  3. FileCarrotwarrenzevon on Mar 01, 2008 07:05 PM

LOL @ "stumped" - since that is all that would be left after the third pic was removed!

  4. FileAppledingo262 on Mar 01, 2008 07:05 PM

Ack - down to 61st because of punctuation - or a lack thereof!

knowing the answer is a must, too

  12. FileSailboatyelowflower on Mar 01, 2008 07:11 PM

[11] lol, yeah that helps a lot

  13. FileSailboatyelowflower on Mar 01, 2008 07:12 PM

and is it just me or are we missing a puzzle tonight?

  14. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Mar 01, 2008 07:13 PM

When I went to school, this rocked the house.

  15. FileRadishBetaPrime on Mar 01, 2008 07:14 PM

I just found out all these years, I had the 2nd word wrong. Always thought it repeats the 1st word.

  16. FileClockJewelia on Mar 01, 2008 07:14 PM

BTW, that thing on the bottom is not a wooden wine bottle, it's used to row a boat!

  17. FileSailboatyelowflower on Mar 01, 2008 07:15 PM

hey! [16] that's about the ONLY thing I've gotten out of this one so far, that and the silly wabbit lol

  18. Try_4Sailboatsnork on Mar 01, 2008 07:16 PM

    [14] I like it!

  19. FileCarrotwarrenzevon on Mar 01, 2008 07:17 PM

[13] from what I have read, it was up earlier and we missed it!

  20. FileSailboatyelowflower on Mar 01, 2008 07:17 PM

[19] really? how much earlier, I've been checking the site since 8:30 and haven't seen it.

  21. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Mar 01, 2008 07:18 PM

It was apparently up BRIEFLY at 9:20 Eastern

  22. FileCarrotwarrenzevon on Mar 01, 2008 07:19 PM

[20] I read Domino's comments on the HOWW - he didn't say when, just that he completed it, unless his comment was a red herring!

  23. FileSailboatyelowflower on Mar 01, 2008 07:19 PM

hhmm...they are timed now? that's just NOT fair!!! sniff sniff,,,I want my puzzle back!
    <g>

  24. FileTomatotlmitch7 on Mar 01, 2008 07:19 PM

The new hypercross came up a little after 9:00, then shortly after that, after one person completed it, it dissapeared.

  25. FileCarrotwarrenzevon on Mar 01, 2008 07:23 PM

This is getting to be like the products - you never know when they come or go, but if you wait a while, they come back, only cheaper!

  26. FileSailboatyelowflower on Mar 01, 2008 07:25 PM

well I'm batting 0 for 3 tonight, that is NOT good lol

  27. FileTomatotlmitch7 on Mar 01, 2008 07:36 PM

(14)Scoutmom, so far was the best salt for me. Looked that up and finally found it.

  28. FileSailboatyelowflower on Mar 01, 2008 07:40 PM

[27] how did you look that up? I tried verbatim as well as combo's - no luck

  29. FilePepperChupper on Mar 01, 2008 07:46 PM

What do you puzzlemakers have against correct punctuation?

  30. FileRadishBetaPrime on Mar 01, 2008 07:47 PM

You need to know what type of ship it is. Might be something you find in a bag of Tanga Trash.

  31. FileTomatotlmitch7 on Mar 01, 2008 07:51 PM

I don't see how anyone would get that word from that pic, I kept saying 'shipleg', not even close. Maybe you have to figure out what the ship is full of.

  32. FileGarlicHope2002 on Mar 01, 2008 07:52 PM

[29] People complain when it is correct and when it is not correct. This one split the difference with one used and one skipped.

  33. FileGarlicHope2002 on Mar 01, 2008 07:53 PM

[31] It's what kind it is.

  34. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Mar 01, 2008 07:54 PM

If you lived in the Song dynasty between 960-1270 you would have seen many of these. The English pronunciation of the word fits with [30]

    :)

  35. FileOnionmetafor on Mar 01, 2008 08:12 PM

    Okay...tried 7 different spellings and punctuations...none take....can I tanga someone please?

