Heh... for those of you out there who've been asking for some more challenging Cryptos :)

  2. FileCheeseburgerQurqirishDragon on Feb 06, 2011 07:01 PM

One of my favorite sayings! I got it after the first 2 images :-)

    [1] You don't say!

3 minutes and 57 seconds and I was 21st! Woo-hoo! I got the 2nd row and had the 1st row but couldn't spell it for google to assist. Once I picked out the right word in the last picture (stupid me), I got it close enough for google to correct me. Added the 2nd word and... voila! I had the answer. Whatever it is.

And, yes, I did like it. Really! :)

  8. FileRaspberrydsmeyer on Feb 06, 2011 07:07 PM

[1] but challenging doesn't mean bad.

  9. FileGarlictwofalls on Feb 06, 2011 07:07 PM

#%$#^&^ spelling! Probably would have done better than 29th. Ah well, not bad considering I'd never encountered this before. Well clued. Thanks!

  10. 50s_womanCarrotpennyb9 on Feb 06, 2011 07:09 PM

Nine minutes in and I'm 55th? Wow. As for the solution, Huh???

  11. FileCheeseburgerQurqirishDragon on Feb 06, 2011 07:11 PM

For those with spelling problems, once again I'll say: "get a spell-check for your browser" Right clicking on a form field and selecting spell-check is much faster than hoping google's autocomplete will work.

  12. FilePotatoDevin8r on Feb 06, 2011 07:12 PM

Once I quit thinking about the cabbage I ate, I worked it out!

  13. BjDuckiedrlaura92 on Feb 06, 2011 07:13 PM

[3] thanks, I needed to google your major with what I had to get the quote. Don't think I ever heard it before.

Wooooo . . ! Never heard of it. Seems I need to learn something tonight. Tks Google. 81st in 12+.

Many thanks to my mother in-law and step father in-law who helped me brainstorm this one. :)

You are a freaking genius!! You solved this puzzle.

You solved this puzzle in 5 minutes and 31 seconds and were the 86th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 25 points for solving this.

  18. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Feb 06, 2011 07:15 PM

[11] Google's "did you mean..." helped me here...

  19. Avatar_profileGrapesmellyagain on Feb 06, 2011 07:16 PM

You solved this puzzle in 12 minutes and 6 seconds and were the 89th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 22 points for solving this.

Wow. I would have never gotten that without [3]!

Sub 100 for Cryptopix and OWW... first time!

  20. Untitled-1PumpkinAdamMcD on Feb 06, 2011 07:18 PM

[12] Same here. Barely snuck in at 99th.

[2] I KNEW I made this too easy.

  23. Daisy_bellis_perennisAcejargonista on Feb 06, 2011 07:23 PM

    [22] LOL

  24. Brownie_sundaeGarlicbrownie1 on Feb 06, 2011 07:27 PM

[22] RIGHT! I can't believe this was HARDER than the one word wonder. Good puzzle even though it took forever to figure this out.

  25. Avatar_959_jpg100_200x200RaspberryRocketeer on Feb 06, 2011 07:30 PM

Got it, but that black image on left middle, all I see is a squiggly white line. I think I know what it is suppesed to be, but just can't see it.

    Otherwise, nice one!

  26. Eg181208Potatotvfamily on Feb 06, 2011 07:53 PM

This is not easy, not a nice one, nor a "fun" puzzle. I'm not LOL......:(

Edit: 48 minutes and 14 seconds and were the 146th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this. This is the first time I felt "freak'n genius" was appropriate. Would never have solved this except for [3], and then I got a wrong clue, which sent me spinning out of control for a while. I still feel that this was NOT fun, but WORK and I do enough of THAT each day!

  27. Dsc00764Potatosphenderson2008 on Feb 06, 2011 07:34 PM

    Amazing!

  28. Picture-303Pumpkingodard on Feb 06, 2011 07:40 PM

    Whoa

  29. FilePepperChupper on Feb 06, 2011 07:57 PM

Thank you 8th grade bio class! Too bad this theory has been discredited.

  30. ErwinPepperTangaAl on Feb 06, 2011 08:05 PM

[29] did it for me. Thanks!

  31. FileEggplantdturok on Feb 06, 2011 08:30 PM

You solved this puzzle in 33 seconds and were the 71st Tanga member to solve it. You earned 40 points for solving this. And a top 100 for oww. And I got here late. I guess everyone was still watching the game!

  32. Avatar_profileStrawberryemeraldmist on Feb 06, 2011 09:12 PM

That you Bio for majors and Google!!! Good puzzle! So much better than the OWW!

  33. FileRocketjss31 on Feb 06, 2011 10:11 PM

Yikes, that hurt my brain and ego! Thank goodness for my dear son who explained this to me (using small words).

I'm now going to go to the kitchen and create something delicious, because in my realm, I am a GENIUS!!

  34. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Feb 06, 2011 10:29 PM

How many words is this? I managed to get a word out of the entire 2nd line, but the rest is just gibberish to me. Google is no help.

Edit: Got it Googling [29]'s info. I had the wrong word for the center pic on the third line. I never learned about this in school at all. Not in high school biology or my college zoology class. I wonder if they don't teach it anymore because it's been discredited?

  35. Art_land_of_free_eagleEggplantJWillOH on Feb 06, 2011 11:02 PM

    [26] agree....not fun at all.

  36. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Feb 06, 2011 11:57 PM

[8] ds, I'm confused at your comment. I didn't I say or imply that this puzzle was bad in any way - at all. I'm not sure why you read [1] that way.

