For some reason I thought it was John Wilkes Booth at first. Here's a hint: it's not.

  9. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:09 PM

    Gee thanks ;)

  10. FileSailboatCalloravion on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:10 PM

I was thinking the same thing and I can't get it out of my head.

  11. FileEggplantjtotheh on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:10 PM

[8] Strange, I had thought that too. I had a "duh" moment when I realized who it actually was. But I'm not gonna reveal the answer and be a telltale.

  12. FileSailboatCalloravion on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:13 PM

    Okay, thanks =)

  13. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:16 PM

No one asks for the answer. Just a nudge which way to go.

[11] I should donate my points to you... that was MOST excellent salt. ;)

  14. FileBananarissa2sassy on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:23 PM

You solved this puzzle in 21 minutes and 6 seconds and were the 98th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.

It is not in the form of a question. You don't need the background to solve this one.

  15. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:20 PM

    No? ;)

  16. FilePeachBlueThunderKuno on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:25 PM

    S-Words SABER!!!!

  17. Avatar_profileKiwibefriendmantic on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:25 PM

ugh... missed top 100 because of pluralization.

  18. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:29 PM

    [17] It always is.

  19. DaddysleepsPotatoTankerbay on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:31 PM

Must say, [11]... very nice salt.

  20. FilePancakesMysticalmelody on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:34 PM

Yay... I was happy I knew that guy without having to look anywhere. Good puzzle.

  21. Bunny91Garlicheatherlouwho on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:38 PM

[17] I'm in the same boat. Grrrr....

  22. FilePepperpepperhead on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:44 PM

    [11] thanks good salt

  23. Avatar_profilePeachmaraquin on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:46 PM

    hilarious!

I think you do Trebek, I think you do indeed....

  24. Avatar_profileApplekswitz on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:47 PM

I also thought it was booth.... Hey pepperhead, do you ask for salt alot? he he.

  25. Avatar_profilePotatolaiernie on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:03 PM

(is this less salty?) the answer might sound familiar to people who watch the background a lot

  26. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:06 PM

[25] Yes, much less salty... thanks. :)

  27. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Wed Jan 09, 2008 07:59 PM

Ugh! I was just talking about this guy today, and still couldn't figure it out right away. I guess it's been way too long since 9th grade English class (my teacher was a dead-ringer for the guy!).

  28. Avatar_profileKiwitaznjazz on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:10 PM

    thanks [27]

  29. Current.deal.avOnionmonocle on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:10 PM

I don't hate this puzzle yet... but "random image searches without context" really suck. I have no idea who that grainy old photo is of.

  30. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:13 PM

[29] Go look at [11]... best salt we've got.

  31. Current.deal.avOnionmonocle on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:14 PM

    [30] then I'm screwed

  32. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:21 PM

[31] Especially its last word... take it to heart.

  33. Avatar_profileRadishRastus on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:27 PM

Well I got the name, got the first word, and still don't know what it is.

    :~(

  34. AvatarSailboatjjcool on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:30 PM

got it from the background picture. hopefully people know that the picture isnt actually from the show depicted in the picture.

  35. FileEggmayhew96 on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:36 PM

[34] So that isn't Sean Connery?

  36. FileRocketfizzball on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:47 PM

I this puzzle would be the pits, but the pendulum swung, and I got the answer without much rantin' and ravin'.

  37. Current.deal.avOnionmonocle on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:49 PM

    oh well. I got it.

  38. Avatar_profileStrawberryAthrawn17 on Wed Jan 09, 2008 08:49 PM

With the writer strike on, it seems that SNL shall nevermore have skits like that!

  39. FileEggplantHackmaster12 on Wed Jan 09, 2008 09:07 PM

[35] It is supposed to be, but it isn't. If they find out hi is a Celebrity impersonator, he could be in Jeopardy, the buck futter.

  40. Avatar_profileWatermelonjanniegunn on Wed Jan 09, 2008 09:18 PM

Had the first half as soon as I saw it but the second half of the second part didn't click until I read [25], Thanks.

  41. FileClockJewelia on Wed Jan 09, 2008 09:21 PM

    That was fun!

  42. FilePeachWoody on Wed Jan 09, 2008 09:58 PM

    nice!

  43. Avatar_profileLemonmastabrin on Thu Jan 10, 2008 12:34 AM

even though i have the first part i cant figure out what the 2nd part has to do with SNL

  44. FileSailboatyelowflower on Thu Jan 10, 2008 04:33 AM

This was a fun one, enough salt to get me going but not so much I didn't have to use my brain. Thanks all.

  45. Thunk_logo_colorPotatofachanlahd on Thu Jan 10, 2008 05:02 AM

I knew who the guy was right off, but it was [25]'s salt that put it together for me.

