I tried the traditional crypto method and got "bare spot"; but I like this solution; fun one!!

Somehow I just don't get it.

A larger view of the crypto helped. A lot of that is misleading, though.

*Groan* - and part of my problem was that I couldn't get away from my first thought, which was "Bare Behind". As in, the bear trailing behind the little boy in the wagon. And I saw the red "X" on the dog, so I knew he wasn't part of the solution. Oh, well!
