Trivial if you recognize the background picture. Unfortunately, I didn't. Thanks to the salt in [11] for getting me to re-read the salt in [9]. Now the "S"alt in [2] actually makes sense to me.
as always, if you are unsure how you got the answer, or have questions... send me a Tangagram with the answer included and i will answer your questions.
[4] Wow, the monitor I first looked at the puzzle with didn't really distinguish anything in the background except for the hands, medals, and head, and none of those looked like anything other than whitish blobs. Got it now. Thanks!
Ok.... only figured it from the salt and didn't have a clue who the guy was in the background until I figured out the salt. Still don't know how the answer includes the giraffe except at a zoo.
Can someone who solved this just post the solution for those of us with the mental blocks? THANK YOU!
JUST GOT IT! Take the pig as "dot" and the giraffe as "dash" and look up the letters that equal those configurations to make the appropriate letters to form the word in Morse code.

The giraffes symbolise one thing, the pigs symbolise another. If you have questions, just send out an S.O.S.

[11] No, you didn't get [9]'s comment. Read it again carefully.

Oh, man, I could have sworn I tried it both ways, and carefully. (Guess not).
Thanks for dragging me to the answer, folks, despite myself!

Here's the long and short of it: Comparing the neck sizes would have told [8] which was which.
