You solved this puzzle in 6 minutes and 56 seconds and were the 47th Tanga member to solve it

Fun one! I'll admit to using a crossword solver for help.

  10. FileTomatobcgrote on Feb 18, 2011 07:07 PM

Nice! Tougher with 3, but solveable!

  11. FilePepperclarencebyer on Feb 18, 2011 07:07 PM

Hmmm....where to start with this one?

  12. Avatar_profileGrapescallumny on Feb 18, 2011 07:10 PM

Argh the one time I actually got here in time to be in the top 100, and I can't figure it out!!

  13. FileCarrotmmene on Feb 18, 2011 07:10 PM

    awesome!

  14. FileRaspberryMarkel on Feb 18, 2011 07:10 PM

Took a lot of work on a crossword solver, but ended up quite do-able.

  15. Julia20Sailboatjila58 on Feb 18, 2011 07:14 PM

to me, if you need a crossword solver that's not do-able, but maybe that means I'm not a serious enough solver

  16. Cutie_jillianPeppersuzique on Feb 18, 2011 07:16 PM

    Cle ver bal!

  17. Fence_squarePlumcarolee999 on Feb 18, 2011 07:17 PM

    Fun, but challenging!

  18. FileEggplantJohnS43 on Feb 18, 2011 07:20 PM

I have all the missing letters for the first and last group, but five different crossword solvers tell me there's no word that can be made with that pattern. Are there multiple possible answers for 1-3 and 7-9?

    NM ... figured it out!

  19. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Feb 18, 2011 07:30 PM

[18] You're not making a 9 letter word, you're doing the same thing that you did for the first part of the puzzle.

  20. Water_dropEggplantMrsH2Os on Feb 18, 2011 07:26 PM

Shoot! Had my first and second words reversed. Came in at 101.

  21. FileEggplantsuigeneris on Feb 18, 2011 07:28 PM

Didn't need the crossword solver, but it took almost 8 minutes.

  22. Julia20Sailboatjila58 on Feb 18, 2011 07:30 PM

I'm having the same problem as [18] , are you really doing the same thing as with the other 6 clues?

  23. Ratebeer2Raspberrybeerguy101 on Feb 18, 2011 07:34 PM

took me a long time for the second step. Needed to look in a whole new direction [18] [22]

  24. FilePepperclarencebyer on Feb 18, 2011 07:36 PM

Thanks [16] Very helpful. Now if I could figure out the first one at the top, I'd be well on my way. Salt?

  25. Julia20Sailboatjila58 on Feb 18, 2011 07:39 PM

I had a different answer on the 3rd line, but the "correct" answer fit better (more common/sense words)

  26. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Feb 18, 2011 07:41 PM

[24] I didn't actually solve the 1st one. I just used a crossword solver. But tying a string on your finger might help you out if you are looking to solve it "right".

  27. Julia20Sailboatjila58 on Feb 18, 2011 07:44 PM

[24] if nothing comes to mind, the crossword solvers make a good last resort. I think that's what a lot of people here are using. It is possible to see them on your own, but it's tricky and I can't think of a way to force it or get it through sheer effort if the answers just won't come.

  28. Julia20Sailboatjila58 on Feb 18, 2011 07:46 PM

Even though it seems a bit on the "you have to be a genius or look on the internet" side, I'm quite impressed with the creation of this puzzle. VERY clever.

  29. Avatar_959_jpg100_200x200RaspberryRocketeer on Feb 18, 2011 07:55 PM

[28] I'm definitely not a genius, but I refused to resort to the internet on this one ... and, as (almost) always, persistence pays. (Gotta fight off that Alzheimer's every chance I get!)

    Very nice puzzle!!

  30. FilePepperclarencebyer on Feb 18, 2011 07:55 PM

Thanks [26], [27] Got it right away!

  31. Eg181208Potatotvfamily on Feb 18, 2011 08:09 PM

the 138th Tanga member to solve it. [19] thanks for the ending salt. I think alzheimers set in for a minute.

  32. Brownie_sundaeGarlicbrownie1 on Feb 18, 2011 08:11 PM

Tough puzzle over 1 hour later! 140th solver

  33. Avatar_profileOrangeParr0tHed on Feb 18, 2011 10:31 PM

I just totally don't get this one at all. :(

  34. Images_1_Sailboathurricanechelsea on Feb 18, 2011 10:49 PM

oooh that was clever! I wish I hadn't started to do something else and forgotten about the puzzle because I might have been one of the first 100. Oh well. It was still a really cool puzzle.

  35. Cat_human_smilePeachKeepsOnLaffing on Feb 18, 2011 11:31 PM

    172nd in 2:36:17
And, yep, that is TWO hours :(

  37. Ncvacation2011_123Acemmp21989 on Feb 19, 2011 06:00 AM

Thanks for the challenge, must67!! I enjoyed it!

  38. Img_3291Applejoederf on Feb 19, 2011 06:13 AM

Step 1 is straightforward, 2nd step is consistent, then 3rd step is figuring out which word serves as the answer. Very clever and challenging!

  39. FileAceDavidL on Feb 19, 2011 06:01 PM

There was a second set of letters that made the puzzle work and I was really disappointed it wasn't the answer. I had a real laugh.

  40. AnguseyeaCarrotbamar on Feb 20, 2011 08:23 AM

Lots of fun to do and a very nicely constructed puzzle.

  41. Img_0189Egggst on Feb 22, 2011 02:20 AM

More to this one than meets the eye; very subtle word choices add a lot to the enjoyment. Well done!
