    Hmm.. missing Horseman.

  4. Avatar_profilePearglsonn on Jan 27, 2007 07:17 PM

Hey, you two, it's not THAT easy.

  5. FileDuckienrkii on Jan 27, 2007 07:18 PM

I'm not finding it easy at all.

  6. Phi3CornPhilana on Jan 27, 2007 07:20 PM

I've solved the seven clues, but now what?

  7. Avatar_profileOniontinhorn on Jan 27, 2007 07:21 PM

11:08 for 3d and 3d. Ah, I shoulda been about 3 minutes quicker, but went a silly direction for a while.

    Nice one.

  8. Avatar_profileOrangeAnnie14 on Jan 27, 2007 07:22 PM

Do we have to figure out those Greek letters??

  9. Avatar_profileWatermelonReldnahcire on Jan 27, 2007 07:22 PM

Any one want to work together on bgg

  10. Avatar_profilePearmundane on Jan 27, 2007 07:22 PM

I figured out the last part of the answer and guessed the rest. Went back and figured out the rest. Very clever.

  11. Phi3CornPhilana on Jan 27, 2007 07:23 PM

    Oh, I get it!

  12. MejerseyLemonLoneWolf43 on Jan 27, 2007 07:23 PM

well this puzzle definitely has a Greek theme to it. At least two references

  13. Avatar_profilePearmundane on Jan 27, 2007 07:23 PM

    [8] It might help.

  14. Avatar_profileOrangejswheeler on Jan 27, 2007 07:26 PM

    7 greek letters
    7 clues

    coincidence?

  15. Avatar_profileGrapesChachito on Jan 27, 2007 07:31 PM

    I think not!!

  16. FileRadishThosw on Jan 27, 2007 07:38 PM

Clue #4 can have two seemingly correct answers. I had the "two word" variety and it threw me off. It's actually a one-word answer.

edit: And I still don't know what Horseman is supposed to be.

  17. Avatar_profilePotatobarneshome on Jan 27, 2007 07:41 PM

Thosw, are you sure? I got something that made a lot more sense with the 2 word answer.

For horseman, dissect the clue quite fantastically.

  20. FileRadishThosw on Jan 27, 2007 07:44 PM

[17] Well, changing it helped me because I had two of one letter and one of another, and once I swapped them the other way, I knew what the answer was. Street Rat is the only one of those letters in the solution.

[19] DUH!!! Sheesh! [smacks self on forehead]

  21. Avatar_profileOrangeAnnie14 on Jan 27, 2007 07:50 PM

[19] Thanks - that sure helped!

  22. Avatar_profilePotatobarneshome on Jan 27, 2007 07:50 PM

[20] Oh. I must be doing something screwy in the 2nd step then, since I am getting more than 1 letter for each clue.

  23. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Jan 27, 2007 07:56 PM

    I LIKED it!
You were the 18th Tanga member to solve this puzzle

    Saltless on-line, group effort here.
I actually started down the right path from the start!
But needed help filling in the blanks.
Got off track a little with 1. because of a couple of possiblities, but backsolved.

    YAAAY

    Sent you geekmail.

Hey Leadfoot - was wondering where you were. You have obviously figured out what to do after getting the seven answers...

  27. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Jan 27, 2007 08:17 PM

    [25] hld1970
    got it! back at ya!

    [26] Annie
Took a while, but figured most of it and backsolved with a little help from family.

  28. Avatar_profilePeachgamerchick on Jan 27, 2007 08:19 PM

I'm goin' to bed, y'all. My brain hurts. Hopefully someone will dump a nice heaping spoonful of salt on BGG by morning and I'll get it the old-fashioned way... with a lot of help. :)

I would not have recognized the answer as a word. Fortunately my wife did.

  31. FileDuckienrkii on Jan 27, 2007 08:33 PM

Wow, the first clue really messed me up. I kept wanting it to be the VHS alternative, but I was just hearing the clue wrong.

