You solved this puzzle in 1 minute and 56 seconds and were the 1st Tanga member to solve it. You earned 110 points for solving this.

I think that's my first first.

  2. FilePeachsouthaustin on Jan 04, 2008 07:09 PM

Dang it. I should know this stuff.

  3. FilePancakesMysticalmelody on Jan 04, 2008 07:13 PM

    salt?

  4. FileAppleMCTMike on Jan 04, 2008 07:14 PM

    [3] Your username helps.

  5. FilePancakesjmcintyre on Jan 04, 2008 07:19 PM

Sang "Hallelujah" when I finally put the pieces together.

  6. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Jan 04, 2008 07:28 PM

With the "thin" reference in there, I really wanted the answer to be lovehandles (too bad it's not a single word).

Had the score in front of me in 10 seconds but did every other possible method first. Oh wells.

  7. FilePancakesMysticalmelody on Jan 04, 2008 07:24 PM

Rather annoying for an easy puzzle, eventually got it though.

  8. FileSailboatzyzzva on Jan 04, 2008 07:39 PM

  9. FileRocketYollege on Jan 04, 2008 07:42 PM

    I am with you [8].

  10. FilePeachsouthaustin on Jan 04, 2008 07:45 PM

    Did not enjoy.

  11. Avatar_profileGrapessoftserve06 on Jan 04, 2008 08:01 PM

    sigh...i'm stuck.

  12. FilePeppercyncat on Jan 04, 2008 08:01 PM

[8] Are you looking at the verses now?

  13. FileBananaukkonen on Jan 04, 2008 08:05 PM

i have the verses in front of me. doesnt make sense atm

  14. FileAppleMCTMike on Jan 04, 2008 08:06 PM

This is easier than it looks. Look for Tanga numbers. The names should lead you to some very specific numbers.

  15. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Jan 04, 2008 08:08 PM

The placement of the examples is more important than their content.

  16. FileAppleMCTMike on Jan 04, 2008 08:09 PM

[12],[13] Don't think chapters and verses - think verses and refrains. In four-part harmony.

  17. FileSailboatESQuire on Jan 04, 2008 08:27 PM

I've almost got a "grip" on this. I know the work and the verse numbers (all from Part I). but applying those 4 numbers, gives "htht" (will edit if too salty). Where am I going wrong?

  18. FileDuckieescKey on Jan 04, 2008 08:27 PM

    That was easy??

  19. FileBananaukkonen on Jan 04, 2008 08:32 PM

still nothing here. agree w/ [17] tanga letters arent making sense

  20. FileSailboatzyzzva on Jan 04, 2008 08:34 PM

ive tried several ways already n im not getting words.

  21. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Jan 04, 2008 08:37 PM

[17] Apply to something more general than what the puzzle contains.

  22. Avatar_profileStrawberrybenjro on Jan 04, 2008 08:40 PM

    My first top 100...thanks

  23. FileSailboatESQuire on Jan 04, 2008 08:44 PM

[21] For example, the title of the work? It would need to include the artist's name to have enough letters.

Is the answer only 4 letters?

  24. Avatar_profileApplekswitz on Jan 04, 2008 08:46 PM

bah...do I have to be religious to get this??? I already know I'm going to hell, I don't need a puzzle to remind me :(

  25. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Jan 04, 2008 08:54 PM

[23] For example, something you usually apply TNs to. Not specific to this puzzle theme or content.

    Yes, 4 letters.

  26. Avatar_profileGrapesr2mites on Jan 04, 2008 09:02 PM

[25] If the TNs apply to something unrelated to the puzzle, then it doesn't make a very good puzzle does it? I'm just not finding the "general" key to which you refer.

  27. Avatar_profileKiwitaznjazz on Jan 04, 2008 09:24 PM

ok, music and religion, neither are my forte

  28. FilePeppercyncat on Jan 04, 2008 09:39 PM

    [24] funny! :)

  29. PumpkinEggCrazyKids on Jan 04, 2008 09:51 PM

[24] - meet you there! This all depended on where you got your score. I worked with 6,8,11,3 for a long time. Didn't work too well with those numbers!

  30. FileAppleMCTMike on Jan 04, 2008 10:25 PM

[27] Really just music. The religion is a bonus... :O If you can figure out what the song names have in common, you might still be able to Score big points...

  31. Current.deal.avOnionmonocle on Jan 04, 2008 10:43 PM

[29] ok... good to know. so now the puzzle is finding the right web site... awesome.

  32. Avatar_profileWatermelonfitz1j on Jan 04, 2008 11:13 PM

I've stared at this for an hour, I give up. don't know where to apply the numbers to get anything useful.

  33. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Jan 05, 2008 12:10 AM

To those having difficulty with the numbers, please refer to the use of Tanga Numbers in this FAQ: http://www.tanga.com/forum/blogs/980_PUZZLER_FAQS

I'm not sure what else to say since the entire method is pretty much spelled out in this thread. Good luck!

  34. Avatar_profileKiwiLeezer on Jan 05, 2008 12:35 AM

I knew my copy of this would come in handy someday. I just didn't know I would be using it to solve a puzzle.

  35. FileAppleMCTMike on Jan 05, 2008 05:05 AM

[34] I didn't know I'd be using it to make one!

  36. Avatar_profileWatermelonfitz1j on Jan 05, 2008 05:13 AM

    HA! I can rest now:
You solved this puzzle in 6 hours, 33 minutes and 6 seconds and were the 138th Tanga member to solve it.

Thanks for the FAQ, my salt is get the numbers tha close this window if your stuck... too much noise here

  37. Sc002a57f6Pumpkinrunart on Jan 05, 2008 06:26 AM

I can sing all the alto parts noted here in my sleep.

  38. Avatar_profileGrapesr2mites on Jan 05, 2008 08:38 AM

Finally solved after 12 hours. I really hated this puzzle. There are way too many versions of the score out there to find the proper Tanga Numbers. And then the key really has nothing to do with the puzzle which is a little misleading. It's solvable, but just a little too inconsistent for my tastes.

  39. Current.deal.avOnionmonocle on Jan 05, 2008 08:43 AM

I understand what to do with TNs. too many options. not enough knowledge of music. I'll pass on this one. thanks though.

  40. Avatar_profilePeachtotalcult on Jan 05, 2008 11:05 AM

    4 minutes 14 seconds.

And the congratulations screen called me a "freaking genius" XD What's all that about?

  41. Avatar_profileApplekswitz on Jan 05, 2008 11:35 AM

once I got a handle on the clues this wasn't too hard. It took some sleeping on.

  42. Bunny91Garlicheatherlouwho on Jan 05, 2008 03:00 PM

As a former choirgirl, I recognized these right away. It would DEFINITELY be harder for someone who doesn't sing or go to Christmas concerts.

  43. FilePotatoDandelion_Wine on Jan 05, 2008 03:31 PM

I got the song, the composer, and I think the numbers. Using the numbers on the song and composer don't seem to help. Salt on BGG anyone?

  44. Avatar_profileAceGertSoB on Jan 05, 2008 05:40 PM

Yes, it was easy, even though I didn't know the source beforehand. A few quick googles pointed me in the right direction, and the actual solve method was the first one I thought of. It still took me 23 minutes, though, because I stopped to listen to a few youtube clips...
