I had an idea, but it's not "snow" or "white" or anything I can think of related
    to Snow White.

  5. FilePancakeshatemachine on Apr 01, 2009 07:02 PM

LOL, well there's no help in the file name.

[3] Arnott, you're not just a mindreader, but a prognosticator!

    Beautiful!
I nominate this one for Puzzle of the Year.

[13] Yeah, how crazy giddy was I when I saw the first two comments from last night's puzzle:

    http://www.tanga.com/puzzles/4610-3-31-2009

    [14] Wow, thanks.

  16. Avatar_profilePearplitog on Apr 01, 2009 07:14 PM

    April Fools???

  17. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Apr 01, 2009 07:17 PM

[16] Sort of :) But I wouldn't not play fair with you guys.

Darnit, I really thought '' was the answer.

  22. Avatar_959_jpg100_200x200RaspberryRocketeer on Apr 01, 2009 07:25 PM

Hey - my image isn't loading!

No wait - it's not taking 'butter' (must be a punctuation problem).

    [14] I wouldn't go that far!

  23. FilePepperpepperhead on Apr 01, 2009 07:25 PM

I cant see the forest for the trees help!!

  24. FileClockJewelia on Apr 01, 2009 07:26 PM

I wonder why this puzzle was published three minutes late . . . it can't have been that hard to make!

  25. FilePepperpepperhead on Apr 01, 2009 07:27 PM

    [24] LOL

  26. Avatar_profileEggmagraf7 on Apr 01, 2009 07:29 PM

    well....it's not a snowman in a snowstorm

  27. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Apr 01, 2009 07:29 PM

[24] Yes, that gave me 7 reasons to wonder.

  28. BarrerahelmSailboatElGrande on Apr 01, 2009 07:30 PM

I thought "clueless" was a really clever solution, but apparently it just describes me

  29. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Apr 01, 2009 07:32 PM

[28] LOL....that WOULD have been a good answer, but it's not the right one for tonight. The clues are there....just more obscure.

  30. FileSailboatsteve59 on Apr 01, 2009 07:32 PM

    [28] not just you..

  31. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Apr 01, 2009 07:35 PM

Did everyone pay attention to what people were saying about this puzzle???

  32. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Apr 01, 2009 07:37 PM

[24] The image, no. The puzzle itself was trickier than you'd think.

  33. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Apr 01, 2009 07:40 PM

[32] Tricky, indeed. The solution might only be obvious right away to 6 people.

  34. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Apr 01, 2009 07:42 PM

[22] Yeah, I'm pretty sure [14] is going to be a minority opinion :)

  35. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Apr 01, 2009 07:43 PM

I'm lost. I have a feeling this is too abstract a concept for my logical mind.

  36. Phi3CornPhilana on Apr 01, 2009 07:44 PM

    [34] I loved it!

  37. FileCheeseburgerErich on Apr 01, 2009 07:44 PM

[33] pointed me in the right direction.

  38. VaderhardtimesEgggchild469 on Apr 01, 2009 07:44 PM

    [35]

I would have to agree with you Doc. I think I feel the same way.

Only 18 solves after 45 minutes, guess were not the only ones! LOL

  39. FilePancakeshatemachine on Apr 01, 2009 07:46 PM

Salt: See my comment [5] at 7:02? Well, I was on the couch watching a movie at that time and I just logged in at about 7:30.

  40. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Apr 01, 2009 07:47 PM

[18] Hey, I remember that as an old Ernie and Bert bit on Sesame Street!

  41. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Apr 01, 2009 07:49 PM

    Okay, here's the 45-minutes-have-past, I-have-to-leave-for-the-night salt:

I could have said in [7] "Thanks, Gang! I knew I could count on you," but that wouldn't have been exactly right.

Though that would have been a cool puzzle, too.

  42. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Apr 01, 2009 07:52 PM

[39] AH!! Thanks, that did it. [24] should have been a tip-off, but I wasn't paying attention to the details.

You are one sneaky devil, Arnott... I have no idea how you even pulled that off.

[38] Turns out it wasn't that abstract at all... just needed to look in the right place for the clues.