  32. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Jan 27, 2007 08:42 PM

    [31] nrkii
yeah, that was a red herring, but also tended to put me on the right track for the rest of the clues

  33. FilePlumMogri on Jan 27, 2007 08:45 PM

I'm only missing "street rat." Everyone keeps mentioning a certain Dickens novel, but that's not helping; also, I have no idea what to do with these words.

A shake of salt to put me back on track, anyone?

  34. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Jan 27, 2007 08:48 PM

    [33] Mogri
    is mogri your bgg name?

  35. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jan 27, 2007 08:49 PM

The sea might help you. As far as what to do: If at first, you don't succeed, try try again.

  38. FilePlumMogri on Jan 27, 2007 08:58 PM

Thanks, that made it click. I had narrowed it down to that letter but that is definitely not the word I think of for that. "Sea" is a good clue if a bit confusing.

Now to figure out what to do with these words...

  39. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Jan 27, 2007 08:59 PM

If at first, you don't succeed....

  41. FilePlumMogri on Jan 27, 2007 09:09 PM

So I'm told. I'm sure it's every bit as clever as your other hint, I'm just not seeing it. ;)

  42. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jan 27, 2007 09:11 PM

Well, SEA is a better hint after knowing the answer to that clue. I know that you will get it, maybe not on the first try.

  43. FilePlumMogri on Jan 27, 2007 09:36 PM

    (deleted misleading information)

  44. Avatar_profileBananavizzie on Jan 27, 2007 10:31 PM

[43] are you sure you have the right answers? It worked out fine for me with psi fourth and phi last, as in the original quote.

  45. FilePeppercyncat on Jan 27, 2007 10:34 PM

    [43] Mogri
In the quote, the 4th letter is PSI and the last letter is PHI.

  46. FilePlumMogri on Jan 27, 2007 11:19 PM

Okay, I just looked at my answers again and I was misplacing the two. >_>

It's been a long week, folks.

  47. Avatar_profileStrawberrysportability on Jan 28, 2007 01:59 AM

Dang dang dang. Would have had a fast time, but got stuck thinking about radio (right concept, wrong implementation) for the first clue...

Took a break and came back to get it saltfree!

  48. FileApplesanloublues on Jan 28, 2007 08:14 AM

As one who (clue #2)'s fairly often, I gotta say it's not much of a spree activity. Having to elbow in repeatedly instead of just being able to camp means it's easier to stay sober.

(Edited to make it sound less like I take a lot of dumps)

  49. FileGrapesxpsdude on Jan 28, 2007 08:46 AM

[48] Maybe some Kaopetate could help you out with that problem, possibly more cheese or bananas in your diet?

  50. FilePumpkinJohn on Jan 28, 2007 11:46 AM

Beware of Greeks bearing gifts... or is it the other way?

  51. Avatar_profileOrangeAnitaCat on Jan 28, 2007 12:25 PM

This is my first puzzle and I'm having a hard time. Any hints or help?

  52. AvatarBananaVotey on Jan 28, 2007 12:38 PM

    Welcome, AnitaCat.

In most Tanga puzzles, when you see a list of clues like this, you should try solving them into short (one or two word) answers, usually the answers will have something in common. And usually, that something in common is hinted at in the puzzle somewhere.

On this one in particular, you can start by finding out the names of those crazy Greek letters in the speech bubble.

  53. Avatar_profileOrangeAnitaCat on Jan 28, 2007 12:49 PM

We figured out the letters and some of the seven clues, we just don't know where to go next.

  54. FileGrapesxpsdude on Jan 28, 2007 12:56 PM

This thread at BGG may help you a little.

after a puzzle like that, I need a drink (or two)

  56. Avatar_profileStrawberrygypsychk on Jan 29, 2007 05:57 AM

Hey, OT: I've been searching for that painting, can't come up with anything ... what is it?

[NOTE: Name of painting is not necessary for the solve; I'm just curious.]
