Fun one... Be aware of the American spelling...
Nice one Scout
I don't know if it's a mistake or if it's considered to be irrelevant for solving the puzzle, but I'd expect to see a full house in the picture of the cards.
Then again, I wouldn't expect all the cards to be hearts, either.
Wow! That was fun! Great puzzle!
[3] No, you wouldn't see a full house, that's not what the hand was. As for the hearts, that was the best graphics I could find. Changed the numbers, but don't have the skill to change the suits.
Very nice!
Solved all but the playing cards, but didn't need it to get the answer. (Never heard of the phrase, either when I saw the solution.)
Nice one.
Nice puzzle scoutmom
Thanks, everyone!
[3] [5] Maybe THAT'S WHY it's the D M H (i.e. two sets of identical cards) ;-)
Enjoyable :)
Nice puzzle, Scoutmom!
[5] that's not what the hand was either. I believe deadwood has it as black aces and eights with a nine of diamonds kicker. And I believe the name dead man's hand was originally for a full house.
The hand was 2 pair - 8s and aces. And there is nothing anywhere definitive as to the suits.

I didn't get two of them;"2 E in a DMH" or "10 F in B". But I got enough to get the answer.
Fun.
I enjoyed this puzzle! I had trouble with a couple of them but managed to figure them out eventually.
[15] Both of those were represented by pictures in the puzzle.
Nice one!
I figure it's important when doing a puzzle like this so that even if you can't solve every answer, you can solve enough to figure it out. Glad it worked out.
