Good thing I had a man here next to me to help me out with picture #2! That was a first for a cross sectional view of...picture #2! I'm glad I got it fast so I didn't have to stare at it for a long time! :)
I was going to submit a very similar cryptopix, though I would not have had that second image.
Absolutely hilarious puzzle! I solved it in 9 seconds, most of which was waiting for it to load, and only looked at the first pic, so I just now noticed that the Smiths are positioned so that they look like they're holding hands, and that second picture! Awesome, monocle, just awesome!

I finally got the answer after 10 minutes ( with help from my daughter ) because I got stuck thinking it was a fifth wheel gooseneck ball hitch. :D
With enough salt, I could get who the picture was... then it all came together.
