  2. FileBananaahecht on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:03 PM

    bcdghjkpqvwz?

  3. FileDuckiespamwise on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:06 PM

    Bless you.

  4. FileOnionJohn on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:06 PM

There is no I in team.

Also, I can't get "When I'm 64" out of my head.

  5. Avatar_profilePearmundane on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:08 PM

    Frame, Ray, Male
    One, Sixty-Four
    Ring, Team, Nine

    Now what?

  6. Donimo_pirate_beatlesEggDonimo on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:08 PM

and "One is the Loneliest Number"

  7. FileGrapesxpsdude on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:08 PM

Trying leftmost stuff but nothing thus far

  8. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:09 PM

    [2] ahecht
    "bcdghjkpquvwz?" I got
    "bcdghjkpqvxz?"

  9. Avatar_profilePearmundane on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:11 PM

    I've got "bcdhjkpqvwz"

  10. FilePancakesjmcintyre on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:11 PM

[5] #2 could also be a manta, no?

  11. FileRadishThosw on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:12 PM

1, 9 and 64 also have something else in common, but I'm not sure it's intentional.

    //

"There is no I in team."

There's also no crying in baseball. What's your point? :u)

  12. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:12 PM

Yeah, but for the sneezers (me included) some of the words are redundant to get the list of letters....

[10] I have it as a sting ray...

  13. DotSailboatwererat on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:15 PM

I had to go look at Google images to figure out the ray; the matching one is labeled as a manta ray.

  14. FilePancakesjmcintyre on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:16 PM

[12] ambiguity is tough when there's no discernable theme

  15. FileCheeseburgerErich on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:16 PM

    # It took you 11 minutes and 14 seconds to solve this puzzle.
    # You were the 1st Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

I should have recognized the "1" sooner -- the others
    are more general.

    [10] It's a ray.

    Nice puzzle!

  16. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:20 PM

    "what's left"?
    FRMOSFRTN
    ...
    Frame and Ring

  17. Avatar_profilePearmundane on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:20 PM

[15] Does the one belong to a specific player?

  18. Avatar_profileGrapessoftserve06 on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:22 PM

[15] Is there a second step? I've got something, but can't seem to do anything with it.

    [17] Nope.

  19. FileCheeseburgerErich on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:24 PM

    [17] It's not a "who", it's a "what".

Also, this puzzle isn't like yesterday's.

  20. FileStrawberryPenh on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:25 PM

Argh, agh, I've recognized the one and things fell into place from there, but I'm stuck on one last bit. Gah!

  21. Phi3CornPhilana on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:26 PM

    Got it! Clever puzzle.

  22. FileEggplantMrPlow99 on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:28 PM

[18] i think i'm in the same place you are. i have a phrase, not sure what it means though

  23. FileStrawberryPenh on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:28 PM

    # It took you 26 minutes and 55 seconds to solve this puzzle.
    # You were the 3rd Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

Whew! That one hurt. To save someone else a possible brain injury, let me just say that you'll have to answer that question twice on your way to the final answer.

  24. FileCheeseburgerErich on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:28 PM

[18] I think most folks have got a pretty good idea
of what the pictures are -- next step is to figure
    out the common element.

The question at the bottom is helpful in two separate
    steps.

  25. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:29 PM

It took you 9 minutes and 22 seconds to solve this puzzle.
    * You were the 5th Tanga member to solve this puzzle.
    * Average solve time: 15 minutes and 0 seconds.
    * Median solve time: 11 minutes and 14 seconds.

    Clever.

  26. FileRadishSpire on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:29 PM

    Ninth. I liked this one!

  27. FileSailboatchubbchsr on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:30 PM

    * Median solve time: 11 minutes and 41 seconds.

    GROAN!!!!

  28. Avatar_profilePearmundane on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:30 PM

[24] That got it for me, thanks!

  29. FileEggplantMrPlow99 on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:32 PM

got it now. the others were right about using the clue twice. what they left out is that you use the clue differently the 2nd time.

