Yay! 8th! I must be on a roll tonight. :D

    Nice little puzzle.

  2. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:13 PM

    huh?

  3. FileGarlicHope2002 on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:16 PM

I'm with [2] so far. The only one I can't get.

Edit: Once again posting makes it clear

  4. FileEggMurdoctor on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:20 PM

[3] Same here. For some reason, I've had more trouble with the "easy" puzzles than the "hard" ones the past few days.

I can identify the flags, but the fact that the number of words of each color and number of stripes of each color don't match up is throwing me.

EDIT: NM... figured it out. I think if the top or bottom word were in white, or if the words were of a different length, it would have clicked faster for me. I also probably would have added one more letter to the answer word to make it all match up nicely.

  5. FileGarlicHope2002 on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:19 PM

No flag knowledge necessary. That threw me. My son is always having to identify flags for school.

  6. Bunny91Garlicheatherlouwho on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:22 PM

Cool solve method! Took awhile to figure out!

  7. FilePumpkinperihelion on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:25 PM

My dork field is on again - my solve choices are going nowhere. Help?

  8. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:25 PM

Hmmm, that was pretty straight forward; I wish I would have looked at this one sooner. I thought since no one was getting it that it was way out there, but I guess not. Nice one!

  9. FilePumpkinarcbat on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:32 PM

People seem to figure it out when they post. (See [3] and [4])

So, I'm posting to see if that helps....

    Edit: Yep. Apparently it did.

  10. FileOnionJohn on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:27 PM

It really burns me up when all someone says is how easy that was. Start sprinkling, baby...

  11. BarrerahelmSailboatElGrande on Fri Mar 14, 2008 06:24 AM

[9]LOL. Ok, we'll see if that works...

EDIT: It didn't work. Boy do I feel stupid.

  12. FileEggplantTintin on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:31 PM

[10]There's tanga numbers in the puzzle - you just need to be on the puzzlemaker's wavelength to see them.

  13. FileXylophoneQurqirishDragon on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:32 PM

    Got it!

salt for those who are probably stuck where I was: don't think in absolute positions, think more relative.

  14. FileOnionJohn on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:36 PM

My answer anagrams to Darn Satan. I'm done now

  15. Avatar_profileAppledcortino on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:36 PM

    still no clue, any salt?

  16. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:37 PM

    Ahh--thanks, [13]. There we go.

  17. FilePumpkinperihelion on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:38 PM

Tried what I see as "relative", which gets gibberish.

  18. FilePumpkinarcbat on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:48 PM

Shorter words would make it easier, but 1,2, or 4 letter words would break it.

  19. FilePumpkinperihelion on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:49 PM

Any help, please? This is making me crazy.

  20. FileOnionJohn on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:53 PM

Phrases that don't appear to be remotely close:

    tad asn ran
    tup asr rur
    tqb ydn oln

And I still have no idea why there are two yellow words

  21. FileDuckienrkii on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:57 PM

I stumbled on this one at first by trying to apply letters to the flags. It was the two yellow words that helped me figure out that was the wrong way to start.

  22. FileOnionJohn on Wed Mar 12, 2008 07:59 PM

    Aha... at last. Thanks nrkii

  23. FileDuckienrkii on Wed Mar 12, 2008 08:00 PM

no problem, I owed you one! :)

  24. FileDuckiedavey3 on Wed Mar 12, 2008 08:11 PM

[12] - took me over an hour to get onto that wavelength.

  25. FilePumpkinperihelion on Wed Mar 12, 2008 08:24 PM

Can I just start cussing a blue streak now? Finally got it.

  26. FilePlumseasidebruin on Wed Mar 12, 2008 08:40 PM

    [11] same here :) ...

  27. FileApplewmshub on Wed Mar 12, 2008 08:49 PM

Wow...I got a few scattered letters, guessed at the word, it was right!

Now to backsolve, clearly I got really lucky.

Edit: OK, I see the pattern now. Yeah, the word lengths makes this a lot trickier than it has to be!

  28. FileLemonpyrusmalus on Wed Mar 12, 2008 11:55 PM

it finally made sense when i stopped relating everything to everything else!

  29. FileAppleSunnydale on Thu Mar 13, 2008 05:22 AM

    I liked this one. Thanks

  30. Cuicocha2Sailboathokie98 on Thu Mar 13, 2008 06:18 AM

Thanks [13] Hubby and I were racking our brains over this one last night... clicked this morning!!

  31. Avatar_profileRocketrelkind on Thu Mar 13, 2008 12:05 PM

    nice

  32. FileAppledlandon2000 on Thu Mar 13, 2008 01:09 PM

I'm posting so the answer should pop into my head any second now. :)

  33. FileAppledlandon2000 on Thu Mar 13, 2008 01:19 PM

    Hmm didn't work...

    More salt please?

  34. FilePeppercyncat on Thu Mar 13, 2008 01:28 PM

[33] lol. Colors will help you decide which letters to pick.

Please tell me if this is too salty.

  35. FileEggMurdoctor on Thu Mar 13, 2008 02:00 PM

[33] Rather than thinking of the flag colors as 1, 2, 3... think of them as leftmost, middle, and rightmost.

  36. Dave5Grapessaintomer on Thu Mar 13, 2008 02:51 PM

After considering all of the above advice for 40 minutes and trying everything I can think of, I believe the correct answer is 'igiveup'. I hope this isn't too salty. ;)

  37. FileAppledlandon2000 on Thu Mar 13, 2008 03:18 PM

[35] ah finally. Thanks that was salterific.

now all the other salt makes sense!

  38. FileDuckieescKey on Thu Mar 13, 2008 04:22 PM

[35] Hold my hand through it, why don't you :-)

    Thanks. I seriously needed it.

    anyone got more salt

  42. MickeyKiwisholmste on Fri Mar 14, 2008 08:17 AM

[41] For those still trying to solve, you must work on the words in the order of the words listed, not in the order of the flags at the top.

  43. FileEggj15bell on Sun Dec 14, 2008 03:18 PM

started to do this bass ackwards. placing the bottom into the top. geeze louise! came up with what I thought was a middle eastern name much less wth do I do with that other word.
