    I keep getting gibberish

  2. FilePumpkincherylo on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:11 PM

[1] Gibberish three times over so far for me.

  3. FileEggMurdoctor on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:13 PM

Same here. Got ten letters that anagram to a bunch of possible things.

  4. PonyguncropBananaPony on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:15 PM

Yep- gibberish, none of which anagrams into one word. Hrm.

  5. FilePotatogoingboeing on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:16 PM

Same here ... gibberish and no anagrams

  6. Avatar_profileGrapesGregF on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:16 PM

I've got three different sets of ten letters, with a way to order each that yields gibberish. (I'm hoping this isn't just a random anagram at the end)

  7. Donimo_pirate_beatlesEggDonimo on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:18 PM

I try to avoid unindicated anagrams in my puzzles (you should too).

  8. FileWatermelonSperry on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:17 PM

You solved this puzzle in 9 minutes and 20 seconds and were the 2nd Tanga member to solve it. You earned 109 points for solving this.

    It's *almost* not unclear. >_<

  9. FileRaspberrydsmeyer on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:23 PM

No anagramming is neccessary but you may need to look something up once you are done.

  10. AssetsSailboatkayvon on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:24 PM

As far as I can tell, the famous Bocci Smith, a librarian, has demanded lice, pronto.

I don't think this is salt. At all.

  11. Phi3CornPhilana on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:29 PM

I've solved this, and I'm sure there's an error. Shouldn't the number after Out Town author Wilder be 7 instead of 6?

  12. FileXylophoneQurqirishDragon on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:32 PM

[11] thank you! with a (7) there, I got it right away.

  13. FilePepperVerve640 on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:33 PM

    [11] - Yes.

  14. FilePancakesenik on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:33 PM

    [11] I'm pretty sure that you're right.

  15. Donimo_pirate_beatlesEggDonimo on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:39 PM

    Sigh.... How's that?

  16. FilePumpkinarcbat on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:42 PM

Clever puzzle, but the mistake made it VERY frustrating.

  17. FilePumpkincherylo on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:42 PM

Okay...I see the hint in [11], but is that a name? I'm still not getting anywhere with this.

  18. Avatar_profileAppletravelocity on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:43 PM

I think I have it to the penultimate step, but I cannot turn it into an answer...

  19. FileGarlicHope2002 on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:45 PM

Google what you have and you will get something that may click

  20. Thunk_logo_colorPotatofachanlahd on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:19 PM

[11] that got it for me. I guess it's a busted puzzle, but it works with [11]'s salt.

It was still a fun puzzle though.

  21. Avatar_profileApplemullen1099 on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:46 PM

great puzzle. when you get the letters, apply the theme.

  22. FileEggMurdoctor on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:47 PM

Argh... should've tried that sooner, after recognizing the first four letters. Too bad for that numerical error.

  23. Avatar_profilePlumfnord on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:47 PM

I've searched on Google with the results, but I don't get anything that would lead to a single word answer.

Edit before I even finished the post, 'cause I *did* see it there, I just didn't know it yet.

  24. FilePancakesCWarrior on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:48 PM

I had all of the names in less than a minute, but no idea what to do with them.

Now, I realize I'm new to the whole tanga puzzles thing, but I'm not impressed so far. It's not just this particular puzzle, but it is the whole format.

  25. Avatar_profileAppletravelocity on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:48 PM

I googled, I get harbor seals, the prague post, agents and coaches...

  26. FileDuckiedavey3 on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:49 PM

    Thanks [11]!!!!

Man that was frustrating ... I was wondering why nothing seemed to work! With [11]'s help it was pretty easy.

  27. FileBananaukkonen on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:02 PM

Really sucks that I had a 6 for Wilder for the longest time. I didnt refresh (and the puzzle changed to 7) until just a minute ago

  28. Avatar_profileBananawhitastic on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:51 PM

    tough

  29. Avatar_profileAppletravelocity on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:56 PM

    Yay, 83rd.

  30. FileSailboatESQuire on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:04 PM

Do the letters anagram to one word? Or is there yet another step after that?

  31. FileAppledyllan on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:04 PM

[21] - Thanks for the great salt. [25] should look at what [21] says, and think about it for a bit to figure out what theme he could be referring to. You're almost there, just have one more step.

  32. FileAppledyllan on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:05 PM

    [30] No anagrams here.

  33. FileRocketYollege on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:06 PM

Doh! I had it there in front of me the whole time.

