It was the search mission but I caught on to the theme with the video game character and the singer

I easily googled all besides the game char. and the mascot. Figured out the word without those two.

I had to skip the basketball player, and the actor, but it wasn't necessary once the other letters fell into place.

The person listed as an actor has perhaps one acting credit. His work is behind the scenes.

I didn't find any acting credits on IMdB. Unless appearing as "himself" counts ;)

[16],[17] Oops. Just corrected the puzzle. That doesn't affect the solution or solve method, though.

He was the only notable person I could find with the "characteristic" needed for the puzzle theme (I was expecting to find a lot more, actually). When I saw what TV show he was connected with, and all of the publicity photos on IMDB, I thought he was an actor. Shows you how much I watched that show.

In retrospect, I should have omitted that one and pulled the letter from a different person already in the puzzle, but I liked the "balance" of the way the various vocations are arranged visually.

Got three answers and used a X-word solver to do the rest.

That was a fun one! My crossword solver wasn't any help and I was being obtuse, so I had to work my way through each one of the clues and solve all 12 letters.

I hit a temporary roadblock when I stupidly searched and searched to find the first name of the Video Game Character. Before I finally realized I just had to use her title.

Loved it. Another solid effort from Dr. Puzzle.

I only found 8 Tanga Stars, and nothing that could match that mascot. Could it be 'mestupid'?

You really don't need to be able to recognize these people immediately... the Tanga level for each one will point you in the right direction.

That being said, the last one (football player) is no longer with that team... see Atlanta Falcons.
