Here are the clues in a more legible form:

    ON THE GRID
    1. Annoyingly querulous, fretful; Wet, moist, as an eye.
    2. Single spasm of ecstasy or pain; Savuka frontman Johnny.
    3. Center of violins; Retired craft missed by those in a hurry.
    4. Arabic migration or G. Bear novel; San Fran inst. at 685 Mission St.
    5. Hot new couple; Cable movie pioneer; P.E.I. summer time.
    6. Roll-call response.

    DOWN & OUT
Eur. ctries. of Dub. & Ber.

I hope there's a theme, otherwise this one will be too vague for my tastes.

[2] I either agree with you. Or I'm bitter because I'm not seeing a trend.

I think I see what to do, but I can't answer all the clues properly

  6. FileDuckienrkii on Nov 08, 2008 08:07 PM

Ah, got it... I had several mistakes

A little extra cluing to help with some of the above:

Wet, moist... My Pa didn't go to church, but my ** ***

    Center of violins... violin city

Herder descended from Scotch or Fox Collie... what you might call the Irishman who catches bad guys (also football player with very similar name)

[7], yes, I wanted to use Donovan, but he has too many letters...

[7] Thanks for your salt... the puzzle was doable with that help.

Definitely challenging - had to cash in a few brain cells on this one!!

I'm missing enough words to make the last step impossible so far.

[11] TG me with what you're missing.

This puzzle is for champion-level crossword solvers only, I feel. (No salt, just an observation.) I think only a scant handful of the answer words are at all common parlance, and very tough to find, even with google.
