#1 on Crypto and #7 here. Must've been those Wheaties I ate!
Nice job, ryanker. If I could count, I might have shaved a few seconds off my time. :)
[1] Hey! I'm #7 also!
A bit of work, but very straightforward.
MAINE! I think that's my best finish ever...
Made it more complicated than it was.
I think I'm overthinking this....any salt please?
I'm making this WAY too complicated I'm afraid. And now I can't start over and try simpler things... so I'm going to be waiting for salt. Man it's crazy how complicated I went with it thinking it was logical, haha.
None of this is salt, I haven't solved yet. :(
I missed the punctuation at first.
<salt>
This may be stating the obvious, but the word "order" is highlighted. Your job is to figure out how to apply that to what's shown.
</salt>
[1], weird, I was first on the Crypto tonite....
[10]- I'm OK with you saying that. I got that part. I can't figure out what I'm applying it to.
[10] I've got that that is significant, but can not figure out with my complication just what that means.
All the orders I have tried mean nothing since I can't figure out the other method.
way over thought, numbered this one.
didn't like the 2 character answer....took me a while to get back to the longer longer spelling of the answer
<salt>
Only 50 solves so far. Just because you weren't first doesn't mean there are no bonus points to be earned.
</salt>
I started off on the way way wrong track. Finally found my way back. I guess I should have looked more closely at which ones were represented to give me a better clue as to what to do with them.
Is it ordered by state or date?
I think I will place an order for these online!
Had the right idea. Had to leave before I finished. Came back 40 minutes later and finished. Still 72nd. Must be my lucky day.
This is a very "noisy" puzzle. Almost everything you see in the image is irrelevant.
<salt>
I just figured it out. The order isn't anything you could figure out just from the photo. Even a numismatist likely wouldn't have the information memorized. Google will be your friend. You definitely need to think "outside the photo."
</salt>
I've tried tangaing states order, quarter release order, alphabetical order, displayed order, but still can't get it! Salt!
I have the whole Quarters collection and I pulled it up. But the key to the puzzle is escaping me.
<salt>
I thought my first statement DElivered everything you needed. I guess I was wrong :o(
</salt>
[23] Exactly what I did, with abbreviations too... Nothing.
[23] It's not the order per se that you need, but the PLACEment within the overall order is crucial, and [22] is correct, Google is your friend there. Aside from that, all you really need to know, you learned in kindergarten!
[25] That's some FIRST class salt. You're A-1 in my book!
[5] Your salt is what gave me the IOWA(th) finish!
My first attempt led me to believe that this had something to do with the Thrilla in Manila. It didn't.
I came back an hour and a half later and still made #92.
[30] Ha ha. Me too! Got the KO'D MNILIA at first.
really...I come an hour and a half late and get 102???
[22] [27] if there is information that isn't in picture, then this is obscure. The dates of release are there, the date of admission to the union are there. The state's names (and abbr.) are implied. The placement in the photo are there.
[33] There's also the fact that those are quarters, and that in addition to the dates you mentioned, those quarters also include images and text -- but none of that is of any import. All that extraneous information provides another several dozen ways this puzzle could have worked, but what you actually need to know to solve this doesn't even appear in the puzzle!
I've still got nothing and am giving up for the night. I need some serious salt apparently because none of this salt has helped. Either a TG, or I'll get no points tomorrow night.
Thanks in advance if you TG. :)
So far I've tried
1) The day they were minted on
2) The state accession year
3) Ordering by the number of coins minted
all to no avail. Does this involve state capitals or something?
I've actually got two words but have no clu what they mean. I'm going to check my cipher one last time before I sleep on it, but I really thought I was going the right way on this one.
I started this more than 3 hours late, and still made 115.
You solved this puzzle in 3 hours, 49 minutes and 16 seconds and were the 116th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.
WOW... tough one tonight. Surprised to get in at 116th.
Could not have solved it without help from [25] and [29] - great clues!!! Thanks!!!
[36] You're on the right track with #2, but remember ORDER!
I'm new at this.. and I can't figure one out to for the life of me. I love the crypopixes, but I am clueless when it comes to this. Please help.. what does "salt" mean?
salt is a clue, here is some more and I hope it's not too much
<salt>
Just leave everything where it is.
</salt>
10 hours, 42 minutes and 14 seconds and were the 131st Tanga member to solve it. - Wow.
will someone please give some more salt or tg me, i can't figure this one out for the life of me
Wow, that was a tough one, but the penny finally dropped for me with comments [25], [27], [28]. You'll probably need to Google something you may have learned and forgot in grade or middle school.
[10] and [25] are grade A hints. [36] is REALLY close. Also [5] is quite salty indeed.
I feel so lost, haven't had that aha moment yet.
Edit: Figured out my missing step.
You solved this puzzle in 5 minutes and 41 seconds and were the 160th Tanga member to solve it.
Pretty easy. Just took some Googling.
This was a joke, right?
Crappy crappy crappy when you absolutely have to use Google to get the answer. It's not a matter of simplicity or not but that the "order" needed (the numbers needed to then Tanga) are not available from looking at information displayed in the puzzle.
