaco on Jan 07, 2007 07:16 PM

I was thinking "melt" for the second one on the top row.

  31. FileDuckienrkii on Jan 07, 2007 07:16 PM

for the fourth image on top see [12]... the answer is in there somewhere

  32. Avatar_profileOrangeZebraboy on Jan 07, 2007 07:17 PM

arrgh, i know what these all are and what the theme is, but can't make anything of the letters...

  33. FileOrangeGowan on Jan 07, 2007 07:17 PM

there's something weird about that bat.

  34. Avatar_profileOrangeGilby on Jan 07, 2007 07:17 PM

So...this puzzle is deliberately going with being difficult not because there's any logic or anything, but because it's hard to read?

Nice to see such, erm, quality from Tanga.

  35. FileDuckienrkii on Jan 07, 2007 07:18 PM

probably my fault... I probably didn't send the right size image... sigh

  36. EdgewoodSailboatsplat169 on Jan 07, 2007 07:19 PM

Maybe the microscope they are selling will help

  37. Avatar_profileWatermelonDorgon on Jan 07, 2007 07:19 PM

I think I have the general idea ... be back soon.

  38. FileEggRPardoe on Jan 07, 2007 07:19 PM

If Tanga was going to resize - they should have "tested" the reduced image, or sent it back to you for comment. Not entirely your fault.

  39. FileDuckienrkii on Jan 07, 2007 07:21 PM

Here is what is right from [12]:

    Pie xxxxxxxx Hatter Lamppost (xxxx)
    Bell xxxxx xxxxxx Chessboard (xxxxx)
    Bug Ghost Dog Bat
    Nails Bee Feather xxxx

  40. Avatar_profileCherrieslizard on Jan 07, 2007 07:21 PM

who knows if it has to do with it, but is the number of the bat a 4?

  41. FileOrangeGowan on Jan 07, 2007 07:22 PM

    Yes, it's the only 4.

  42. FileGarlicMrPlow99 on Jan 07, 2007 07:23 PM

    so that's not a violin????

grr, is it a fiddle then?

  43. Avatar_profileStrawberryKentuckyKid on Jan 07, 2007 07:23 PM

    stew

  44. Avatar_profileCherrieslizard on Jan 07, 2007 07:23 PM

    is it molasses?

  45. Avatar_profileStrawberryKentuckyKid on Jan 07, 2007 07:23 PM

Oops. Sorry about the "stew" comment...
I meant to type it in Google image search in my other tab.
Trying to figure out what pic #2 is...

I love it. Pity about the pictures being so small, though.

  47. FileRadishThosw on Jan 07, 2007 07:24 PM

    Oooh. The thought plickens!

  48. FileDuckienrkii on Jan 07, 2007 07:24 PM

Okay, my mom just found a mistake in my puzzle. So before I crawl under a rock, let me let you all know that for GHOST, the number should be 2, not 3.

  49. Avatar_profileKiwihokies2007 on Jan 07, 2007 07:25 PM

    google images + [44]

  50. Avatar_profileStrawberryKentuckyKid on Jan 07, 2007 07:27 PM

Save the puzzle as a picture and blow it up. It helps a bit.

Not bad. Ambiguous here and there (Row 2, Col 2 could be a few things), but the ladybug's brilliant. :)

  53. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Jan 07, 2007 07:29 PM

[50] I blew it up and printed - still couldn't determine 4 without the salt

  54. FilePepperdajagr on Jan 07, 2007 07:29 PM

I suspect that the important part about (4,4) is not what's being held, but what it's made of. That's just a guess, though. I'm still trying to figure out what it all *means*.

  55. FileGrapesxpsdude on Jan 07, 2007 07:30 PM

I now get the theme. Now to figure it out.

  56. FileDuckienrkii on Jan 07, 2007 07:32 PM

The numbers, after you edit my mistake, are

    2 1 1 3
    2 2 1 3
    1 2 2 4
    2 1 2 1

  57. Avatar_profileOrangedlp on Jan 07, 2007 07:32 PM

I hope I can solve this without knowing what the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 10th, and 16th images are, since they're too small to make out.

So much for that idea, there's a 4 on "bat".

  58. Avatar_profilePeachgamerchick on Jan 07, 2007 07:33 PM

I have the pics. Now what the crap am I supposed to do with them?

  59. FileDuckienrkii on Jan 07, 2007 07:33 PM

    lol dlp

I'll be over on bgg if you want help

  60. FilePumpkinJohn on Jan 07, 2007 07:33 PM

    "What is this puzzle like?"

It's like raaaiiin... on your wedding day.

Now if I could just get that song out of my head, I could work on it.

  61. Avatar_profilePlumtinderfire on Jan 07, 2007 07:34 PM

What resolution is everyone's monitors set at? If you crank it down to 800x600, maybe it will be clearer. Just a thought.

  62. FilePepperdajagr on Jan 07, 2007 07:35 PM

Okay, I'm pretty sure I have the theme (especially given the ladybug), but with my missing answers and a couple of ambiguities, I'm still working out the answer. (If I'm reading the theme properly, some of the clues could work out to two different things--I've got a couple for [4,4], for example.)

  65. Avatar_profileWatermelonDorgon on Jan 07, 2007 07:38 PM

    >Okay, I'm pretty sure I have the theme (especially given >the ladybug),

Especially given the ladybug? The ladybug (and the landcape photo) are the only things I have absolutely no idea how to tie into the theme!

