    Be curious to know how much this phrase was used outside of the southern US (no salt) I just know we use it a good bit around here :)

    always heard it with the present participle.

    [5] I think the phrase has been being used quite heavily across all of the US (and definitely outside of the south) for the last 6 years or so ...
