Should have had it quicker than I did. Took a second for the "Aha!" moment.

    Nice puzzle!!

  2. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Jan 15, 2008 07:10 PM

Nicely done. It took me a little bit of time to extract the answer, but it's perfectly sensible.

  3. FileAppleABBAbear on Jan 15, 2008 07:11 PM

Yeah, I liked this puzzle also. Cleverly crafted.

  4. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Jan 15, 2008 07:12 PM

Hmmm; got the titles; now what?

  5. GeckoAppleGolfProRM on Jan 15, 2008 07:15 PM

[4] just do what the puzzle says

  6. 160Carrotbtmeyers on Jan 15, 2008 07:17 PM

    [5] because that helps...

  7. FileEggplantHackmaster12 on Jan 15, 2008 07:18 PM

You solved this puzzle in 2 minutes and 33 seconds and were the 9th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 101 points for solving this.

Very straightforward puzzle. Just center your attention, and follow the instructions.

  8. FileSailboatCalloravion on Jan 15, 2008 07:20 PM

    Awesome puzzle!

  9. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Jan 15, 2008 07:24 PM

[5] Ummmmm, yeah, that's the ticket... Huh?

  10. FileRocketfizzball on Jan 15, 2008 07:26 PM

I would totally go see Sling Runner.

"Sushi, mmm-hmmm...that's what my ex-wife called me, mmm-hmmm"

  11. FileEggplantjtotheh on Jan 15, 2008 07:34 PM

[9] The same directions help twice. It also helped that I wrote my answers to the first part in a fixed-width font.

  12. FileCarrotblahmcblah on Jan 15, 2008 07:37 PM

I like Murdoctor - he always calls it right down the middle.

  13. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Jan 15, 2008 07:50 PM

[11] Yeah, that fixed-width font thing didn't help me at all! Still lost!

  14. FileBananarissa2sassy on Jan 15, 2008 07:54 PM

The salt above isn't helping me.

  15. FileCarrotblahmcblah on Jan 15, 2008 08:00 PM

[14] If you can't see it, there's not much more we can do for you. The answer is probably in between everything you're looking at. Somewhere near the middle...

  16. FileBananarissa2sassy on Jan 15, 2008 08:04 PM

    [15] That did it, thanks!

  17. FileEggplantjtotheh on Jan 15, 2008 08:05 PM

If anyone is still stuck, see if you notice something ODD about the length of your answers to the first part.

  18. PonyguncropBananaPony on Jan 15, 2008 08:12 PM

    Good puzzle. :)

  19. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Jan 15, 2008 08:16 PM

Sheeeeesh! I had the answer staring me in the face forever; I tried putting it all together but I couldn't come up with a meaningful word. I looked again and realized that really was the answer.

Why do I always have trouble with the good doctor's puzzles???

  20. FileSailboatdagibbs on Jan 15, 2008 08:22 PM

You solved this puzzle in 4 minutes and 22 seconds and were the 167th Tanga member to solve it.

[5]'s salt was enough, after I had the titles.

Not sure this qualifies as "hard" one word wonder.

  21. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Jan 15, 2008 08:24 PM

[20] It does if you are braindead like me!

  22. PixelBananaaynjul on Jan 15, 2008 08:29 PM

    Great Puzzle!

  23. PixelBananaaynjul on Jan 15, 2008 08:43 PM

Speaking of that movie... I wonder when the next book is coming out...

Edit: Found my answer Sept 2008 for those that liked the first 2.

  24. FileSailboatcmg528 on Jan 15, 2008 08:57 PM

[23] thanks, that's all I needed to figure out the answer

can't wait for the final book :)

  25. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Jan 15, 2008 10:18 PM

Really nice, Murdoctor. As always. Especially cool (I hope people noticed this) is that the "middle" are, naturally, movies, as well. Love it.

  26. Avatar_profileRadishrmcelroy on Jan 15, 2008 11:04 PM

    Very clever and fun!

  27. FilePancakestempus42 on Jan 16, 2008 05:40 AM

Wow! This one was really neat. I'm always really impressed when a puzzle design is this tight. I just can't imagine how long it takes to find all the information you need to construct something like this. And I'm surprised there actually exists a set of clues that works this way. (Makes me wonder if anyone could come up with a different version of the puzzle that worked the exact same way but had a different answer?)

  28. FileGarlicspamwise on Jan 16, 2008 05:44 AM

    Well crafted, Murdoctor.

You solved this puzzle in 9 hours, 13 minutes and 4 seconds and were the 262nd Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.

Last night I couldn't crack it -- i was rocking side-to-side in misery. And now I'm jumping up and down, I'm so proud.

  30. ScottOnionoberjt on Jan 16, 2008 06:26 AM

YAY! I got one of the hard ones! I couldn't for the life of me get the Vital & Wonders one, though.... GRRR! Nice puzzle!

  31. MickeyKiwisholmste on Jan 16, 2008 08:25 AM

Thanks [17]. Had the titles but couldn't figure out where to go. Down the middle, of course!

  32. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Jan 16, 2008 08:51 AM

[27] I had a handful of other possible clues I could have used, with several other possibilities of final answers... so I'd say it is feasible to construct another similar puzzle with a different answer. However, I chose what I did based on popularity of movies (some of the other choices were more obscure, like "Billy the Kid in Paradise") and the relative smoothness/awkwardness of the middle-merge (such as "My Stepmother is an Nation")... along with the fact that this final answer fits in with the overall theme.

Unfortunately, I did wind up forgoing the use of a few that I liked: "Picture Stranger", "Hold That Rider", and "A Touch of Action".

Glad you all liked the puzzle!

  33. FileKiwichemguy on Jan 16, 2008 11:36 AM

    Nice Puzzle!

  34. FilePlumsjlee on Jan 16, 2008 11:37 AM

IMDB and [31] are all the salt that you need.

  35. Almost-sold-out-product2OnionDrewO on Jan 16, 2008 11:51 AM

    Well crafted.

  36. Avatar_profileOrangeGmcash on Jan 16, 2008 12:13 PM

I think this is the first one I figured out without any help from anyone, helps that I am a movie trivia freak, I guess

I haven't the faintest idea how one is *supposed* to figure this thing out, but [23]'s salt gave it to me, so now I will attempt to backsolve.

  39. FileStrawberrysmilingra on Jan 16, 2008 05:45 PM

great, great puzzle - nicely done!

  40. Picture-303Pumpkingodard on Feb 16, 2008 02:30 PM

I can't solve most of these puzzles, but it helps to work in the DVD industry: You solved this puzzle in 1 minute and 17 seconds and were the 452nd Tanga member to solve it. You earned 3 points for solving this.
