The NUMBER of ears is NOT important.
Should definitely only have only one ear coming out.
Don't count the number of ears ... that will throw you off.

Well I have an obscure word that makes perfect sense but isn't right. It would be pointless to ask for more salt because there is already enough for such a basic puzzle. I'm just kinda dissapointed with this one. Hopefully that will change when I figure it out.

Well, I got it, and it's the same word I had only in a tense that makes less sense than my guess. Bummer... I wish I hadn't been exposed to this puzzle :(
