  3. FileTomatobcgrote on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:08 PM

wow... matching the dots and anagramming gave me "shelve tour".... red dots = red herring?

  4. Avatar_profilePlummagmike on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:10 PM

Nice, Murdoctor.glad I know my music....

  5. Avatar_profileBananacapetrus1 on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:10 PM

[3], I feel your pain. I was wondering thinking I had a weird French expression when saying out the items before anagramming!

  6. Avatar_profilePumpkinwilliamdock on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:12 PM

Answer should not state this was original version. It was the most successful. Original was before this.

  7. Bp3Raspberryendel3 on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:14 PM

[3],[5], or "trueloves"....still no joy however....????

  8. FilePancakestempus42 on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:16 PM

nice - I love all these songs

  9. FileBananacheyennebay on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:19 PM

[3] i got the same letters, but different words...with a letter left over....

  10. Bp3Raspberryendel3 on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:23 PM

[9] and did you have it right?

  11. Img_0189Egggst on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:24 PM

    [3], you were double-crossed...

  12. Ted_doggPancakesdmlafrance on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:25 PM

    [3] not necessarily.

  13. Avatar_profilePeachyellowrosetx61 on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:31 PM

    good one.....

  14. FileBananacheyennebay on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:35 PM

    to the veteran....yes.....keep re-arranging the letters...for words

  15. Avatar_profileStrawberrynyospe on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:37 PM

Damn... 99th. I started out on the right path, and got distracted by cyphers. Whoops.

  16. Bp3Raspberryendel3 on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:52 PM

[15], Damn, worse than 99th and still no clue...oh well...

  17. Avatar_profileBananacapetrus1 on Thu Mar 04, 2010 07:56 PM

[16], I feel your pain. Still clueless....

  18. FractalEggdduensing on Thu Mar 04, 2010 08:08 PM

no clue here either, despite knowing all of the songs/artists right off the bat, and doing the gratuitous anagagramming step.

closest I could get was "The Velours", but their one word song isn't the answer. sigh.

  19. 8grg3zbpu691mpv38q2nPancakesjebediehard on Thu Mar 04, 2010 08:18 PM

    Ouch... 111th!

  20. Avatar_profileGrapesmorbis on Thu Mar 04, 2010 08:18 PM

Anagramming will get you the answer, but it's definitely not necessary. The solution is much simpler to obtain than that.

  21. FractalEggdduensing on Thu Mar 04, 2010 08:27 PM

[20] I see what you mean now.

Had a duplicate vowel that was crossed out twice, so I assumed we needed it twice. Therefore the anagramming didn't work so well.

  22. BlowieAppleloungehead on Thu Mar 04, 2010 09:09 PM

    Photoshop was my friend...

  23. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Thu Mar 04, 2010 09:13 PM

Huh? Anagraming? Folks, there's no anagraming here. Just connect the dots and read.

  24. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Thu Mar 04, 2010 09:16 PM

Hey, cool! Because the penultimate step here involves two words that share no letters, Doc was actually able to have his letter lists be all 26, represented once.

    Neat.

  25. 250px-lobster_nsrwRocketmeshneiarin on Thu Mar 04, 2010 10:28 PM

    Interesting.

  26. Picture-303Pumpkingodard on Fri Mar 05, 2010 03:10 AM

I'm gonna create a one-hit wonder supergroup called The Tangas and write the song "Solve Thru".

  27. Dscf1890Bananaigmkor66 on Fri Mar 05, 2010 03:52 AM

That was a fun puzzle. My only problem was the internet suddenly not working for hours after I got the answer!!!! argh!!!

  28. Bp3Raspberryendel3 on Fri Mar 05, 2010 04:16 AM

[26] and if i ever figure it out, my OHW will be "Overt Lush", although right now I feel like "Hurl Stove"....

edit "You solved this puzzle in 9 hours, 12 minutes and 46 seconds and were the 157th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this"

    Not my favorite Murdoctor Puzzle....

  29. FilePumpkinsuigeneris on Fri Mar 05, 2010 05:22 AM

Really helps to actually print the picture and physically make the connections.

  30. FileBanananurdremes on Fri Mar 05, 2010 06:20 AM

    Very nice, Murdoctor.

If only I could draw a straight line. One of my favorites to this day & I didn't even know it for almost an hour.

  31. Img_2628Grapesmconolly on Fri Mar 05, 2010 06:44 AM

That was a fun one! So much easier when I copied the picture into Photoshop to create the connections!

  32. Avatar_profileGrapeshokiecat on Fri Mar 05, 2010 06:53 AM

Not trying to offend anyone who couldn't get it but what is with the high difficulty rating? This was one of the more straightforward puzzles as pointed out by [23] and [24].

  33. ProtoconSailboatholdenbj on Fri Mar 05, 2010 07:55 AM

Eyeballing the crosses was a disaster for me, but Microsoft Paint saved me from having to print it.

  34. Avatar_profileBananaDJKuulA on Fri Mar 05, 2010 08:01 AM

Tip: Do NOT try to anagram the answer -- it doesn't work. Just print out the puzzle (or use Paint).

  35. Avatar_profileBananacapetrus1 on Fri Mar 05, 2010 08:49 AM

You solved this puzzle in 13 hours, 46 minutes and 40 seconds and were the 202nd Tanga member to solve it.

*I finally used Paint instead of a piece of paper and my computer screen; thanks to all who recommended it!

[23] Ah, just the hint I needed. Thanks!

  38. Avatar_profileOrangeconsolecowboy on Fri Mar 05, 2010 09:15 AM

    Google is my friend.

  39. Tanga_profile_photoRaspberryWhiteKnight85 on Fri Mar 05, 2010 09:30 AM

[24] Very cool observation. Thanks for pointing that out.

  40. 07310099PepperLakeLivin on Fri Mar 05, 2010 10:07 AM

[32] If you print out the puzzle and add the lines it's easy. However, if you just extract the letters from the screen to paper you get one extra vowel, and may not line them up as pictured, which is probably what happened to the majority having problems with it.

My printer is down, so it took a lot longer than it should have.

  41. Pirate2Applecirestan on Fri Mar 05, 2010 10:16 AM

I actually own the OTHER two versions. Which made the solution for me a third try after a Google.

  42. KittylolxRocketjohanna on Fri Mar 05, 2010 11:05 AM

After also coming up with The Velours and their one hit wonder It's Not Unusual and getting nowhere with it, I'm now going to print the thing like the Salt says since all that was obviously a big red herring.

  43. KittylolxRocketjohanna on Fri Mar 05, 2010 11:28 AM

Okay. Printing did it and I guess the answer is because the other versions were not one hit wonders for the artists.

  44. 1491149327467c274f38542GrapesKickTheSky on Fri Mar 05, 2010 02:53 PM

[23] That gave me enough to go on and solve it. Thanks.

  45. BruticusPlumraichile on Fri Mar 05, 2010 05:10 PM

Fun puzzle, but Nazareth is not a one-hit wonder. "Hair of the Dog" was a hit, even being covered by Guns 'n' Roses.

  46. FractalEggdduensing on Fri Mar 05, 2010 06:31 PM

    [45] Way too salty

  47. Bp3Raspberryendel3 on Fri Mar 05, 2010 06:31 PM

[32] I guess we're not all as smart as you, and [24], thanks for the clue, and [23], I guess we don't all speak the same language as you....and [34] anagramming is the only way i finally got it, and [45]...agree absolutely