  43. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Apr 01, 2009 07:52 PM

[39] Hee hee. That was the tricky part, [24].

And three minutes late..? I don't know what you're talking about. It says 7:00 at the top.

    ::innocent glance::

  44. Harmonica-beatlesPancakesHarmonica on Apr 01, 2009 07:54 PM

[39] did it for me. Nice puzzle once you get past the confusion. I think "clueless" would've been a great answer too.

  45. FileClockJewelia on Apr 01, 2009 07:57 PM

    [43] Innocent, my eye! ;-)

  46. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Apr 01, 2009 07:58 PM

I'm just glad I could be the first to start this off.

  47. FilePepperslog on Apr 01, 2009 08:00 PM

    Awesome!

However, I think that three minute gap is extremely important, and should be noted in the published time.

  48. FilePepperpepperhead on Apr 01, 2009 08:10 PM

I see what s going on I just cant put it together

Edit..... arggggggg I put it together (sigh) I know better it is always first things first

  49. FileTomatobcgrote on Apr 01, 2009 08:00 PM

Tough but fair! Those 6 really know what they're talking about!

  50. 604Pumpkinlscoltrane77 on Apr 01, 2009 08:03 PM

AHHH, took me awhile, but it was a great post!

  51. Avatar_profileBananaEmilyMoby on Apr 01, 2009 08:04 PM

I'm still completely lost. The time stamps all look normal to me. Any other salt?

  52. 8grg3zbpu691mpv38q2nRaspberryjebediehard on Apr 01, 2009 08:10 PM

    Oooooh... Aaaaah... Ohhhhh!

[51] The time stamps are normal but something doesn't quite add up.

  53. Someguy2Radishcapkincaid on Apr 01, 2009 08:22 PM

    It's a freakin SailBoat.!

  54. FractalTomatodduensing on Apr 01, 2009 09:02 PM

Whatever the answer is, after almost 90 minutes of analyzing, including the first 6 people's posts on this puzzle (which are 3 minutes off), I give up!

I am going away in disgust....count me as one of your april fools.

  55. FileDuckiedavey3 on Apr 01, 2009 08:40 PM

Wow Arnott ... you can't make this stuff up (or maybe you can).

    Nice one!

  56. AvatarDuckiesteph_frolin on Apr 01, 2009 08:49 PM

And here I thought I forgot to sign out of Tanga at work! Sneaky, bad, wicked, naughty, R Knot...

    Do it again.

  57. FileRaspberrydsmeyer on Apr 01, 2009 09:02 PM

    wow. Terrible puzzle.

  58. Picture-303Pumpkingodard on Apr 01, 2009 11:41 PM

Time keeps on slippin slippin slippin

  59. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Apr 02, 2009 12:10 AM

[51][52] Don't get hung up on the time stamps - that was just something I wanted to make look right. But they really don't matter - it's the comments themselves that are the key.

    Content over style.

As for the puzzle, I certainly could have added an extra clue somewhere, to point people more obviously in the right direction, I suppose. I was reluctant to do that this time out of... uh... foolish pride, maybe :) And also because it's April Fools Day. And also because I thought it was fair, regardless of how "hard" it might be.

    Anyway, thanks, all.

    CBG says: Worst. Puzzle. Ever.

You solved this puzzle in 25 minutes and 43 seconds and were the 101st Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this

Ack so close to top 100

  62. FilePepperslog on Apr 02, 2009 06:51 AM

I think it would be pretty funny if we started flagging posts [1]-[6]...

  63. Avatar_profileBananatrevelyan on Apr 02, 2009 07:12 AM

Still dont get it with the posts or time stamps

  64. Avatar_profileBananatrevelyan on Apr 02, 2009 08:43 AM

    Anyone?

  65. 8grg3zbpu691mpv38q2nRaspberryjebediehard on Apr 02, 2009 09:29 AM

[64] on the Tanga HOME page, go to Tanganite Activity (View all) and go back as many pages as you need... Something's not right. That's it for now.