  36. FileDuckiespoofme on Mar 01, 2008 09:52 PM

Ok, I've got the 'wooden wine bottle', the album, and the type of ship. Thats where my trail goes cold. Any help with pictures 1 and 3?

    NVM, thanks to [39]

  37. PonyguncropBananaPony on Mar 01, 2008 08:45 PM

Great- now I'm gonna have the song stuck in my head. ;p

  38. FilePumpkinRickj4029 on Mar 01, 2008 08:59 PM

    Very poor puzzle.

I solved it but have never heard of it.

It's not a "ship" nor is it a "leg".

The album is also virtually unknown.

Other than Bugs Bunny and the prisoner (which is also not intuitive) nothing is what it appears to be.

  39. Avatar_profileBananablakeapeterso on Mar 01, 2008 09:47 PM

I solved the puzzle and through back-solving finally figured out what the leg is meant to represent. Maybe there should be an arrow pointing to the front? If it had been more obvious it would have been easier to overlook the wooden wine bottle.

    fun puzzle nonetheless

  40. FileSailboatdagibbs on Mar 01, 2008 10:01 PM

    Gah!

The boats and rabbit were the only part I got right off the start.

  41. DaddysleepsPotatoTankerbay on Mar 01, 2008 10:10 PM

There are THREE punctuation in the correct title (according to their site)... that's 6 combos... try just the apostrophe

  42. Avatar_profileWatermelonStephenRadford on Mar 01, 2008 10:37 PM

    good salt 14

  43. Avatar_profileRocketsloshr on Mar 01, 2008 11:54 PM

I figured it out, but still have no idea about the ship. I like the tanga trash idea better.

  44. Avatar_profilePeachdmagoo on Mar 02, 2008 12:04 AM

Thanks [41] I was getting aggravated. I think tanga should just strip all punctuation when checking the answer. That, or leave it as an option for the puzzle designer.

  45. FileGrapesMadHatir on Mar 02, 2008 08:53 AM

    Thanks to [15] and [39]

  46. FileDuckiedavey3 on Mar 02, 2008 10:03 AM

    This puzzle rocks!

  47. FilePepperChupper on Mar 02, 2008 11:45 AM

[38] I wouldn't call this a "very poor puzzle." I didn't personally care for the ship clue, but I got the leg, "bottle," and album immediately, then backfilled the rest. There are pretty darn famous sayings and titles that we all haven't heard of, so just because you don't know it doesn't make it a bad puzzle.

  48. Avatar_profileStrawberryNerdDad on Mar 02, 2008 11:48 AM

This was an excellent puzzle. Brought back wonderful memories.

  49. FileCarrotpitamuffin on Mar 02, 2008 12:20 PM

Wow, I thought this was a great puzzle. Good job Tintin.

  50. Avatar_profileCherriesholland227 on Mar 02, 2008 01:39 PM

Great Puzzle. Finally got it when I figured out the leg part

  51. FileWatermelonCTraviss on Mar 02, 2008 04:09 PM

i don't get how it is what it is, but i got it.

  52. FileWatermelonCTraviss on Mar 02, 2008 04:11 PM

okay. my husband just did it after me, and figured it out and explained what the things are. Chinese? come on. who would have known that.

  53. AvatarSailboatjjcool on Mar 02, 2008 07:12 PM

again with the punctuation. if you aren't going to use the right punctuation, why use any at all?

  54. FilePumpkinRickj4029 on Mar 03, 2008 11:00 PM

[47] It's not a bad puzzle because I've never heard of it and it is hardly "famous". (I have also been around long enough to have heard just about everything.)

It is a bad puzzle because the clues sucked.

  55. FilePumpkinJohnQ118 on Apr 06, 2008 01:12 AM

[solved this puzzle in 45 seconds and were the 538th Tanga member to solve ]
is that fast? took that long to say it, I think.
