How to Play
Cryptopix puzzles are word puzzles where the answer is a multi-word phrase. Decipher the image below to come up with the answer. For a better idea on how to solve this puzzle view an example. If you get stuck you can ask for help in the comments section. Hints are posted 24 hours after puzzle's publish date (if provided by author).

This puzzle is animated. Click https://secure.tanga.com/photos/421369/original to see it.
Hey, Gang, just for our information...
Even if you say nothing else here, would you please give us a quick post on whether this worked for you without having to use one of the links in [1].
Thanks.
I didn't see any animation in the link.
No animation for me in the base puzzle
It worked. "You solved this puzzle in 59 seconds and were the 1st Tanga member to solve it. You earned 110 points for solving this."
click on the link for the animation
link worked....darn its hard
Doesn't work unless I follow the link. Using IE.
And I don't get the puzzle either.
Animation worked for me at the URL posted in [1] but not on the base page.
I see the animation now, but haven't solved it yet. Dang!
worked for me on the link
You solved this puzzle in 1 minute and 38 seconds and were the 2nd Tanga member to solve it. You earned 109 points for solving this.
it did not. please never do this again.
didn't work for me
did not animate. used firefox 3.6 in windows vista. had to click the link to see it move.
not a fan of this kind of puzzle. pictures go by too fast...need time to look an analyze each one instead of staring and waiting for it to loop over and over again.
I would suggest forward/back buttons, but I"m still not a fan of the puzzle.
finally solved it. got 91st. took 6 google attempts
Didn't work in Safari 4 / Mac OSX 10.6. Did work in Firefox on Mac using the link in [1]
Nope, not for me and I am using FF
Had to follow the link
Didn't work and I don't get it.
fail
Did not work here, did on the link.
worked for me
Works fine can't figure it out
No animation here.
Didn't work without using link. Never heard of the answer, but some google-fu got it done.
no anim here, ok on other page (using google chrome)
The puzzle definately has a solution.... scouts honor!
Not sure why you decided to demo this as a featured puzzle. Doesn't work in IE, Safari, or FF for me.
Maybe next time demo/beta your stuff before it goes live?
Did not work using Chrome. Had to click link
Worked using the link, but not on the Tanga page. However, following the link produced some parts of the animation that went by too quickly to even see clearly and other parts that stayed on screen a long time.
I had to use the link (using Firefox)
link worked in FF, IE, and Opera for me. never heard of this guy..............ever.
I had to use the link as well, Win 7, Firefox, with NoScript and Adaware installed, but full permission given to Tanga....
... and I've never heard this one before (that, along with animation fail, equals not much fun).
Way to fail tonight. :(
I had to use the link in [1] in both Firefox and IE.
The animation was too fast in one parts and too slow for all the rest of it. Very frustrating!
Plus, I'd never heard of it. It gets very few Google hits, so it's not what you'd call popular or common knowledge.
No animation on the front puzzle page, using Firefox v3.6. The link worked and was animated.
Finally googled the parts I understood. Also never heard of this guy before. There's always tomorrow.
The answer is not inigo montoya, that alone is a fail.
Never heard of it, but fun all the same.
Extremely stupid.
Would not have had a clue without [1]
link in a different page worked on firefox....no clue as to answer...between this and the OWW tonight, I give up....
[38] LOL! As for me, took too long to start working after I got to the link. Before that, it took me awhile guessing before I even scrolled down to see that there was a link:(
not too good. also, part of the point of the song, IMO, is that it's not spelled the same as it sounds. good old making-fun-of-immigrants :/
zero points for this one.
No animation here with Safari or Firefox. The link worked, but took time loading.
Initial puzzle wasn't animated. I typically don't look at the comments unless I'm stuck, so I didn't realize at first that there was a link to follow to make the puzzle work. With a looping animation, I wasn't sure at first which frame was supposed to be the first one. Too annoying to bother with.
I just Googled the title and the first "line" and it was the very first hit.
Did not work for me (vista) tried IE(8), Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Safari.... I had to use CW's link
nothing.