I rather enjoy this one, actually. Partly for its audacity, because it's definitely more challenging than usual. Which is all I was saying.

  37. Ncvacation2011_123Acemmp21989 on Feb 07, 2011 06:12 AM

    Wow... Good one!

  38. AvadoneDuckiebargellos on Feb 07, 2011 07:00 AM

Note for Moderators and Puzzle Creators: The lefthand image on the second row shows up as mostly black on my monitor. My monitor is challenged with brightness/contrast. A dark grey item on a black background shows up as mostly black. The lighter edge toward the bottom made me think it was a letter Q until I copied the image to an editing program and brightened it. So please aim for more contrast between objects and their backgrounds.

  39. Full-grown-pygmy-goatApplehorizon86 on Feb 07, 2011 07:49 AM

My Google searchers were not helping at all. It wasn't until I realized that I was incorrectly identifying a dam picture that my 8th grade science memories kicked in.

  40. GummiesAppleploobers on Feb 07, 2011 08:07 AM

Thanks [39], I was making the same mistake.

  41. LadybugRadishPimanee on Feb 07, 2011 08:12 AM

Would have never figured it out with out (39). I was making the same mistake!

  42. KittylolxRocketjohanna on Feb 09, 2011 11:43 AM

What is the left middle picture? All I see is a pale white sine wave on black. Edit: Thanks for the CAP info [49]. And if you Google the right Beaver domicile, that actual picture comes up. Once I got past those two things, I thought it was a cool puzzel. I like learning something.

  43. Toco_toucanGrapesnealeyj on Feb 07, 2011 10:38 AM

    THANK GOD FOR GOOGLE!!!

Not that I knew what i was looking for exactly. The salt of Biology helped. Just kept looking until I saw something that kinda resemble the answers I had
I had trouble with the DAM picture, too

Glad this one is over! WHEEWW!

  44. FilePlumjebloom22 on Feb 07, 2011 10:51 AM

You solved this puzzle in 19 minutes and 10 seconds and were the 345th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.

    OK....

  45. 46210_425832990777_538840777_5439905_4594277_nStrawberrysew4my3 on Feb 07, 2011 11:35 AM

I think I killed some brain cells on this one. Nicely done!

  46. Tanga_shadow_goat_2-fpAceshiella on Feb 07, 2011 12:23 PM

I thought this puzzle was interesting! I liked the cluing. The biology salt really helped .My 8th grade biology was many(many) years ago. I remember hearing about this then and also in my 20's when a lot friends were beginning families. Nice to know some of my knowledge has been discredited, lol.
I don't know if it will help but for anyone still trying-- try turning your phoetic sounds into "scientific" lettering
Asked my 3 kids (HS and college) they said it was touched upon but was not a test question lol
PS. I like puzzles that add to my education. I like searching for clues especially when I encounter inticing exstraineous(sp?) threads that I might explore later. I'm still trying to figure out how to do some of the "computer" stuff you wizzy folks know. For instance, I'm going to figure out how to incorporate that spell checking tip from above. So thanks

  47. Avatar_profileGrapesjakryk on Feb 07, 2011 12:40 PM

Liked the puzzle, but the first image on the second line is so dark I had no idea what it was. Even knowing what it is doesn't help. Don't think it would have made a difference is solving, but better images would have helped. I do like having trickier puzzles.

  48. Avatar_profileRocketducko on Feb 07, 2011 12:57 PM

I can't understand how you can get a solution from "on taj N erie hat pitch mongkut eights fi dam annie". It that's too salty then I apologize and I will give up.

  49. FilePumpkinJohn on Feb 07, 2011 01:10 PM

    um yeah... DID NOT LIKE

[48] It's a CAP. That's YUL Brenner, and apparently beavers don't live in a damn dam any more...

And even with that heavy salt, good luck. It's not something 99% of us will recognize.

  50. Avatar_profilePeachKinglink on Feb 07, 2011 01:12 PM

Holy.... That was a hard puzzle. I had to break it down from the middle line and then google it since I've never heard the phrase before. And even then there was a tweaking.

  51. 125ApplePDXErik on Feb 07, 2011 01:22 PM

Thumbs down. I agree with [49]. Not fun and very obscure. Even sounding it out, only biology majors would get this.

  52. Avatar_profilePlumapp2ride on Feb 07, 2011 02:32 PM

Beavers make a dam but they Live in a Lodge !!

  53. Avatar_profileStrawberryswright363 on Feb 07, 2011 03:21 PM

UGH!! I'm lost and my head hurts. Giving up on this one, but was still fun trying!!!!

  54. Avatar_profileBananacarloscov on Feb 07, 2011 06:06 PM

It works a bit better with Ron Wealey's sister instead of the orphan. Otherwise, very clever puzzle.

  55. FileRocket2polaris on Feb 07, 2011 09:23 PM

You solved this puzzle in 1 day, 1 hour, and 42 minutes and were the 430th Tanga member to solve it.

WOW that was a tough one!! Couldn't of got it w/o some serious salt, thanks especially to [49], [39], and [54].

  56. SlideuleSailboatDaSaintFan on Feb 21, 2011 06:26 AM

yeah [49], this one would appeal probably only to Bio majors... (only got it cause i knew what to search for on the 3rd word after getting the first two sounded out correctly).

  57. FileKiwiKharing68 on Mar 25, 2011 09:50 AM

    What the HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  58. FileEggplanthankescu on May 26, 2011 01:07 AM

Wowser. Too bad everything I know about biology I learned on the streets.
