Huh? I get the Biblical stuff, but FOR KIDS?

  3. Pigeon.poop.payoffApplemdin617 on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:08 AM

    buh... wha?

  4. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:13 AM

[2] That's a quote from the movie The Hudsucker Proxy, and, truth be told, you don't really need it to solve the puzzle.

But it does add some semi-salty flavor. And makes sense... eventually.

  5. Pigeon.poop.payoffApplemdin617 on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:10 AM

[2] I get the references, including that one, and I've still got nothin'.

  6. FileClockmust67 on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:24 AM

At this late(early) hour we might either need easier puzzles or some heavy salt

  7. Avatar_profileStrawberrylilyflan on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:26 AM

Does the 9th one mean anything?

  8. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:28 AM

[6] Figure out what the "biblical references" are, and then ask yourself why they're presented the way they are.

    Oh, and don't overthink it.

  9. FileOnionJohn on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:31 AM

On a marginally related tangent, you may have heard an urban legend concerning Ring 'round the Rosie...

  10. Avatar_profileBananaLeighbra on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:30 AM

ha [8], been trying THAT for 28 minutes lol

    Might be nap time

  11. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:30 AM

    [7] No.

  12. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:32 AM

    [9] Hey, John!

Solvers, I really tried to put the "simpler" puzzles during the late/early hours... but judging that, sometimes, is tricky.

  13. FractalEggdduensing on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:34 AM

Only 8 of the 10 of them are given in this puzzle.... I'm about ready to play Russian Roulette....with my own head!

  14. FileClockmust67 on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:36 AM

Clearly based on time and solves this is not one of the simpler ones!

I have the biblical references but the circles make no sense to me. I know these reference "sickness" but ....

  15. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:39 AM

[13] Which specific ones they are does not matter. How many there are does not matter (well, as long as there's more than one).

  16. FileOnionJohn on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:40 AM

Which are missing isn't significant. You've probably already got a general word in mind that describes these ravages, calamities and contagions...

  17. FractalEggdduensing on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:40 AM

yes...I know. I even see it resembles a weapon. Trying to create a compound word with them escapes me.

  18. Avatar_profileStrawberrylilyflan on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:41 AM

    [12] pls check tg

  19. Ptdkr003cb_700_knocker_93946_255x300Tomatonocca on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:42 AM

running round in circles with this one and getting nowhere

  20. AvatarAppleapuleuis on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:43 AM

    clever!

I just said all the words I could think of out loud until I got the aha.

Maybe this was easier for me because it is 6 pm my time so I am still fully awake :)

  21. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:47 AM

    Hmmm... how about this:

    Row, row, row your Pestilence.
    Boils on your hand.
Hordes of frogs ......................... Row, row, row
A mass of gnats ....................... your Pestilence
Darkness 'cross the land. .......... Boils on your hand...

  22. Th_scarefaceavatar90x90PotatoATGOWTWT on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:49 AM

[21] Thanks. That did it! Now I can go to bed.

  23. FileGarlick1w1 on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:49 AM

    Wow, that was tough.

  24. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:51 AM

[22] Go to bed? But there's a new puzzle in 10 minutes :)

  25. Pigeon.poop.payoffApplemdin617 on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:54 AM

[21] Ok, now I have what must obviously be the answer, and it's not taking it. Here's hoping for a post-n-solve.

    Edit: Works every time. -facepalm-

  26. FileTomatoSuperSlug on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:52 AM

I too am going round in circles here (and not making any progress)

  27. FractalEggdduensing on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:55 AM

[21] Well, the tune is not a CANON! ;-)

  28. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:56 AM

[26] Unintentional self salt. Dangerous for a Slug :)

And to everyone else, don't forget there are more than one of "them."

  29. Avatar_profileBananaLeighbra on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:57 AM

wow, i sort of want to cry now.

  30. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:58 AM

Don't cry. Star Wars is next. Sorta.

  31. Ptdkr003cb_700_knocker_93946_255x300Tomatonocca on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:59 AM

I obviously need to increase my vocabulary - still not getting it.

  32. FileClockJewelia on Sun Jan 18, 2009 02:59 AM

I really did overthink that one!

  33. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun Jan 18, 2009 03:05 AM

[32] Probably the most common reason puzzles trip people up. In all fairness, the puzzles, themselves, often fool you into thinking they're trickier than they are by how they're laid out and stuff.

  34. Avatar_profileStrawberrylilyflan on Sun Jan 18, 2009 03:16 AM

    FINALLY!!!! Very nice!

  35. FileTomatoSuperSlug on Sun Jan 18, 2009 03:16 AM

My round trip is finally finished, yay!

  36. Ptdkr003cb_700_knocker_93946_255x300Tomatonocca on Sun Jan 18, 2009 03:16 AM

Thanks for the salt, and I certainly needed a lot of it this time.
And, yes, I would have been overthinking it.

  37. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun Jan 18, 2009 03:23 AM

    [34][35][36] Yea!

Think of the time spent this way: You were the late night Pioneers for all those future befuddled solvers.

You know, the ones who are sleeping in nice warm beds right now.

  38. Avatar_profilePeachpwag on Sun Jan 18, 2009 03:31 AM
