    First 1st

Since I usually don't look at the puzzles until the next day, probably my last as well.

  2. TangaPotatoTopherMarsh on Apr 01, 2008 07:47 AM

  3. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Apr 01, 2008 07:48 AM

Got everything but what's in the diamond shape...

  4. TangaPotatoTopherMarsh on Apr 01, 2008 07:52 AM

i didnt think anything? but that would make sense why im getting gibberish...

  5. TangaPotatoTopherMarsh on Apr 01, 2008 07:57 AM

ugh i cant figure out the spiral....

  6. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Apr 01, 2008 07:59 AM

[5] Try using a 6x6 grid in excel to create it - follow the background pattern.

  7. TangaPotatoTopherMarsh on Apr 01, 2008 08:00 AM

ahh the background .. was doing it backwards the whole time cause thats how i always do it

    thanks [6]!

  8. FilePeppercyncat on Apr 01, 2008 09:54 AM

[3] You're very close. You don't have to look inside the diamond.

    Edit: original salt was misleading.

  9. FileEggRPardoe on Apr 01, 2008 08:12 AM

Nice one. Initially had a similar (but incorrect) word for the first. Managed to solve it without the second.

  10. FilePeppercyncat on Apr 01, 2008 09:55 AM

    Edit: What [11] said. :)

  11. FileEggRPardoe on Apr 01, 2008 08:24 AM

    [3]Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

  12. Avatar_profileBananatrevelyan on Apr 01, 2008 08:31 AM

Where does the puzzle start? Top left or center?

  13. TangaPotatoTopherMarsh on Apr 01, 2008 08:36 AM

ok i've tried about every iteration of that sprial as humanly possible...

[8]is the diamond a "mathematical" term that would fit a diamond and square but not rectangle?

  14. FileGarlicspamwise on Apr 01, 2008 08:39 AM

I'm perplexed by the numbers on the pictures.
    I've named the shapes:
    O.R.P.T.H.
I've tried naming the shapes with an "increased size":
    N.P.H.R.H.
I've tried sorting by "increasing size":
    T.R.P.H.O.

I'm pretty sure I've "straightened out" the 36 digits below, but I can't get a string of 36 characters from the shapes (and there are still those pesky numbers.)

TBTOHNMMM is my most recent venture... this is putting my head in circles.. literally

  16. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Apr 01, 2008 08:46 AM

[14] I think the numbers on the pictures is the # of letters in the word. But the diamond one is throwing me off.

  17. FileRaspberrydsmeyer on Apr 01, 2008 08:59 AM

[16] lol you answered your own question.

  18. FilePeppercyncat on Apr 01, 2008 09:00 AM

    [12] Top left.
    [16] You're right.

Don't look inside the diamond. See [11].

  19. FileRaspberrydsmeyer on Apr 01, 2008 09:01 AM

[14] what do those pesky numbers add up to?

  20. FilePeppercyncat on Apr 01, 2008 09:12 AM

Sometimes the shape in the image is the clue. Sometimes, the name of the shape in the image is the clue. Sometimes, the clue is the answer.

  21. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Apr 01, 2008 09:26 AM

Oh, finally!!! If I'd just realized that the number of sides referred to a single unit....

  22. TangaPotatoTopherMarsh on Apr 01, 2008 09:28 AM

    MSAMOAOOR?

  23. FileGarlicspamwise on Apr 01, 2008 09:30 AM

    I get 5 = B, not O
but that's still not doing it for me.

  24. Bunny91Garlicheatherlouwho on Apr 01, 2008 09:46 AM

    [22] I get MSAMBAOOM

    Or OHUPPSEOO

  25. FilePeppercyncat on Apr 01, 2008 09:44 AM

[22][23][24] Maybe your orders are reversed? Start at the top left with the answer to the triangle clue.

  26. Bunny91Garlicheatherlouwho on Apr 01, 2008 09:48 AM

Is the 4,5 answer split up, or kept together in the ordering?

  27. TangaPotatoTopherMarsh on Apr 01, 2008 09:49 AM

[25] Thank you!!!! finally got it!
You solved this puzzle in 2 hours, 12 minutes and 37 seconds

  28. TangaPotatoTopherMarsh on Apr 01, 2008 09:51 AM

    [26] kept together
[23] the b is wrong i know where you got that from. its not that, its the more obvious answer.

  29. Bunny91Garlicheatherlouwho on Apr 01, 2008 09:50 AM

    [25] That gives me OBERHEUCE

  30. FilePeppercyncat on Apr 01, 2008 09:52 AM

[29] The answer to the 4-sided polygon clue is not "rhombus".

  31. Bunny91Garlicheatherlouwho on Apr 01, 2008 10:06 AM

[30] I had only seen your original salt about it not being a diamond. So, that was wrong. Sigh.

    Finally got it.

  32. FileGarlicspamwise on Apr 01, 2008 10:06 AM

[all] Thanks for all the hand holding. I had most of the right parts, it was just a matter of sorting things out.

  33. FileGarlicspamwise on Apr 01, 2008 10:07 AM

Drat. My finger spasmed on the "Post" button. This double post wasn't a product of impatience, just lack of muscle control. :) (no salt. it's just a double post.)

  34. FilePeppercyncat on Apr 01, 2008 10:41 AM

    [31] Sorry.

  35. FilePepperdajagr on Apr 01, 2008 11:00 AM

It occurs to me that instead of spiraling the letters, it might have been easier to just unspiral the numbers. :)

  36. Your_eyes_can_deceive_youPotatojjrobe on Apr 01, 2008 01:30 PM

I think I have the correct words, but the spiral is not working for me

  37. FileSailboatRunAmuck on Apr 01, 2008 01:54 PM

I cant get the spiral to work either.

  38. FilePeppercyncat on Apr 01, 2008 02:43 PM

[36] [37] The answer to the octagon clue should be the innermost part of the spiral.

  39. FileSailboatRunAmuck on Apr 02, 2008 07:43 AM

[38] Thank you - that and hint #2 did it for me.

  40. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Apr 02, 2008 03:45 PM

For the 5th picture I was trying to use the little guys instead of the structure behind them. Same number of letters, but wrongo! :)
