  5. FileEggmnemonica on Thu Mar 20, 2008 07:20 PM

    Nice.

  6. 188227_100Rocketmaluba on Thu Mar 20, 2008 07:21 PM

those first two pics are really the frosting on the cake.

  7. Avatar_profileEggmagraf7 on Thu Mar 20, 2008 07:32 PM

Just not getting the chalked figure

  8. FileAppleuriel_343 on Thu Mar 20, 2008 07:43 PM

Got confused by the ghost of Walt Whitman.

  9. Avatar_profileOrangejarbucky on Thu Mar 20, 2008 07:45 PM

Any salt for that last picture? or am I just missing something really obvious?

  10. FileClockJewelia on Thu Mar 20, 2008 08:03 PM

    Fun one, scoutmom!

[7] It's what was there, but isn't there any more.

[9] It's an old children's TV show, but you may know it better from your monthly bills.

  11. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Thu Mar 20, 2008 08:04 PM

[8] Shouldn't be any confusion at all, he started this whole thing!

  12. Avatar_profileOrangejarbucky on Fri Mar 21, 2008 02:45 PM

is [6] salt or a red herring? I'm getting nowhere starting that way . . .

EDIT: Meh. Whatever. It's late and I'm sure I'm making this harder than it is. Goodnight tanga.

EDIT: Day 2. [6] is a huge red herring. That'll have you down every possible sort of rabbit trail. Also, you will want cake. And herring.

  13. Current.deal.avOnionmonocle on Thu Mar 20, 2008 08:30 PM

I don't get it. and the background image between the bottom two images confused me.

  14. FileTomatotlmitch7 on Thu Mar 20, 2008 08:35 PM

[13] I don't get it either, I know the last image, but that viking lady doesn't fit at all.

WHAT!! there is an image there???

Now I don't feel so bad about not getting this one, that I know you haven't either, unless you really did get it and this is just your comment on it.

  15. FileTomatotlmitch7 on Thu Mar 20, 2008 08:37 PM

Wow that is weird, if I look at my monitor at an angle I can see some bearded guy, but my eyes SUCK!!

  16. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Thu Mar 20, 2008 08:44 PM

[8] Uhhhh, who? Did he invent the Whitman Sampler?

Edit: Was I really supposed to know that was him by that background image? I didn't even see that it was there. I don't know how anyone could even tell that's who it is, unless you have really good eyes.

  17. FileTomatotlmitch7 on Thu Mar 20, 2008 08:48 PM

Who would know, can't hardly see it. Heck I never even knew it was there until monocle mentioned it, no wonder I couldn't get this puzzle. So is that a viking, is it what she is doing, yell, shout, scream, no idea on this.

  18. FileTomatotlmitch7 on Fri Mar 21, 2008 12:30 AM

I thought [8] was talking about the chalk figure all this time, like that is who was chalked around, ha.
Got it, but I never heard of that before, ever. Who ever said that??
The phantom image does not seem to matter one way or the other in solving.

  19. FileSailboatdagibbs on Thu Mar 20, 2008 09:06 PM

[14] What is the viking lady doing?

  20. FileKiwiDullorb on Thu Mar 20, 2008 09:24 PM

c'mon we all should know what the fat lady does...

  21. English_d_betterApplemrdehate on Thu Mar 20, 2008 09:25 PM

Wow, so after much consideration, I just typed in what I was saying out loud as a wild guess and it worked. I really appreciate the solution explanation on puzzles like this, because I had never heard of the answer before!

  22. FileOnionRickj4029 on Thu Mar 20, 2008 10:58 PM

If there is something in the background it is not viewable, period.

  23. Sc002a57f6Pumpkinrunart on Thu Mar 20, 2008 11:22 PM

A beautiful puzzle referencing something very beautiful. Thanks scoutmom, loved it.

  24. FileRocketsteelersluver on Fri Mar 21, 2008 05:42 AM

I went with [21] and got it, but I wan't familiar with this, so I also appreciated the solution being displayed now.

  25. Thunk_logo_colorPotatofachanlahd on Fri Mar 21, 2008 06:51 AM

I don't know about the Walt Whitman connection, but the movie Fame comes to mind.

  26. FilePumpkinJohnQ118 on Fri Mar 21, 2008 06:54 AM

the hints W and TTZ are so faint that I didn't even see them. solved it without but next time, Make The Hints More Noticable, Please. (just because it shows on YOUR monitor doesn't mean it shows on anyone elses)

  27. 9546024128a0d196c63ac010.l_3Bananamagisterludi on Fri Mar 21, 2008 07:52 AM

Ah, scoutmom, what you shall assume, I shall assume.

    Fantastic puzzle!

And leave the grass to me.

  28. FileSailboatRunAmuck on Fri Mar 21, 2008 08:10 AM

salt and Google were my friends

  29. Avatar_profileGrapesjshurt on Fri Mar 21, 2008 09:57 AM

The answer is really obscure. Couldn't have done it without Google. Just type in what you see and you'll get your answer. Thanks [10] your hints did it for me.

  30. FileBananatheChony on Fri Mar 21, 2008 11:56 AM

Thank God for those Twilight Zone marathons or I may have struggled with this one.

  31. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Fri Mar 21, 2008 12:16 PM

[26] And to all who could not view the background "hints" - I actually did "test" the background on multiple monitors and tweaked it accordingly. Unfortunately, making it more noticeable for some makes it TOO obvious for others. If your monitor is optimized for gaming, you probably will miss most of the "background" images.

I actually thought the pic clues were sufficient on their own without those, they were just kind of an "added bonus" anyway.

[29] Obscure? Well, maybe not the most widely known saying, but it covers a very broad spectrum - Science Fiction, Television, Music and Classic Poetry.

  32. Superstar.phpWatermelonRipRap on Sun Mar 23, 2008 04:16 PM

    WHAT background images???

  33. Avatar_profileApplelynnyj on Wed Mar 26, 2008 02:41 PM

    I love it!

  34. Img_3664_640x480Strawberryearthvssoup on Thu May 15, 2008 12:46 PM

LEAVES something to be desired. :P

  35. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Wed Jun 04, 2008 09:34 AM

    [34] haha, thanks!
