I GOT A NUMBER 1!!!
and I did the crypto first... That never happens
1st on Crypto, 10th here. Good night.
Roger that.
Note to any international Tanganites, you have to use the system that would be in use in the US. </salt>
[4] Yeah, that's as far as I got too. I know which are right and which are wrong but can't get anything useful out of it.
[6] You've tried looking at what's left, right?
was answering [4] but might have been too salty so deleted...
I was just about to make that much more difficult than it had to be, haha! Nice one!
Ooh, I feel like Jefferson!
Edit: And Da Vinci!
thank you [12]!
That is a ton of salt [10] with top 100 still open too...
Well I'm no farther along, even with the salt.
Hmm. I saw all of the now deleted (too salty) comments but I am still lost. :-(
[12] also is overly salty, IMO.
Neat puzzle. Finally hit me like a ton of bricks.
Do I need to pay attention to words that are only slightly phonetically off from what they should be?
Edit (I know which words are 'right' and 'wrong'; but some of the wrong ones are less wrong than others ... does that matter?)
[18] Good question! (I don't know but was wondering too)
[17] Perhaps - but I understand that everyone wants me to look to the left or what's left or whatever and I still don't get it.
I deleted my comment and I still have no idea
[18], they are either totally wrong or right. No gray areas.
[7] Thanks.
I sneaked in at 99th. Such a fine performance for a Tanga HotShot. :P
Oh, well.
Didn't care too much for the bit of a twist on the last step but throwing what I had into an anagram solver got me there too.
I give up.
You must "choose correctly" as the directions state.
[24] I'm with you!
[23] I was feeling a whole lot better about myself that you hadn't gotten it, lol! So thanks for taking your time tonight :) I'm still stuck at the same place I was 30 minutes ago. Got the "correct" ones. It's the a-ha moment that seems to be a bit delayed tonight. I'll get there.
[25] although I'm 99% sure I understand exactly what you mean by that (the play on words about choosing "correctly"), and although I have lists of correct words, incorrect words (parsed out every way I can think of), and a list of what the incorrect words should be, I just keep getting a bunch of junk. :-(
37 minutes and 57 seconds and were the 115th Tanga member to solve it. Drat.....made it harder than it is. Two steps. Don't make the first one harder than it is. The second will require a solver help.
have correctly chosen the letters from the wrong ones
but even with an anagram solver i am not coming up with the right word...
wow I can usually get these but the last three nights... I must have hit a slump even with the salt I'm still lost!!!
[30] You made it too hard. The first step is simpler than that.....see [25]'s salt
Whew! That was tough. First one though! :-)
I guess i don't understand the "salt" of choosing correctly
[34] There are incorrect and correct. choose correctly.
I believe I've chosen correctly, but I'm only getting garbage. Any salt for second step?
[25][34] *sigh* It wasn't the choosing that gave me (or a number of other people) grief. We chose the right ones just fine. It was figuring out how to read them that gave us fits.
Although if [30] didn't get it with the anagram solver, he probably hasn't chosen right. And for the record, you don't *need* an anagram solver. There's just really not a nudge in the puzzle telling you how to order what you've got. It's a simple enough order though.
[27] Glad I could make you feel better! lol
[36] yes - change the order that you read your garbage. Or resort to an anagram solver.
Took me a while. But the AHA came quickly once I had chosen wisely.
#138
Thank you!
Maybe if I'd use all of the letters in my anagrammer...ugh.
I finally got it. Be very careful when you type your long list of letters into the anagram solver.
I liked this puzzle, but the fact that some wrong words were way off and some were only slightly off added an unfortunate layer of confusion for me -- there seemed to be interesting phonetic differences with some of the wrong words, so I was confused when the solution had nothing to do with that pattern.
Edit: lol - I made a similar statement about last night's OOW. Sorry if I'm sounding negative guys ... I actually quite enjoyed both puzzles even if I had nits to pick. (I especially enjoyed last night's because I was able to crack the top 100!)
right idea.. but one word/letter was throwing me in multiple directions...
the ordering of the letters could have used an extra clue in the puzzle though...as [37] wrote.
I don't even know where to start "choosing correctly." I guess I'll sit this one out.
You solved this puzzle in 9 minutes and 22 seconds and were the 179th Tanga member to solve it.
Wish I could come on time so I can get top 100 again
Nice puzzle twj, I didn't need any salt!
Oh, I did get it. I ended up ignoring all the hints though!
wow, finally
You solved this puzzle in 30 minutes and 20 seconds and were the 188th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10
I agree with [40]. I wish they had all been obviously right or obviously wrong. One of them (the animal) is a common shorthand among pilots of the correct version, so I didn't immediately see it as being wrong. But I also enjoyed the puzzle.
The smiley face was more confusing than helpful for me.
I see what you did there. Good puzzle. I do agree with [40] and [41] about the choice of words but bravo zulu on otherwise.
Finally got it this morning... thanks [40]...be very careful when choosing correctly and when putting the letters into anagram solver.
[44] Good plan.
Since I probably sounded negative last night too, I'll say this was a good puzzle twj! As others have said, there were things that proved red herrings for me but nothing that ruined the puzzle per se. My problem was more with misleading salt and personal failings than your creation.
[44] Initially had an extra G but the answer became obvious anyhow.
Woot! Got my radish! (...or is that a beet?)
[50] I was told back when I was one that it is a radish.
Thanks for the clue to use anagram solver - it was very handy...
Anagram solver, really?
I can see how some people might get the word without an anagram solver but I used one. One would have to know how to read 'correctly'. I didn't. I dislike using solvers but I was worn out by the last step and didn't want to spend any more time on it. I am still not sure how we were to intuit the 'order' of things because it didn't seem to be clued?
