I'm glad to see the Puzzlethon didn't use up all the good puzzles! This one was quite cool.

  3. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Mon Apr 30, 2007 07:05 PM

Fun! I'm glad I got it from working it out and not just guessing because the method was cute.

  4. FileDuckiespamwise on Mon Apr 30, 2007 07:05 PM

    Thanks and thanks.

  5. FileRadishSpire on Mon Apr 30, 2007 07:05 PM

I really liked this one. When the answer sounded out, it confirmed everything nicely.

  9. FileDuckiedavey3 on Mon Apr 30, 2007 07:28 PM

    Very well done!

Too bad this one wasn't in the puzzlethon ... it was actually fun!

    Got it finally.

  12. FileDuckiespamwise on Mon Apr 30, 2007 07:33 PM

42nd?!? Sheesh. It's been quiet out here. Well, it sounds like the first 10 are set, so I'll jump in. Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

I'm getting nowhere fast with this.

  14. FilePotatoDandelion_Wine on Mon Apr 30, 2007 07:49 PM

You were the 63rd Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

salt-free for me and under 100. Whoo hoo!

  15. FileStrawberryclemon79 on Mon Apr 30, 2007 08:46 PM

I know when it's two hours in, and there are 14 comments, that's a puzzle I shouldn't even bother trying.

    too easy or too hard?

  17. Avatar_profileLemonunderpussy on Mon Apr 30, 2007 09:01 PM

Fun puzzle! I sorta figured it out, then guessed the rest. Darned if I can backsolve, but I'll be interested to see the official solution.

    By way of SALT,

The method is all right there. You'll know when you're on the right track.

  18. FileDuckiespamwise on Mon Apr 30, 2007 10:45 PM

How do you sorta figure it out? No, wait, don't answer that. (But seriously... It's not like you jump through hoops to find like the first three letters and then go to an anagram site to get the rest. If you've found the first letter, you've found them all.) But, I repeat, don't answer. This board has been pleasantly saltless for the most part. It's nice for things to be quiet for a change.

very very nice puzzle. Clean method that we haven't seen before. Very pretty indeed. From the sounds made by these comments, I'm not alone in thinking that.

  20. Avatar_profileKiwirgamble522 on Tue May 01, 2007 04:35 AM

I figured out the method in about ten seconds, but colors, people, colors...

  21. FilePearBigRob68 on Tue May 01, 2007 07:05 AM

same here...took me a little extra time to realize that i needed to put the answers vertically after i figured them out.

    fun puzzle, though.

    # It took you 7 minutes and 48 seconds to solve this puzzle.
    # You were the 168th Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

Yeah, I'm not a top ten finisher but it was a fun puzzle. Very smart. Thank you Spamwise.

    # Average solve time: 26 minutes and 35 seconds.

I solved it. Kinda. Still don't see the first letter...

    Clever puzzle, though.

  24. FilePlumNeendy on Tue May 01, 2007 08:46 AM

    Great puzzle! Thank you!

  25. FilePlumsjlee on Tue May 01, 2007 08:55 AM

Very straight-forward puzzle. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to get going, but once I did, it didn't take me very long to come up with the answer. Definitely like puzzles where everything is consistent.

  26. FileStrawberryclemon79 on Tue May 01, 2007 12:16 PM

[16] leadfoot: too hard. I never have a problem with too easy. Too easy doesn't make me feel like a dumbass.

  27. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Tue May 01, 2007 12:59 PM

    [26] clemon79
Then go for it, (unless you're colorblind) because this one was quite refreshing and there was so little blogging about it because most people didn't need any salt (only a couple requests on BGG...)

  28. FileGrapesMutombo on Tue May 01, 2007 02:48 PM

nice puzzle once i figured out i was thinking way too hard.

  29. Avatar_profileRadishrmcelroy on Tue May 01, 2007 04:57 PM

OK, I guessed the answer, based on the layout, but I have no idea of the methodology used to arrive at it.

  30. Avatar_profileOrangeDosRios on Tue May 01, 2007 05:49 PM

    Really cool puzzle, spamwise. Thanks!

  31. FractalEggdduensing on Thu Oct 21, 2010 08:49 PM

ugh....I'm a computer programmer, and this modified "spaghetti" flowchart drove me nuts.

SALT: After you've followed the routes, then use the black box insert for the second step. Then the third step sounds like fun, if you have a good ear for it.

Maybe I should have been an electrical engineer instead.
