[1] Hallelujah! That was fun! Thanks, Philana!
[1] yay!
Had it by the 3rd word. Great job! Thanks!
Nice one. Had no idea what the 4th pic was!
[5] It is actually an adapter, but we understand.
[6] we do? I have the first two words, and the last and still can't connect the dots. maybe I'll walk away and pray for post & solve! :^)
it worked. sleeping beauty pricked her finger on the red thing.
good puzzle; although i happen to love technology...especially since i work in IT... :)
[5] Related story: Playing Time's Up the other day, one of the players after hearing a clue name asked, "Who's Carol Burnett?"
Luckily everyone else playing found this hilarious, otherwise I'd feel even older than I am... and I'm not that old: early 40's.
"A Cultural History of the Punch Card"
I actually operated the IBM 026 & 029 machines in high school (how I miss them-can still 'hear' the sound) while learing programming. and this phrase was burned educationally into our little minds.
[7]that 'thing' fits over the phonograph ... it's called a '45 RPM Insert' and it's actually mis-named in this puzzle, but it shouldn't matter.
[6], [10] You're correct that I've used the wrong name. It's funny, but that's what we always called them, and that's the term I used when I searched for a picture of one for this puzzle.
[9] That's funny. We had the exact same thing happen at our house while playing a different game. The youngest person there (mid-20s) drew Carol Burnett's name out of the hat, and had no idea who she was. So she started describing our neighbor's mother. Hilarity ensued.
[10] Yeah, I didn't even know that was a verb until today.
clever
Lame. Hows anyone gonna get this!? MU??? please
just came across this puzzle...maybe a word missing in there to finish the "full" answer...only if you bend the rules...
Yeah, the fourth pic was called a SPIDER (slang) in the lexicon of the decades in which it was used. Yet I can see how the word Philana wants would be tough to duplicate.... google is your friend if you have the other parts. Nice one!
