When I was taking a drafting class in high school (in the mid-80s), I tried creating a crude maze in the CAD program we had and using the fill function at one entrance to the maze, hoping that the fill would progress through the maze. Alas, it didn't work that way.

  34. AvatarApplebagherra on Nov 19, 2007 08:04 PM

Truly the end all be all

  35. Avatar_profilePeachjimmiebjr on Nov 19, 2007 08:15 PM

Grrr...finished the maze. My eyes aren't working well tonight. :(

  36. Avatar_profileWatermelonThe_Professor on Nov 19, 2007 08:39 PM

I run a mac; used Grab to get a pic of the maze, and then photoshopped it. After trying solutions based on what I THOUGHT the pic looked like, I minimized the photoshop window (to my dock), and in the miniaturized image, the answer quite literally slapped me in the face. This was a particularly fun one.

A lot of people are seeing things I didn't see in this puzzle. Will this be in the solution? I don't see babies, words, actresses, etc. Just the answer.

I think it IS about the destination... maybe I'm reading too much into the clue, but I would think it's not about the start...

    any thoughts?

  52. FileGrapesdantan98 on Nov 20, 2007 06:13 AM

Great puzzle!! I was about halfway through and for some reason thought I was stuck. Read the comments ([17]) and even though I was about 1/3 finished, I knew what it was going to be! =-D

    well done

  56. FileGarlicspamwise on Nov 20, 2007 07:12 AM

I went chasing a 3 month old for a while, but, after I regained focus, this was easy and enjoyable. Congrats (on both the puzzle and the little one.)

  57. FileGarlicHope2002 on Nov 20, 2007 07:19 AM

[51] Ducky and I talked about that last night, too.

  58. FileCarrotleftyleo on Nov 20, 2007 07:33 AM

[17] .. was the clincher for me ..

    i was on a sun/moon trail , going nowhere

  59. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Nov 20, 2007 07:35 AM

[31] Wow! Very cool and impressive "bonus". I'm just glad that wasn't the solve method.

EDIT: As for the real solution, we thought it was "head" or "ahead" or "bust"... all words dealing with some sort of traveling/destination... until [17] got us on track.

Great puzzle, one of the ones I've enjoyed the most so far! Great solution, and very cool easter egg.

  63. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Nov 20, 2007 03:44 PM

Please show the easter egg tomorrow when the solution is posted... I colored in the dead ends, and I'm not seeing anything but the answer. :)

  64. Cassie2Aceisudoog on Nov 20, 2007 04:11 PM

[63] To see the Easter egg, open the image in Photoshop or the like and use the 'fill' tool to fill an area with color and fill the maze with a dark color. There are some squares in the maze that are a very slightly different shade of white, and will not be filled with the color and will stand out.

  65. Dave5Grapessaintomer on Nov 20, 2007 04:18 PM

    Woohoo! Tanga Virgin no more!

Neat puzzle. I like the little bonus. Congrats!

  68. Avatar_profileCherriesjtoast on Nov 20, 2007 06:31 PM

If anyone still doesn't get this, back away from your monitor a few feet and look again. It becomes pretty obvious when you don't have the image zoomed in trying to make words of of the line :P

  69. Avatar_profileStrawberrycomat0se on Nov 28, 2007 08:43 AM

    *Spoilers*
I used The Gimp to solve the maze using the technique here: http://taint.org/2007/06/19/121541a.html

Also if you drop the contrast way down the easter egg will become apparent. Here's a pic after dropping the contrast, and filling.