  46. FilePotatoDoomDahDoomDoom on Thu Jan 10, 2008 05:55 AM

I'm glad most of you are having fun with my first contribution to Daily Fun - too bad I was away yesterday and didn't know it was going to be up until this morning... I think enough salt is out there, but if you really can't get it, wait for the hints - I think they're pretty helpful.

  47. Avatar_profileStrawberryxokymberlyxo on Thu Jan 10, 2008 05:56 AM

what do you mean by "salt"?

  48. OtakuavatarPeachalysedai on Thu Jan 10, 2008 06:43 AM

I'll take The Penis Mightier, Alex...

  49. AvatarCarrotrobrizob on Thu Jan 10, 2008 07:13 AM

[46] Fun puzzle and awesome username, DoomDahDoomDoom.

[47] "Salt" is Tanga lingo for hints.

  50. FileStrawberrycmabratte on Thu Jan 10, 2008 07:35 AM

good puzzle, i gotta start signing in on time for these.

  51. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Thu Jan 10, 2008 08:05 AM

[47] Since you're new here (welcome!) you should check out the puzzler FAQ:

    http://www.tanga.com/forum/blogs/980_PUZZLER_FAQS

It tells you about salt and all sorts of other puzzle goodness.

  52. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Thu Jan 10, 2008 08:06 AM

[43] The author could have used the actual gameshow in the background; this way is just funnier!

  53. Avatar_profileWatermelonmrjobez on Thu Jan 10, 2008 08:13 AM

    14 seconds, baby!

  54. FileSailboatIlta on Thu Jan 10, 2008 09:14 AM

[8] I totally thought it was John Wilkes Booth, too! I have no idea why.

[11] gets the prize for awesome salt.

  55. Avatar_profileAceGertSoB on Thu Jan 10, 2008 09:34 AM

And I now know a whole lot more than I ever wanted to about that show. Taking [25]'s salt I read all the WP pages on the show, and eventually found the answer. (Hint: it's NOT on the main page for the show, so don't bother with that one.)

  56. Avatar_profileWatermelonmaufry on Thu Jan 10, 2008 09:34 AM

hrm. the first word was obvious to me, but I never would have gotten the second one without trusty ol google.

  57. Panda-flyGarlicpandapal on Thu Jan 10, 2008 09:48 AM

Thanks for the salt [11] - that gave it to me. I had no idea who that guy was..... And the background cinches it!

  58. FileStrawberryschmucklehead on Thu Jan 10, 2008 09:55 AM

[11] cinched it. "I'll take therapists for a hundred Alex".

  59. FileOnionJohn on Thu Jan 10, 2008 10:31 AM

    "An Album Cover"

  60. Avatar_profileBananaejcarter9 on Thu Jan 10, 2008 11:54 AM

Quoth the Raven: "If I had only known who the guy was I would've gotten it long ago."

  61. FilePlumCaptainDuctTape on Thu Jan 10, 2008 12:58 PM

    "Japan-US Relations" FTW.

  62. FileBananatheChony on Thu Jan 10, 2008 01:12 PM

I wouldn't have ever gotten it if it weren't for the background. I recognized the old man right away because of a certain time traveling Venture Bros. episode. "His head is like a melon!"

  63. FilePepperpepperhead on Thu Jan 10, 2008 01:59 PM

[24] needed a lot of salt this past 7 or so days,

I was ready to blow my seeds the other night on the Hard OWW

  64. Avatar_profileStrawberrySam32 on Thu Jan 10, 2008 02:48 PM

wow, why do we all instantly think this guy was John Wilkes Booth? how strange...

  65. FileBananagrant5 on Thu Jan 10, 2008 03:40 PM

I realized who it is after a minute, but I thought JWB at first too. Do an image search on him in google, and some of the pics look a heck of a lot like the one here, hand in the coat and all.

  66. FileAceldstalk on Thu Jan 10, 2008 04:46 PM

so funny. When I saw what the picture was in the background I knew what the answer was going to be before even looking at the actual puzzle. Was still fun though.

  67. FileOnionJohn on Thu Jan 10, 2008 06:04 PM

I think I would have preferred a teletubby

  68. FileWatermelonCTraviss on Wed Jan 16, 2008 08:36 PM

i know what it is, i just can't spell it?

  69. FilePotatoDoomDahDoomDoom on Fri Jan 18, 2008 11:06 AM

    [67] tele-what?

  70. ShoeAppleslightlyslapdash on Thu Jul 24, 2008 11:51 AM

    YEAH! 828th! Go me! :D

  71. AvadoneDuckiebargellos on Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:48 AM

I read the 3 hints given above and still don't understand it. Now that it's two years later, perhaps someone could just explain the answer, starting with who the guy is.

  72. AvadoneDuckiebargellos on Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:48 AM