  66. FileSailboatESQuire on Apr 02, 2009 09:46 AM

You solved this puzzle in 13 hours, 32 minutes and 43 seconds and were the 117th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.

[65] I already get the fact that the puzzles solves were at 7:07 and it was posted late. SO??????

  68. FilePancakeshatemachine on Apr 02, 2009 10:06 AM

[67] Look at the first 6 comments. Then take a look at [66]. [65]'s advice is terrible.

  69. Avatar_profilePotatocanyc on Apr 02, 2009 10:32 AM

    cute!

  70. 8grg3zbpu691mpv38q2nRaspberryjebediehard on Apr 02, 2009 11:00 AM

[67] [68] The point is: the first 6 comments were never actually made by the posters listed, as implied by [39].

  71. 9546024128a0d196c63ac010.l_3Bananamagisterludi on Apr 02, 2009 11:32 AM

    Wow. Nonstandard indeed.

And big thanks to [70] and [66].

  72. FilePumpkinDisreputable on Apr 02, 2009 11:45 AM

Yeah, the puzzle/answer isn't in (or has anything to do with) the big, blank, white box.

    Very "Nonstandard", I agree.

I'm not so sure that's fair, as we (or "I")can't do that.

  73. ShoeAppleslightlyslapdash on Apr 02, 2009 12:12 PM

    Thank you [70]!

I'm a tad bit dense today.

  74. FilePumpkinJohn on Apr 02, 2009 12:56 PM

    Identity theft

  75. Avatar-shirtless_noelAppleC0nn3ry on Apr 02, 2009 01:13 PM

not so much fun for someone who doesn't play till the next day and avoids comments until after solving.
    ahh well, points for originality.

  76. FilePumpkinDisreputable on Apr 02, 2009 01:48 PM

    [75] LOL!

I know! I read comments after I'm stumped, and this one left me puzzling forever (and typing the words "nothing" & "blank" over & over & over again) until I started looking at what other people may have said to get some clues/salt! There are probably some stubborn "purists" out there who are never going to get this one!

It usually doesn't take me 4 hrs and 38 mins to solve a puzzle!

  77. Avatar_profileApplesteveha on Apr 02, 2009 03:36 PM

Definitely thinking outside the usual box here.

  78. Avatar_profilePeachgf_ripper on Apr 02, 2009 05:06 PM

    I am lost, I don't get the clues :(.

  79. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Apr 02, 2009 05:07 PM

You could have had a picture that said:

    ICE COLD

    COLD

    WARMER

    WARMER STILL

    GETTING HOT

    HOTTER, KEEP GOING :)

  80. Avatar_profilePeachgf_ripper on Apr 02, 2009 05:11 PM

I feel like I should be getting this lol, but I just can't seem to figure it out.

  81. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Apr 02, 2009 06:56 PM

    [79] Nice!

  82. BarrerahelmSailboatElGrande on Apr 02, 2009 07:23 PM

Please don't ever do that again.

  83. Panda-flyGarlicpandapal on Apr 02, 2009 10:29 PM

Never, ever, ever would have solved this one!

    April Fool, my a$$!!

  84. Avatar_profileApplelynnyj on Apr 02, 2009 10:31 PM

Is it a polar bear in a snow storm?

  85. Przewalskis-horseDuckiecrashbaptiste on Apr 05, 2009 05:54 PM

holy crap, how did you do that?!?!

  86. Untitled-1PumpkinAdamMcD on Mar 31, 2012 06:09 PM

I'm a little surprised no one brought up this point: wasn't this a potentially a little "unfair" (maybe there's a better word?) in the sense that a certain six tanganites had (potentially) a slight advantage?

  87. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Apr 01, 2012 12:19 AM

[86] I'd actually asked them in advance if I could use them in a puzzle, though I didn't tell them how I was gonna use them. So whatever "advantage" they might have had was the "price" for me to "pay" them, IMO, for the privileged of being able to write this thing in the first place.

And I suspect most people saw that. Actually, LOL, I suspect almost no one cared, especially back in 2009 when we were all cooler :) Yeah, the good old days, that's it... everything's crappy now :)
