I had it immediately but YOU spelled it wrong. Bahhhh
spelling it wrong makes it impossible to solve

Damned spelling tripped me up! Argh!
[3] jayvil spelled it correctly, according to the online source I checked. Just because THEY chose an oddball spelling ..... <g>
Jayvil good puzzle. I WILL have to come adjust your keyboard with a sledgehammer, but a good puzzle anyway!
Whew!
Dozens of combinations not quite right.
I think the site is kicking out the answer even if you have it correct.
Frak it. The answer is obvious, but I've tried every spelling permutation I'm willing to try.
[5] I'll 2nd that
Somebody who's got it should give a hint or two on what spelling it's gonna take to get it.
This is the kind of ambiguity that frustrates a lot of folks ...
The 2nd word is the one I had to permutate. I ended up googling my answer, looking down at the links and finding the one permutation I hadn't tried
Spell it the way it should be spelled in regular English. Nevermind any convoluted spellings.
[9] From wiki: XXXX was the first single from Genesis' 1983 self-titled album
Finally ... that's unfortunate that the mods didn't catch the potential for so many spelling alternatives. When a long phrase is used as the answer, we need a little extra cluing to get the exact answer.
It's not fun knowing the answer but not getting it to take. That's twenty minutes of my life that I'll never get back.
I finally found the original quote by the original author and Jayvil accidently spelled it correctly. LOL
Dang spelling.

There's nothing wrong with the spelling in the puzzle... every version spells it this way.
[13] CW, I hear you, but in this case this isn't so much a long phrase that might be subject to regionalisms or generational differences et al, this is a direct quote from a song lyric that is exactly correct. And not, to my knowledge, known by any other spelling.
I know because I checked it before I featured it. And Doc, who was the Mod for this, probably did, too, when he nominated it.
If people weren't previously familiar with this lyric, then they could do what they already do with other much weirder phrases and lines and quotes that are Cryptopix answers here: look it up on the web.
And listen, I hate the idea of it taking you 20 minutes to "solve" a puzzle that you likely solved right away... but those 20 minutes were also your choice, and not, I think, the fault of the puzzle which, IMO, clues an unambigous answer rather whimsically.
But... I totally get that the fun was killed for you. And I wish that hadn't happened.
ummmm......why does an apostrophe in the first, then the OMISSION of an apostrophe in the 2nd, make the answer correct? that was the only one that worked for me, i am confused now.
Wow! Glad I wasn't able to make it last night with all the love in the air :) As Arnott did - I verified the spelling in several places to make sure I had it the way the author intended. Here I am thinking I had a good one with at least somewhat cute clues - and it turns out spelling ruined this for some folks. Sorry about that. I still don't see what permutations could have caused such consternation (beyond a few tries), but I guess that's because I knew the answer.
[20] Apostrophe placement isn't the problem, because they are not needed in the typed answer.
For what it's worth, I got the puzzle on the third try, because I inadvertently left out one letter of a different word, them corrected the spelling on the "questionable" word.
I got it on second try with spelling. Just had to remove one M. But then I'm old and was a big fan of the original song.
Yo Momma! Oh wait, wrong spelling...
I liked it!
Thanks! Solved it by googling what I thought represented the first and last pics.
[21] Great Puzzle! I don't know which spelling would be an issue. I had to google a few - not a Burl Ives fan, and more familiar with author than actor for Gulliver's Travels...and,

Why do I remember this song using the word "can't" instead of this. Still got it on the first try, but yeah.
Now I have that song running through my head!: )
not a good one at all
Spelling wasn't an issue for me at all. I've always spelled the second word that way. Maybe because I'm Australian?
Got it on the second try!! Nice puzzle!
