nice n' easy
Solved it. The one in the middle does not use the proper name.
Got it with about half the letters... The answer is strangely familiar.
I never liked these...mainly because I can't solve them...ha!
I finally figured this out....I hate puzzles with numbers all over!! LOL
dang! i though the answer might be butter or fountain-mountain-hairy-guy.
Hmm. I'm getting a mass of incoherent letters. Any salt on another way to approach?
[6]
chuckle!
Mmm. I'm hungry now.
[7] Try different animals?
This puzzle is hard to stomach
[10] thanks. I was stuck on 5 and 7 had to go to two other similar species. Still didn't get it until my girlfriend pointed out that my word looked like... what the answer was.
5 and 7 sure do look like something else...had me lost.
I got it with the first 4 letters.
[12], [13] Please, please, please tell me this isn't another case of my having to figure out exactly what specifies of antelope that thing is! I beat my head over the eland several days ago; I can't take that again!
It must be, 'cause what I have makes no sense
Wow! I learned a new word with this puzzle. :D
[15] You've got a Tangagram.
Yeah....not getting the horny animals here. I'm looking at what could be three different types and I'm not sure which is which. The numbers aren't making any sense at all, assuming I'm doing the right things with them in the first place which I'm probably not since there's no real guidance on what to do with them.
oh those numbers really through me for a loop! thankfully i got some order to it.
[16] Thanks, but still lost :-(
I sat there for 10 minutes trying to figure out why I was getting gibberish. It turns out, I had the correct answer all along, but I had never heard the word before. That hasn't happened in a long time.
ha, I actually just closed my eyes and pressed enter!
[2] nor does the repeated horned one
Yay 4 min... fun stuff. I had to use some online help though (the power of computing dictionary solvers!)
I vote for words that people know... it just seems a little more fun to me to know when you've got the answer.
I've never liked any puzzle that uses obscure words as an answer. There is no "AHA!" moment. It's more like an "aha?"
Huh? That's a word?
Nothing obscure about any of the words, pictures (except for the one that uses a popular name rather than the proper one), or numbering.
I liked it.
For those who didn't know the word, and were frustrated by it...I learned it in grade school, and never thought it obscure. Sorry.
[20] Thanks! I was almost doing the same thing, then decided that I'd just go for it, and sure enough, what I had was the right answer! But not ever hearing that word before was definitely hard to digest.
got it from just reading the discussion and getting the first three letters :) Thanks for the help! Not sure how to add more without giving away too much...
[28] I have to reserve judgement. Too many posibilities for the great horned beasts.
I got it but at least make it a word we wouldn't have to go back and study the SAT's to know.
[31] There are four (or three, depending on howyou count) horned beasts there. Butt some new chocolate can help with all of them.
I guess it's not really a Bison.
That was fun, easy to make more difficult than it is! I certainly did...
After 13 minutes of puzzling over the numbers, I read the comments and then guessed. I got it on the second try. And no, I don't think it's at all an obscure word. And backsolving it I find that I had several of the animals wrong. And no, it's not a bison. Well, it is, but not for the purposes of this puzzle.
okay so i solved it with process of elimination, but still have no clue what the horned animal is. No possibility I came up with fit the bill.
Why are people saying that the answer is an obscure word? I thought it was well known and it fits in perfectly with the pictures.
It would be interesting to get an age range on the
"never heard it" and the "that word is commonplace"...
Not a common word (one I would think to use), but not one I didn't recognize when I read either. The whole puzzle was fine except last night I developed temporary yellow/black confusion.

I have no idea how to do this one I tried using animal names and came up with alot of I's and gibberish that isn't the answer. sigh.
I don't know why I'm having such a hard time with this one. I believe I know what all the animals are, but the word I generate isn't real, though if I read it like a text message I get a question. I guessing that unless I have an "Aha!" moment, this on goes unanswered for me.
having completed five months of wildlife research in Kenya earlier this year, I'm most definitely familiar with the word, but 2, 5, and 7 are very wrong...
2 While not the correct name it is commonly known as this
5 and 7 are correct you just don't have to be so precise as to know that it's an Impala.
Well, I had to chew on this one for a while, but I finally got it. Fun!
