Ah, the question of the ages - what, indeed, is salt? Salt = NaCl = "Need a clue, laddie!". Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

ok :D so any clues?

I'm tryin...no luck.

Edit: There we go! :D

Hello sports racers. Good luck to all of you. Don't let the salinity of this test contradict your puzzle-sovlvyness. If all else fails, remember Descartes (I think therefore i am)

It figures that the day they publish my puzzle, they start a special contest that gets all of the comments.

Although, really, my puzzle doesn't need any discussion...

[Aaron here]

I've got a feeling there will be plenty said about your little puzzle...

I personally love it.

The "salt" reference led me so totally astray - I checked the numbers against the periodic table, but as it turns out, "Fnancoblin" isn't a word.

you sound as bedaffled as me

Arg...I don't know how these things work. Help!!

it is bedaffling isnt it?

it isnt "number = letter of alphabet"
ikjhecg is just jibberish

I have no answers, but I did get a tanga account, and now i want a new dvd player. Thanks Ze!

I have no idea what it could possibly be. I don't even know where to begin. Well, I did determine that ikjhecg is nonsense.

You've gotta listen to the whole thing...
Sort of.

[19] That got it for me. Pretty straight forward once you find the decoder.

wheres the decoder?

Scrap resorts! I'd rather go to a Ze party than listen to crass reports!

I caught something when I listened to it. But does that mean subtract or add the difference?

Ahh, got it. Remember, Ze fans - you are the decoder.

[10] Allenzo
Thanks!

48th, yay, thanks for the timekiller ze im gonna have some fun with this site

keep it up sports racers this one isnt that tough

Haven't we done this sort of thing before? Many times before?

i must be an idiot. i thought i found a few clues but none panned out.

dang! i'll never get this. anybody want to help me out?

[28] fakehouseplant

I have nothing yet. Two heads are better than one....

So there he/it was.... staring me in the face.

My sad timing due to intermittent talking/ eating pizza... nonetheless, this is going to be a blast!

[30] Thosw

Huh? Now I am more confused.

[32]hld1970, salt cleanup, aisle [26]....

I thought I had an epiphany about this, but I was wrong. Nuts.

34] vaevictus

Ok, now you are toying with me. I solve the Tanga puzzle each night but now I don't think I could find water if I fell out of a boat.

Would it be too salty to say that the bus driver is 40?

For all the newbies here tonight:
There is another website that the tangans use to talk about the tanga puzzles. This now has Ze puzzle discussion interspersed with the daily puzzle discussion.

The first post for tonight's Ze puzzle starts at:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/1344541#13...

enjoy!

P.S. On the Origin of "Salt"

In November 2006,
Someone inadvertently got confused between typing the answer in the Tanga answer box and typing something in the Tanga Blog message box. Don't ask how that is possible. Anyway, he typed "salt" in the blog but supposedly was trying to answer the puzzle. Turns out "salt" was the answer.

Everyone was quite alarmed to see the answer so plainly displayed here.

Within four days it was common practice at Tanga to call any strong clues "salt".

wow, I feel dumb about not getting this earlier

[39] I feel dumb all the time here. But its oh-so-buttery saltiness is addictive...

Finally, the light dawned. I am a moron. Thank you to pb and xps for putting up with me. Thosw- I still don't see how your bus driver comment helps at all.

Night all.

Sneaky BUGGER! I got it. His instructions really do make sense after all. Good luck!

Dangit, I left my computer on while I ate pizza and wasn't trying to solve the puzzle! So it says it took me over two freakin' hours! hahah! Anyway, glad that's solved---sneaky indeed :)

[43] kaninchen
The timer starts the first time you look at the puzzle. Even if you turn off your computer, come back and reboot, and re-login it will still count from when you first looked at the puzzle. That's the Tanga way

crap, still not getting it. anybody have aim so i can work this out and say what i have tried?
i really want to figure it out and everything i try doesnt work.

Erm, what?

for this puzzle...

If you register, you can send and receive "geekmail" with the other people - and many tangans are registered.

If you are going to register, you can geekmail (or GM) me there with what you have.

Reply here and I will look for your GM there (it will take you a few minutes to register).

My BGG username is pbleadfoot...

Oh my god...
I came here after seeing today's video from Ze and think "I better get looking through the archives and learn how to do this." and thought I would get any that were similar to the ones in there. No knowledge of Ze is needed for it. It's all in there...
Combine the following with the other clues:
It's not the alphabet...

ok got it. that was a lot easier than i was making it out to be. i guess i'm glad i'm not a hard charger...

AHHH! this is driving me insane that i cant figure it out.

zefrank is dumb . good job tanga

Since this is the first puzzle, and there are likely to be a lot of newbies:

Look for a twelve letter phrase to decode the numbers.

Sorry if that seems too strong a hint, but IMO, this first puzzle runs the risk of scaring away newcomers before they have a chance to become engaged.

Anyone who needs stronger help, do check out the BGG link mentioned above.

{Aaron responds}

Thanks, John. You have proved that Tanga is a land of opportunity, welcoming newcomers.

Don't you get it, Sports Racer?

YOU are the answer.

Mmm... salty goodness.

HAHAH! i feel like an idiot!

Sportsracer...racin' SPORTS!

What's your powermove?

This one made me feel stupid.
Worked on it as a rot 17 or some variation there of for a while then got it right after I read [10] -_-

I finally got it due to the major duty salt [53] John gave and having done Tanga puzzles for a while now. I feel stupid that I didn't get the connection on my own. Thanks. Hopefully I will be able to solve the rest without so much salt.

Sheeesh. Talk about thinking my way beyond the obvious on this one. But once I got it, it all made sense.

Sometimes the puzzles are easy, many, many times they are not.

I think the salt was flowing a little more than usual tonight to help out all the new people.

Check out the archived puzzles (and answers) from the Daily Fun tab for previous months. This will give you a better idea of the range of difficulty.

Welcome!

First one I've done, and like all the rest, I have to say that that was a lot easier than I was making it out to be. NaCl did help, though had to puzzle about it for, well over an hour! Try to remember what we are, and how the numbers FIT IN.

Good luck ya'll.

Wow! 25 new posters tonight!

Tanga seems fun, a nice little treasure to discover.

Looks like us Sportsracers and you Tanga Regulars are going to become friends over the next while. Nice to meet you!

By the way, to any sportsracers out there, don't give up, you can get this! Get used to the fact that the term "salt" should not be taken literally, it just means that the answer is "obvious", and simply take Ze at what he said. Ask yourself, if you're the decoder, who are you?

No, I didn't check for salt before trying it. Though attempting the Kennedy/Reagan puzzle earlier today did put me in the right frame of mind. Looking forward to more puzzles - not just the ze ones! Great site, guys and thanks!

Just a newbie thanking everyone for all the salt!

ok this is just frustrating. i can't get this and it's been bugging me all night. i'm usually really good with puzzles but this one is just evading me.

please please please someone email me with some help that's more salty than the stuff on here so far: husayndas at gmail dot com

thanks.

I'm losing it. I'm going wild eyed bonkers.

Every hint points to the same answer, but that answer is wrong. The Ze Frank forums, the BGG forums and posts in this blog all point to the same answer.

Why is it wrong? Why is it wrong?

I think I need to go pray.

I seriously have been contemplating suicide for the past hour.

[71] husayndas
DON'T DO IT!!!

Have you checked out BoardGameGeek.com? (BGG)