  30. Avatar_profileEggplantjammer1001 on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:34 PM

It took you 27 minutes and 36 seconds to solve this puzzle.
You were the 14th Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

I fell for that one. Total salt solve Thanks BGG.

  31. FileRadishSpire on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:34 PM

BTW, I also recognized the "1" immediately; for me, it was the key to the unifying theme of the clues. (I got a little stuck on a later step, though.)

For anyone who's stuck: Stare at the "1" and try to figure out where you've seen it before. It can be rare, but I like it that way.

  32. Avatar_profileGrapessoftserve06 on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:36 PM

[27]...my thoughts exactly! Nice one, though.

  33. FileDuckiespamwise on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:36 PM

I believe that makes 10. I'll go ahead and answer now.

To those who've solved, thanks for the clever comments. To those who are stuck, things are pretty clear over at BGG. I could say that, if you're stuck, you're closer than you think... but that would only be amusing to those who have already solved. :)

  34. FilePancakesjmcintyre on Tue Apr 24, 2007 07:43 PM

Wow the floodgates opened after [30]. I was 52nd.

    Nice one!

  35. FileOrangesshoultz on Tue Apr 24, 2007 08:00 PM

I was confused, bewildered, puzzled, AND frustrated.... and then I got it!

  36. Avatar_profileLemondoinky37 on Tue Apr 24, 2007 08:08 PM

I know the 1 and the 64, but nothing else is making sense...

Is it a 3-2-3 format (like three words) or is it just 8 letters?

  37. FileDuckiedavey3 on Tue Apr 24, 2007 08:11 PM

[31] - I could have stared at that "1" forever and not figured out what it referred to.

I'm amazed that a few people were able to key into that and solve this one. Well done solvers! I guess it was a good puzzle if you had the right sauce, but it needed a bit too much salt for my taste.

  38. Avatar_profileWatermelonBooalready on Tue Apr 24, 2007 08:21 PM

Nice. I was lazy and read the salt first. But I would not have gotten the 1. Been a looong time since I have used that stuff. Still, it's a good puzzle!

  39. Thunk_logo_colorPotatofachanlahd on Wed Apr 25, 2007 04:47 AM

    # It took you 13 minutes and 41 seconds to solve this puzzle.
    # You were the 171st Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

I wouldn't have gotten this without the salt on BGG. In fact I wouldn't even call that salt over there, it's more like the entire meal, condiments and all.

I was totally going in the wrong direction with this puzzle and would never had made the aha leap needed to solve it without the BGG salt.

  40. FileDuckiespamwise on Wed Apr 25, 2007 05:18 AM

    [36] The 3-2-3 is intentional.

As to the importance of "1", it's a helpful nudge if you recognize it. However, the puzzle could have been presented in plain text as follows:

Start with mundane's comment in [5].
    - change the numbers from words to numerals
    - change one word to a homophone
    - change "Now what?" back to "What's left?"

  41. FilePlumsjlee on Wed Apr 25, 2007 10:08 AM

    [40] still doesn't help me.

    Step 1
    Frame, Ray, Male
    One, Sixty-Four
    Ring, Team, Nine

    Now what?

    Step 2
    Frame, Ray, Male
    1, 64
    Ring, Team, 9

    Now what?

    Step 3
    Frame, Ray, Mail
    1, 64
    Ring, Team, 9

    Now what?

    Step 4
    Frame, Ray, Mail
    1, 64
    Ring, Team, 9

    What's left?

    Am I missing something?

  42. FileDuckiespamwise on Wed Apr 25, 2007 11:16 AM

What you have after Step 4 is exactly what I was going for. You've got all the pieces. Now you just need to answer the question. (Actually, you'll need to answer it a number of times and, possibly, in a few different ways.)

  43. Avatar_profilePeachTheFatIdiot on Wed Apr 25, 2007 05:21 PM

Step 4 is:- What is the letter missing TO the left of the words you got in step 3.

  44. FileOnionhankescu on Sat Aug 27, 2011 01:37 PM

    What the hell is N-64?
