uhh...
thank you google.
Kewl!
Had to use Google for this one. The 2nd half was pretty straight forward, the first half threw me.
You solved this puzzle in 1 minute and 47 seconds and were the 115th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.
I like the write up in the solution. You're welcome. ;)
Well there's my never-heard-it-before crypto quote of the week. Nice one!
( and I thought it was fish poo :-P )
the 172nd Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this. I can't believe how many of you knew this. I never heard of it.
That was incredibly obscure.... I also had the wrong word for the first word so it made it even harder.
thank you google... otherwise I NEVER would have figured this out.
I concur, without Google's help I never would have gotten it, heck I even had all of the words and I didn't think it made any sense.
[1] you got that right
I'm not a genius, but Google is.
Billy Crystal, Bob Costa or Ken Burns would've known this one in two seconds. I finally went to Google, although I had the Holy man right. Good puzzle!
I actually knew this one without Google (although I initially used a comma instead of "and"). I think that makes me officially OLD.
I've lived in Milwaukee all my life and I never heard of the second guy and I was in my early teens when the Braves moved to Atlanta!
Thought the first pic was "roe" but Google helped.
Would have never got that. Thanks Google!
In hardball circles, this is indeed a famous phrase
Thanks [17]
I like puzzles that teach while you solve. Fun! :)
I knew it right away but had no idea how to spell either name.
I had problems with the first picture, but when I got the bottom half of the puzzle, the phrase just came flying right back from something I read in my youth (I was born about 20 years after the phrase was created). Yay for all the useless information that stays in your brain!
never heard of it before
Well, that's not a priest, and I've never heard that phrase before. Obscure sports references are definitely NOT my thing. (Thank you, Google.)
[22] WAY too much help
Google FTW...
You solved this puzzle in 7 seconds
WHEEEE!!!
My only issue with this puzzle is the clarity of the last clue. To me it seems to clue the counter of the author's intention. For a phrase this arcane, seems like there should be no ambiguity in the clues. Of course, no one else mentioned it, so maybe the fault is in my interpretation : ).
a bit recundite, no?
[28] I think it was just you. :) Now that I study it, I can maybe see you going where you went but I had the right word immediately, which could be because I had the holy guy's word down and rhyming and rhythm would just kind of dictate the right word there.
[14] "early teens when they moved to Atlanta" - According to wikipedia, they moved to Atlanta in 1966. They moved to Milwakee in 1953. Before that, they were in Boston. The second guy played for Boston from 46-51, which means he was no longer on the team by the time you were born. Perhaps that's why you never heard of him? Thanks for the comment - I enjoyed that bit of research. I didn't know they were one of the charter teams from way back in the 1870s! :)
Yeah, thanks google.
You solved this puzzle in 56 seconds and were the 650th Tanga member to solve it.
To echo the many sentiments today...
Thanks Google! LOL.
Said it a 100 times, but never heard the saying before.
1. Incredibly obscure, would never have gotten it on my own.
2. The last bit was way too easy -- and plugging in the trivial rebus into the googlebar just gives you an answer.
So yeah -- thanks, google!
Never heard of it.
