[1] Thanks for the salt
{6} gave it to me - too much salt???
oh, duh!!
[6] nice......thanks
[6] thanks!
[6] Thank you!!
I can't see [6]. What did they say?
same here, why delete it after a dozen already used it?
My best night yet! 41st on Crypto, 27th on hyper, and 39th on OWW! No brick walls tonight!
[6] a touch heavy on the salt, but wouldn't have got it without your nudge.
what was 6?
Nice puzzle!
Google to the rescue - 69th solve!
ggrrrrrr i got nothing
[22] technically you should get it eventually. it IS a oww and may need a second step.
For those wondering about the deletes, people can flag comments and once 5 people flag it, it is automatically deleted. I know it feels unfair when you missed it but the fun is in the solving, right? :)
Thanks j15bell! I was so proud when I "got it" and so bummed when it was wrong. You got me to think a little further! Nice one, houck. Reminds me of a certain pink puuzle of yours. This one was even better1
yeah i don't know. this is too hard for me right now.
My initial guess was right, but I had to look up a technical term for it, instead of the immediate solution. I guess that why this is a one word wonder and not a cryptopix.
Definitely, do what [26] says and you'll get it. You may not get it otherwise unless you have a certain advanced degree.
What sort of technical term exists for this? I've gone through just about every word I've ever heard, and every word I can find on the internet. I've tried all the clouds that it comes from. I've tried what it is when it is falling, when it finishes falling, and everything in between. I am out of words.
Say exactly what you see....say it out loud. That should give you the answer to the first step. Then you can continue with what [26] suggested.
[23] gets my vote for comment of the year!
Thx for the puzzle...
Ah, unvoiced vs. voiced consonants, thou art ever my nemesis.
I have the first step. The first step is fairly evident. I have tried every single permutation of a second step that I can think of, and nothing has worked. How technical of a term are we talking about? Because I looked everywhere, and nothing shows anything technical for anything related to this.
You solved this puzzle in 5 minutes and 49 seconds and were the 113rd Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.
I don't even know how to possibly say "113rd"... one hundred thirteenthird?
defintely [28] & maybe [32] also, you are looking up technical terms for the wrong thing. Try repeating what you see as fast as you can, you might start to hear something different...
That's seriously terrible.
I CAN'T BELIEVE I COULDN'T SEE IT
Why have the second step when the first is one word by itself?
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH
NOWWW IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
only after staring at it for 1 hour 31 mins and 28 secs - I now I have a headache - but I guess that was the whole point, wasn't it??
Say the two words out loud. No really, do it near someone else. They'll hear the two word phrase that pays. You can do it to if you look into a mirror and say Boogeyman five times...or rather these two words in quick succession five or six times in three seconds. Then look it up in Google for the technical term for it (and if you find an appliance repair man, you've not said it fast enough). Wikipedia should be your third result for this two word phrase and finally give you the real phrase that pays, after which you'll be amazed at how quickly the blurry haze disappears.
soooo when you stare at the puzzle to long.....whats that cause on those two things on your head that you see with? do what [29] says and you'll be golden.....it's all in your minds EYE...er ear
The fact the second step exists is disappointing.
There are two very similar ways to spell the answer. The wrong one has an extra letter.
You solved this puzzle in 3 minutes and 16 seconds and were the 181st Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.
After glancing at the image and reading most of the comments, I got it immediately!
You solved this puzzle in 4 minutes and 11 seconds and were the 186th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.
It might also help if you replace the bottom object with a choo-choo.
okay got it finally. i didn't particularly like it, since it's the hearing that really suffers from this puzzle, but still kudos to a challenging puzzle.
[37[ Because it is a puzzle... and a very good puzzle indeed. Great job Houck!
Luckily I knew the answer word, but I can't say I use it very often in everyday conversation ;-)
And I mostly agree with [37] - we all define what a puzzle is to us differently, but it wouldn't have been much of one if it just stopped at the first step - IMHO.
Damn u Houck! The worst part is in hindsight i saw [6] all along. A ? like in crossword clue would have helped.
[45] you had me thinking it was Harold Hoag haha
No 1 tanga rule: There is always a second step in a OWW.
It took me a few hours to remember I'd forgotten that rule.:(
Great puzzle!
Oh, geez...!
wow, came to me. but a google lookup is mandatory (for all but tohse specialized medicos). hint: look hard.
Have to say that this is one of those puzzles that I absolutely hate - it has more than one possible and plausible answer.
Ice + drain = Iced rain = sleet, hail, etc.
Saying it quickly doesn't lead to eye strain at all, in my opinion. And the picture of ice kept reinforcing the meteorological phenomenon rather than a medical condition.
Congrats to the submitter for making a stumper.
Ah yes, Wikipedia to the rescue.
You solved this puzzle in 2 minutes and 1 second and were the 371st Tanga member to solve it. You earned 3 points for solving this.
Why is it when I am a year late, I solve easily without reading posts.....no pressure I guess.
