[16] I think this will cause problems for more than just Canadians. In fact, pretty much every english speaking country except America will struggle.

apparently I am not as bright as I thought I was after a few cocktails and failed miserably at this last night and today took little time.....Thanks
[16][17] I considered omitting "Z" from that set for that very reason, but then it would have been ambiguous for the primarily-American audience.
[14] helped me discover the theme, and I solved it with the clue in the title. Good puzzle!
