according to Wiki, I have the right answer, but it's not taking it

  2. FileEggplantjtotheh on Mar 06, 2008 07:11 PM

Those of us who could probably understand the solve method best would have perhaps the hardest time solving this puzzle.

  3. FileRocketBearcat89 on Mar 06, 2008 07:13 PM

You almost have to feel your way forward to get the answer...

  4. BearSailboatkarp on Mar 06, 2008 07:14 PM

    I like dominoes...oh, wait those aren't dominoes.

  5. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Mar 06, 2008 07:16 PM

    Well, they ARE, but... :)

The only place I can find domino 2's upper half is in a place I REALLY don't want to go. :(

  6. FileEggplantTintin on Mar 06, 2008 07:15 PM

    Four nice puzzles tonight, scoutmom!

  7. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Mar 06, 2008 07:18 PM

    [6] Thanks!

  8. FileSailboatyelowflower on Mar 06, 2008 07:22 PM

why does that look so familiar?? I should KNOW this!

  9. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Mar 06, 2008 07:24 PM

[8] I bet you could figure these out with your eyes closed

  10. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Mar 06, 2008 07:24 PM

[8] Don't worry, eventually you'll get a feel for the solve method.

  11. FileCarrotblahmcblah on Mar 06, 2008 07:30 PM

Got it from the background image, but the code there is out of date and hard to find...

  12. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Mar 06, 2008 07:31 PM

O woe is me. How did I not see that?????

  13. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Mar 06, 2008 07:32 PM

[11] geez, I got it from wiki.

  14. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Mar 06, 2008 07:32 PM

got the solve method and the clue, but no idea what it is referring to. I am reading the history and it could be one of a bunch of things. Any hint?

  15. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Mar 06, 2008 07:33 PM

[14] Look at the background image.

  16. Castle2PotatoGenecks on Mar 06, 2008 07:33 PM

    100th!, 8min 7 seconds

  17. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Mar 06, 2008 07:33 PM

[14] Although the answer can be found in a number of places (I did verify that) wiki is probably the easiest to find it.

  18. FileDuckiedavey3 on Mar 06, 2008 07:34 PM

I just used the image and figured it out ... not sure I want to solve it using the intended method.

  19. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Mar 06, 2008 07:36 PM

[15] I did - that's what sent me off on the wild googe chase. Got it now by reading the main Wiki article, not the ones linked to in History. Humph - that googe chase chost me the bonus points - 105th.

  20. FileSailboatyelowflower on Mar 06, 2008 07:37 PM

    thank you, got it
    silly me, I KNEW I knew it....time to sleep, that's all. :o)

  21. FileSailboatyelowflower on Mar 06, 2008 07:38 PM

Good set of puzzles tonight scoutmom...thank you.

  22. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Mar 06, 2008 07:40 PM

[18] Why not? It really wasn't very difficult.

  23. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Mar 06, 2008 07:40 PM

[18] Do you want to know?

  24. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Mar 06, 2008 07:47 PM

[22] Once you realize what those things are (and probably more importantly, what they are not), yeah, then it pretty easy to get to the clue.

  25. FileCarrotwarrenzevon on Mar 06, 2008 07:56 PM

Rat pong! Halfway (exactly) to STU!

  26. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Mar 06, 2008 08:01 PM

    [25] Congrats on the 2500!

  27. FileSailboatsteve59 on Mar 06, 2008 08:41 PM

Rat Pong! This was easily my favorite tonight. Not so much a hard, but fun, and I learned something new. Wish it hadn't come out on a Thursday night so I'd have a shot at some of those bonus points everyone's already scooped up.

    Good job, Scoutmom!

  28. FileKiwiDullorb on Mar 06, 2008 10:10 PM

Well I didn't solve it but I got the right answer...

  29. FileGarlicHope2002 on Mar 06, 2008 10:36 PM

The history here is a bit misleading. At least where the answer is concerned. What you see above postdates, but is based upon, what the answer is to the puzzle. What the answer actually refers to was too complicates and never adopted. What is used above was for a different reason entirely.

  30. Current.deal.avOnionmonocle on Mar 06, 2008 10:38 PM

I was shocked to see the picture since I just submitted a puzzle a few days ago using the same "game pieces". I was worried. Then I realized they represent something different. cool puzzle. Maybe mine will come next. :)

  31. FileApplewmshub on Mar 06, 2008 11:43 PM

Nice set of puzzles tonight scoutmom! Got 'em all!

  32. FileWatermelonvividtan on Mar 07, 2008 02:31 AM

  33. Avatar_profilePlumtiprod on Mar 07, 2008 06:33 AM

Tres bon! Fun puzzle -- unexpected and interesting answer.

  34. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Mar 07, 2008 07:14 AM

[30] But the original format would have been very similar to the way this appears and was part of the convoluted thought process used to develop the puzzle. (In other words, the mind sometimes takes a side road!)

  35. FilePumpkinJohn on Mar 07, 2008 11:10 AM

[36] After running out of synonyms -- its a specific answer, not a generic term.

  36. Avatar_profileCarrotkulaid on Mar 07, 2008 11:53 AM

People are referring to a background image. I don't see any background image. What am I supposed to see in the background? I've already solved it, but would like to know what I was supposed to see.

  37. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Mar 07, 2008 12:28 PM

[37] I'm betting you have an LCD monitor - you might have to tip it on an angle or adjust your brightness and contrast. In the background is a cavalry soldier from a specific era and country, carrying a flag. If you are a wargamer and/or history buff, you know what army he represents.

  38. FileOnionTwench on Mar 07, 2008 01:39 PM

Could someone please TG me the solve method. I got the answer, but based on sheer guesses from the salt here.

  39. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Mar 07, 2008 02:23 PM

    [39] TG sent