No go on the Droid
dont get it
no go on Chrome (Vista)
win xp chrome needed link.
It really wasn't thaaat hard-- just google what you see 'my name is', the state shown, and where they work. The animation didn't work with just this page, but with firefox even the link was fine.
Thank you CWarrior for the effort, for shaking it up, and for teaching me something new! :D
Arnott ... any feedback?
No animation, using Google Chrome on Windows XP.
I use google chrome on Vista. It didn't work in the base or in the link. I had to dust off IE. It worked in IE in the link, but not in the base. I didn't re-log into my account when I used IE...but I don't think that should have affected it...
It went too fast for me to get the clue with four pictures on it. Thanks to [47] I googled one of the "lines" and found it. For the longest time I was convinced it should be Slim Shady. I've never heard of the actual answer...
While I can appreciate CWarrior trying something different,
this puzzle was just a hassle and not really fun or difficult (just had to google a couple lines). No disrespect to the creator because I'm sure this took a lot of effort and it was unique, but I hope this is the first and last puzzle like this on Tanga.
[38] LOL
[55] LOL The word "brickbats" comes to mind. Thank goodness we didn't also implement the new Shock-A-User feature this week.
I guess this is the last of these, then.
Animated using Google Chrome but it took a about 30 seconds. When it did animate, it went too fast.
vonnegut for the win on this rhyme if you've read his books.
Animation went way too fast except for the first cell.
Nope, didn't work...
I thought the answer was Bruce Lee from the stick figures (the animated thing), but I've no idea of this things origins.
Chrome on Win7, no animation on the main puzzle page, had to use the link in [1]
I appreciate the "nice try ... something different, but not for me ... etc." I feel your pain.
For the record, the site strips animation when it is submitted, in spite of the fact that the puzzles are (or at least once was) billed as "multimedia" affairs. So nobody can see it from this page because it simply isn't in the file. You have to use the link in [1] because the "file upload" feature of this site does not strip animation. I guess it's a security feature ...
[61] Thanks for the catching the Vonnegut reference. I thought there'd be more of that.
link animated but not the puzzle pic. The animation was too fast to see it 'digestively'. It was hard to see the beginning. Need to be able to start at the beginning and stop and start at will.
Windows XPsp3 - IE8
I can only keep thinking My Name is Earl, anyway.
I had to go Hither and YON to find this answer; not being from the Mid-West I wouldn't know or ever have heard of this Johnson Joke.
The animation CONCEPT is OK, but there needas to be START-STOP-CONTINUE buttons to make it actually work at a slower speed.
Obscure. But with a little google-fu, easy enough.
Had to use the link. Really hated the pictures flipping by. I like to stare at things and think. Don't know what the answer is and really don't care. And Cryptopixes are my favorites.
Had to use the link as well (Firefox 3.6 on Win XP). I enjoyed the change, but agree with another commenter that there needed to be a way to flip through the images instead of having it timed like it was...it went WAYYYY too fast... Thanks for at least trying something new, though!
Animation works just fine however it is not helping me solve the puzzle. It moves far too quickly, I don't have time to figure out what all of the images are. Also I have no clue what the answer might be,
Huh. Did quite a bit of summer camping and I have NEVER heard of this. My husband was a Boy Scout and has also never heard of this.
Sorry, warrior, I have to agree with those who found this a hassle and not that much fun. And I, too, have never heard of this.
I had to use the link in [1]. I didn't see anything without it.
The link animation was definitely too fast and I had to watch it 5 or more times, But I am still not sure that I saw it.
Got the answer with google as suggest in [54]
Never heard of it.
No animation for the puzzle without the link, and I can't even get anything with Google.
But at least we're hearing from a lot users who don't normally post :)
Animation worked only in link. I knew a different variant. Spelling turned out to be sensitive (phonetic instead of actual name) -- difficult for a puzzle that relies on an oral traditon.
I had to use the link, and could not have solved the puzzle if my Grandparents hadn't sung it frequently. I've never head it from any other source
[2] Had to use the link. then it worked in Firefox.
