Oh, man, this is HeatherLou's salt post all over the place!

  2. FileSailboatzyzzva on Feb 26, 2008 07:05 PM

You solved this puzzle in 1 minute and 32 seconds and were the 6th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 105 points for solving this.

guessed it based on the pics in the background.

  3. Avatar_12-08Pancakesthreehojos on Feb 26, 2008 07:05 PM

got it from a guess - no idea on the actual solve method

  4. Avatar_profilePlumDaveStory on Feb 26, 2008 07:10 PM

I guessed as well, but cannot figure out intended method

  5. Avatar_profileKiwiFauxRed on Feb 26, 2008 07:10 PM

    Nicely done!

  6. FileGarlicHope2002 on Feb 26, 2008 07:10 PM

Got it on a guess, too.

  7. Bunny91Garlicheatherlouwho on Feb 26, 2008 07:13 PM

    Ummm?

  8. AvatarDuckiesteph_frolin on Feb 26, 2008 07:14 PM

Hey guessers - TG me what you used for your guess, I'm two curious.

    No salt here

  9. FileDuckiedavey3 on Feb 26, 2008 07:16 PM

Another guesser here ... used the background pictures (as [2] suggested).

  10. FileTomatotlmitch7 on Feb 26, 2008 07:18 PM

I can't make much out in the background, it is hard to see for me.

  11. FileCarrotblahmcblah on Feb 26, 2008 07:23 PM

I have no idea what the background pictures are.

  12. FilePeachSkittlebrau on Feb 26, 2008 07:26 PM

I know three of the four..... still nothing...

  13. Avatar_profileRocketmz on Feb 26, 2008 07:35 PM

The upper right one really helps, especially if you know his early work...

*goes to make lots and lots of popcorn*

  14. FileSailboatzyzzva on Feb 26, 2008 07:39 PM

[12] all i needed was the bottom right pic. when u say this word, u usually come up with him. (dont forget, there are multiple ppl)

  15. Avatar_profileStrawberryWontGrowUp on Feb 26, 2008 07:39 PM

Got it on a background guess, but looking back, there is a method.

  16. FileSailboatzyzzva on Feb 26, 2008 07:45 PM

[15] care to enlighten me on the method with a TG? i can see why the answer is 8 letters long, but thats all i can get...

  17. EarlyCarrotxanadudan on Feb 26, 2008 07:45 PM

    Guessed based on background.

  18. FileDuckienrkii on Feb 26, 2008 07:47 PM

I can't see the pictures well enough to make any use of them

  19. FilePumpkinperihelion on Feb 26, 2008 07:49 PM

I, too, guessed, but I just figured out the solve method. You're evil, Steph, but I say that in a good way.

  20. FilePeachSkittlebrau on Feb 26, 2008 07:49 PM

[14] The right word was one of the first I checked. But I did not pluralize!

  21. Avatar_profileStrawberryWontGrowUp on Feb 26, 2008 07:51 PM

[16] You can count on the answer to be hidden in the clues.

  22. AvatarDuckiesteph_frolin on Feb 26, 2008 07:53 PM

    [21] spills the salt

  23. Avatar_profileStrawberryInsouciant on Feb 26, 2008 07:54 PM

Guessed twice on the background after reading these comments, but could only identify the bottom right photo. Got the answer on the 2nd guess which was more than one (my first guess) since there are 4 pictured. I'll stare at it a while longer to see if I can work out any other way to determine/deduce the answer from the text.

  24. FileDuckieescKey on Feb 26, 2008 08:02 PM

[14] DANGIT!! That was my first guess except without the plural.

  25. Bunny91Garlicheatherlouwho on Feb 26, 2008 08:10 PM

    [24] Me too. GEEZ!

  26. Bunny91Garlicheatherlouwho on Feb 26, 2008 08:13 PM

I just figured out the solve method, too. BRILLIANT(s), Steph! I wish I'd used it instead of guessing from the background!

  27. AvatarDuckiesteph_frolin on Feb 26, 2008 08:52 PM

I had a different background originally, but testers found this one to be more on topic. Too on topic apparently.

  28. Avatar_profileGrapesJasonLP on Feb 26, 2008 09:56 PM

Hee hee hee...very nice solve method.

  29. FileBananaBobcat on Feb 27, 2008 12:10 AM

Heh.. Yeah, I liked that one.

So, fess up.. who here got it *without* guessing based on the background?

  30. Ronald-mcd-3EggKilgore on Feb 27, 2008 12:29 AM

I agree with [26] -the backsolve was more fun! However, being one to rarely guess (from a picture or not)correctly, I do take some satifaction from a successful guess...although I did read the posts, so it wasn't a blind guess... :) Good one, Steph_frolin!

  31. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Feb 27, 2008 12:34 AM

    [29] Me.

I got it guessing based on these posts :)

But I totally see how it should be solved. Nice.

  32. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Feb 27, 2008 05:00 AM

Very clever puzzle - well done steph!
Got it from the images also - but it backsolves beautifully!

  33. Current.deal.avOnionmonocle on Feb 27, 2008 07:03 AM

I still have no idea what the right solve method is. I see nothing.

  34. FilePeachIotaEmerlis on Feb 27, 2008 07:46 AM

    GAH! I was mis-spelling it!

  35. MickeyKiwisholmste on Feb 27, 2008 09:19 AM

I tried guessing and got nothing but finally found the solve method. Very clever technique!

[21] is right on. Some English teachers tell you how long your essay needs to be based upon this. Now you have what is referenced in the first tip.

  36. FileLemonnysemt on Feb 27, 2008 09:23 AM

I got it, but I have NO idea how. lol Guess I'm some sort of freaking genius... or at least that's what TANGA says. I tend to disagree.

  37. FileRocketDeniz on Feb 27, 2008 10:49 AM

[13] One of my favorite movies.

  38. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Feb 27, 2008 11:58 AM

Very tricky for an "easy" puzzle... I guessed based on the background, then backsolved it. I like the method, though.

EDIT: What's funny is your "four example" turned out to be a "FALSE SOLVE METHOD" for me.

  39. FilePepperChupper on Feb 27, 2008 12:27 PM

[13] and [14] were super salty for me. Thanks Mitch and Chris.

  40. FilePeppercyncat on Feb 27, 2008 12:52 PM

[38] Oh, Murdoctor, you should have asked for salt, first. Then Steph would have been reminded of his "signs that your puzzle is in trouble" list, and he would have had a good chuckle! :)

    Nice puzzle.

  41. Avatar_profileBananatrevelyan on Feb 27, 2008 12:59 PM

IT would have been alot more fun without the background images. The solve method is pretty cool. Good job.

  42. Avatar_profileLemoncaltronjr on Feb 27, 2008 01:45 PM

Thanx 14, that was what i needed for a coorect guess...

  43. TangausagiAppleshugyosha on Feb 27, 2008 02:02 PM

Guessed based on the salt, but still don't see the solve method. I think I tried a lot of the things [38] was trying too.

Don't like solving puzzles by guesses and would rather they weren't "guessable" like that. Don't feel like I earned my points (though I put in more than enough time...)

  44. FileSailboatyelowflower on Feb 27, 2008 05:17 PM

[14] I was so caught up in the other two puzzles I actually forgot I had not done this one!!! I looked and looked and and tried the singular, never thought of there being more than one person then tried that and there it was! thanks

  45. FileSailboatyelowflower on Feb 27, 2008 05:19 PM

[41] I would be interested in the solve method, as I really didn't use one.

  46. AvatarDuckiesteph_frolin on Feb 27, 2008 05:38 PM