  34. FileSailboatESQuire on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:32 PM

Will edit if too salty, but I'm getting itismlocch, airlaoainr, oaiilrnaar. HELP!?!?!?! Are any of these close or can you tell if any of these 3 methods is on the right track?

  35. Donimo_pirate_beatlesEggDonimo on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:33 PM

[34] I can't tell what you're doing, but it looks like you may be applying the Tanga numbers to the wrong things. Solve the clues, then apply numbers from there. Don't apply Tanga numbers to the clues themselves.

There are two sets of numbers, and that's exactly what you need.

  36. FileSailboatESQuire on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:47 PM

I take the 6th letter of Pierce's first name and put it in the first position, right? And so on?

So frustrating. I feel like I get this. I knew ALL the connections immediately, but the application of the connections is twisting me in knots.

  37. Donimo_pirate_beatlesEggDonimo on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:46 PM

[36] To sprinkle some salt on it, yes. Do that for the rest... then figure out the rest of the puzzle.

  38. FilePancakesCWarrior on Fri Jan 04, 2008 10:13 PM

Who's ____________ (apparently, I said too much so I edited the name out)?

Still doesn't help. Give me a griddler or a kakuro any day.

  39. FileSailboatESQuire on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:52 PM

    [38] EXACTLY!?!?!?! Who is that?

  40. Avatar_profileApplekswitz on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:54 PM

dang... puzzles that involve counting always end up taking me longer because I can't count...ever. Finally got it after realizing that I only counted 5 for number 1 instead of 6.

  41. FileSailboatESQuire on Fri Jan 04, 2008 08:55 PM

[40] ... and then you got [38]'s answer, right?

  42. Donimo_pirate_beatlesEggDonimo on Fri Jan 04, 2008 09:06 PM

[38] That's a lot of salt. [39] They're good friends with Aretha Pierce and Willie Mandela.

  43. MickeyKiwisholmste on Fri Jan 04, 2008 09:10 PM

[38] One more crucial step to go, but you better edit that salt out. Use the puzzle theme for the crucial step.

  44. Avatar_profileStrawberrybenjro on Fri Jan 04, 2008 09:12 PM

I got it all the way to the final word and then it only took five minutes to figure it out...Funny thing because I was thinking of the Cincinnati connection right out the gate.

  45. FileGrapesMadHatir on Fri Jan 04, 2008 09:33 PM

Loni Cooper...I got it but I don't know how.

  46. AvatarDuckiesteph_frolin on Fri Jan 04, 2008 09:41 PM

"It is MLOCCH" I have no idea what that means. I got it from the nacl clogging tonites forum...Anyone care to tangagram the solve method?

  47. FilePancakesCWarrior on Fri Jan 04, 2008 10:16 PM

Ok ... I finally got it, but it was not worth it. This stuff has got to be an acquired taste. Someone tell me when it gets fun.

  48. FilePotatogoingboeing on Sat Jan 05, 2008 06:35 AM

Ugh ... I can't believe that I should have just typed my maiden name. I spent 11 hours thinking about this!

  49. Avatar_profileWatermelonfitz1j on Sat Jan 05, 2008 10:21 AM

[45] that's where I am at... except I applied the 7 instead of the 6. why do I even try these things?

  50. Current.deal.avOnionmonocle on Sat Jan 05, 2008 11:50 AM

very nice. It took me a while but I was determined to get this with out reading the comments. once again, the "hard" was easier and more fun than the "easy".

  51. Avatar_profileStrawberrySam32 on Sat Jan 05, 2008 12:51 PM

I have ionicnoper. as far as i can tell, that means nothing.... gah!

  52. Avatar_profileRadishrmcelroy on Sat Jan 05, 2008 02:09 PM

Wish I'd gotten here last night.
A very fun puzzle. Me Like!
    [51] you're very close. re-check 1st and 6th.

  53. Bunny91Garlicheatherlouwho on Sat Jan 05, 2008 03:08 PM

WOW! That was definitely 'hard.' Good puzzle!

  54. AvatarSailboatjjcool on Sat Jan 05, 2008 08:25 PM

wow. Complete garbage. Lonictoper yielded nothing last night. Now apparently it should have been the seventh letter of thornton not the sixth. Doesnt anyone check their puzzles before they post?

  55. FileGrapesmadhatternalice on Mon Jan 07, 2008 06:15 PM

Neither LONICOOPER or ITISMLOCCH are yielding anything, and I'm not getting anything from the salt above...TG anyone? Anyone? Bueller? :)

EDIT: as with everyone else, I post that I can't get it, then get it.