[1] Had to use the link, had to use google, and I'm from the midwest, was a boy scout, and camped my whole life...and I've never heard of the song
I had to use the link. I wasn't a fan of the animation. Like someone said up above, it went too fast. I'd prefer to skip animations unless there was some way to click through each individual pane, but then you might as well just do the puzzle as a four panel puzzle.
Had to use the link for animation, and one google to solve. Work uses IE6, shh, the puzzles get my brain moving in the morning.
I got this immediately but knew it with different first initials. It made me sad because my cousin always sang it when we were kids and he died tragically last year. I'll have the song in my head all day now.

I'm still partial to one of my animated puzzles from the past:
http://www.tanga.com/puzzles/3974-10-28-2008
;-)
But it got similar feedback - like having to watch it numerous times to find the pattern, then to solve.
And I was just getting ready to make a new (11 frame) animated one with lights shining on letters ... I think I'll scrap it for fear of being burned at the stake!

This is the worst one I have ever seen!
I needed the link as well to get the animation (IE 6).
I didn't think this was any worse than other obscure answers/sayings that are not well known. I like having 5 second solve times as much as the next person, but it's ok with me if some cryptopix are more challenging.
I can't say it's my favorite puzzle, but I'm all for authors changing things up and trying different things!
I am not quite sure what to make of all the feedback. I too did not get the animation until I clicked the link. If that was intentional the link should probably have been in the puzzle frame itself so people knew that they are supposed to click a link. I can't imagine why the link did not work in so many peoples browsers, it worked fine in Firefox 3 for me. Maybe some setting needs to be enabled, I am not sure.
Apart from that the reference was obscure and I had not heard of that before but that is no disqualification since that is true of lots of puzzles. The key is that I could find it pretty easily with some googling - much less googling than I have used for other puzzles I was not familiar with.
Puzzlemakers - please don't cater to the lowest common denominator as this takes away from the point of it being a puzzle in the first place. The key is that there should be a reasonable path to finding the solution. I am an immigrant, relatively familiar obscure parts of american culture and I could google the answer. That should mean that that it should fall at least somewhere in the solvable range.
Plus I enjoy learning new snippets of information from puzzles that I was completely unfamiliar with the background of. I would probably loose interest if every single puzzle fell smack into the middle of my knowledge base.
FWIW, those are my thoughts.
Had to click the link using FF. Didn't think it was a bad puzzle (even though I wasn't familiar with the answer, once the animation worked it was easy enough to search). I've seen *far* worse in recent OWWs!
had to click on the link but it worked fine. I'm using IE7.
As I see it, there are a few things going on:
-Totally different type of puzzle media
-The use of a link to access the puzzle (done before, but not recently)
-Animation too fast, for some
-Obscure answer, for some
One thing that was not mentioned, I find, is whether or not this qualifies as a Cryptopix. To me, it seemed more like a TWO (two-word wonder) with animation.
Having said that, Kudos to CWarrior for his attempt at "pushing the envelope" (hmmm... I could see that as an animated cryptopix)
It took me 1 second after seeing the second screen of the animation to know the answer, but 6 minutes to guess the spelling.
WOW, finally got it but i've never heard of it either. Basically googled with hints from the puzzle and comments until finally after 15 mins and adding word after word i narrowed it down. Puzzle didn't load except with the link and i agree i had to watch it like 11 or 12 times to get the 3rd frame where he worked. it goes by to fast. need forward and backward buttons.
Animation didn't work for me using Firefox v. 3.5.7
Being a FIB this was easy for me once I saw the animation.
No animation in Chrome 4.0.266.0
Never heard of this rhyme either, but the animation was clear enough to do a search and get the answer.
SLIM SHADY!
Animation in puzzle didn't work.
Animation in link did work.
Brain not working.
No animation on the main puzzle page, had to use the link in [1].
[97] LOL ... that was my first guess too before I clicked on the link.
Needed the link for the animation. And I totally agree with [54]. Just google a few things together and you've got it!
