Would have made top ten on both crypto and oww if I had only done the final tangaing when I got the untangaed answer. 15 seconds wasted.

I kept putting in the wrong answer and asking myself, "How is that not right?"

    Then I finally said, "Ohhhhh."

I'm glad no one's with me to hear me talk to myself.

I get what all the words have in common, but I don't know where to go from there. Tangaing isn't working.

I likes it. of course I forgot the last step, but eventually made it.

[3] [9] You know, it's ok to talk to yourself. It's even ok to answer yourself. It's when you INTERRUPT yourself that you need to seek help! :)

  15. Avatar_smallOnionidontkn1 on Aug 04, 2010 07:57 PM

Dang second step. I sat with the answer from the first part for 45 minutes trying to figure out how I was wrong.

  16. Avatar_profileOrangethisismatt on Aug 04, 2010 07:58 PM

The leap to the answer is kind of dumb :|

emo sewa! I think that's Klingon talk for, "FUN ONE!" Thankya Rocketeer!

  18. FilePotatoMihmoos on Aug 04, 2010 08:45 PM

I must be dense. Salt, please. And please tell a newbie what "tangaing" is.

  19. OsmiumSailboatosmium on Aug 04, 2010 09:02 PM

[18] "Tanga-ing" is any of a number of ways of coming up with a letter from a group of letters or numbers. Sometimes Tanga-ing might me taking numbers and converting them into letters 1=A, 2=B etc.. Sometimes it could be 1st letter of first word, 2nd letter of 2nd word, etc... Good puzzlemakers leave clues to the solve method in the puzzle. Harder puzzles might have a second step as this one does, but the clue to the second step is actually hidden in the puzzle. Keep workin at it...after you build up your bag of tricks...many of the puzzles are more straightforward...although we have plenty of really clever puzzlemakers who challenge us daily.... Have fun and keep asking for help...its a good community here. Always someone willing to lend a helping hand.

obviously I have the first part, but I don't see the significance. I can't figure where to begin on the second step. Any help is appreciated.

  21. Avatar_profilePlumegates on Aug 04, 2010 10:48 PM

    Totally lost...any salt out there?

  22. Avatar_profileBananabhodges on Aug 05, 2010 06:23 AM

    Second step salt?

  23. OsmiumSailboatosmium on Aug 05, 2010 06:49 AM

SALT: If you have the first step, then note the unique quality that the first step answer shares with all of the above words.

Even more SALTY SALT: A hint to that "quality" can be found in the directions of the sign-posts.

  24. FilePotatoMihmoos on Aug 05, 2010 06:57 AM

Is it bad when the salt is more confusing than the original puzzle? :^x

You solved this puzzle in 5 minutes and 3 seconds and were the 229th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this. :0

A perfect tanga puzzle! Thanks Rocketeer!

[16] you haven't been tangaing long enough to see it.
[13], [23] my blood pressure increased greatly after reading (due to all the salt)!

  26. St._louis_blues_logoPlumAlphaSigChainsaw on Aug 05, 2010 10:27 AM

Would've gotten it sooner if it was spelled correctly...

  27. MarkerryanCarrotryanker on Aug 06, 2010 04:49 AM

    Darn it all to heck!!!

I got the second-to-last step and then couldn't figure out what to do with it. Just a little less caffeine this morning and I would have solved the puzzle instead of looking at the answer.

To all those that get a seemingly useless word and can't figure out what to do with it, remember what you did to the other 7.

  28. FilePumpkinJohnQ118 on Aug 06, 2010 06:56 PM

ididntsolvethesolutionway - but I got the answer noen-the-less.

LOL I got the final step because of how geologists read layers in rock... ;)

  30. FileGarlicdharmaRN on Jan 17, 2012 03:37 AM

the answer is much sweeter than you may suspect, puzzle-maker....... with that extra letter and all.
