Not sure what to do with the list once I pulled it all together... tried a few different things, but not seeing it.

me too...the list is pretty straight-forward...but the next step...it's certainly not pairs.

Got the first step, but the second has me stymied.

[4] Thanks. I was working with combinations of biblical numbers and missed the more obvious possibilities.
Thanks, [4]... that did it. Unfortunately, there's no clue for that in the puzzle, unless you consider what happened to everything that wasn't on the boat.

I think the puzzle was alright. I missed one of the assumptions and ended up with some gratuitous something-er-other.