  66. FileOrangeGowan on Jan 07, 2007 07:39 PM

I think I have the theme as well, but can't figure out the next step

  67. FilePepperdajagr on Jan 07, 2007 07:39 PM

[65] That was the one that really cinched it for me. I get the feeling I haven't heard some of the other connections, though. Or maybe I just have the wrong picture identifications.

  68. Phi3CornPhilana on Jan 07, 2007 07:40 PM

Don't forget the words above the pictures!

  69. Avatar_profileGrapesCellBlock on Jan 07, 2007 07:42 PM

If the theme is what I think it is, it's a little bit cliche, in my opinion.

  70. FileGarlicMrPlow99 on Jan 07, 2007 07:43 PM

wait, so there are now more 2s than 1s? that totally screws up how i was trying to arrange things. guess i'm way off

Whew. Great puzzle. It's too bad about the pictures. I've been discovering that 500x500 is a pretty tiny medium to work in when you're trying to get a lot of images in. Good work, despite the problem running into those space limitations, Nancy!

  72. FileDuckienrkii on Jan 07, 2007 07:44 PM

Thanks! At least the people who are solving it seem to think it's okay, so I'm relieved. My mother had a few choice words for me though, because I made her suffer through it too.

  73. Avatar_profileGrapesChachito on Jan 07, 2007 07:45 PM

I think I have the theme, and connected it with every picture, but can't seem to use the numbers right!

Not a bad puzzle, to bad they didn't look at it before posting it to make sure it was more legible.

  81. Avatar_profileWatermelonjericho on Jan 07, 2007 07:57 PM

Wow, that seemed tough. Even still have some letters wrong. But with some salt I pulled something out

  82. FileAppleTWhitsett on Jan 07, 2007 07:57 PM

it took awhile, but I finally got it, with some salt.

Thanks! I really liked this one, once I knew what the pictures were.

  83. Avatar_profileStrawberryKentuckyKid on Jan 07, 2007 07:58 PM

I've had the theme for awhile, and presumably know how it relates to each picture (except the ghost). Still, applying the numbers they way I think I should leads to nonsense. It makes me wonder if some of the rest is wrong.

  84. FileRadishThosw on Jan 07, 2007 07:58 PM

  85. Avatar_profileWatermelonjericho on Jan 07, 2007 08:01 PM

Well if you can get the theme, then the answer should come out like a normal tanga puzzle. But be careful, a few of the pictures have multiple possibilities.

  86. FileEggRPardoe on Jan 07, 2007 08:02 PM

[83] Suspect "rest is wrong" has to do with the fact that some of the images might have two (or three) possible associations.

I can think of 2 for (2,4) / (3,3) / (4,1) etc. Just trying to get the right combinations.

  87. Avatar_profileGrapesraymulford on Jan 07, 2007 08:04 PM

Really, really like this one! Seems like it must have been tough to bring together all the elements.

  88. Phi3CornPhilana on Jan 07, 2007 08:04 PM

I still haven't figured out the (2,2) picture.

  89. Avatar_profileApplekswitz on Jan 07, 2007 08:04 PM

Got it, but I had four answers wrong and I couldn't see the forest for the trees.

  93. Avatar_profileOnionnytekien on Jan 07, 2007 08:07 PM

    Philana
    think of Julie Andrews

  94. Avatar_profilePeachgamerchick on Jan 07, 2007 08:07 PM

OK, Nancy, this is STILL tough tough tough for some of us. I am on the brink - just need an itsy bitsy grain of salt to grab a victory (and some sleep)!

  95. Avatar_profileStrawberryKentuckyKid on Jan 07, 2007 08:08 PM

Wow. I finally got it. I had wrong (but reasonably valid) answers for (1,2), (1,3), (1,4), (2,3), and (3,3). I still don't know all of them, but I was able to decipher it from there.

Nice puzzle! The small images weren't a problem, at least for me. Once I got the theme, things started to fall into place -- it is just that some of them fell in the wrong direction.

  96. FilePotatozebrakb on Jan 07, 2007 08:09 PM

[93] I don't think you mean Mary Martin...
    Maybe Julie Andrews instead?

And now you fixed your comment! So this comment is now useless...doobie doobie doo....

  97. Avatar_profileOnionnytekien on Jan 07, 2007 08:11 PM

    right

  98. FileOrangedarthservo on Jan 07, 2007 08:11 PM

Tough. A little too hard for me. Had to resort to BGG and do some searching. I never would have even thought of some of those as I've never used a lot in my life.

Good concept. But for people like me, if there are any others, it seems a little too dependant on a person's upbringing and cultural exposure? (For lack of a better way to describe my struggle)

  99. Thumb_bruceleeAppler0xjo0 on Jan 07, 2007 08:12 PM

Too many possible answers for each picture. This was frustrating. Once I figured out how to solve it, I still had problems with too many answers that would work.

  100. Donimo_pirate_beatlesTomatoDonimo on Jan 07, 2007 08:12 PM

I had no trouble with picture clarity. 2 could be a lot of things no matter how big the picture was.

Since the number on 10 was a flat out mistake, it's the only flaw I count.

    8 tricked me. I back-solved it. I think I had to back-solve 2 as well. I got the answer without 2, 8, or 10.
