I have all the words correct (I think) but I just can't get it. Any salt (we just passed 100 solves)

  6. OctopusPeppercomishcraig on Mar 09, 2011 07:12 PM

How do I not have this? I have a perfectly clued word that doesn't work.

  7. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Mar 09, 2011 07:16 PM

[5] [6] The word or words clued is indicating the actual answer.

  8. Pb-101214-cross-eyed-9a.photoblog900_cSailboatwidedeki on Mar 09, 2011 07:16 PM

I agree I have the word too, but cannot get it to work

  9. Gap_-_blue_eyesDuckiespeedgitano on Mar 09, 2011 07:46 PM

    Salt please!

edit: Finally got it thanks to sonjahi! Reminds me of the B-52's . . .

    Wow! took me FOREVER[9]!

  12. Img_0538smallPeachCherokeeGypsy44 on Mar 09, 2011 07:19 PM

That was hard. But IT can be done.

  13. Bp3Eggendel3 on Mar 10, 2011 04:15 AM

    no effin clue--nothing I try works--AM again!!!!

    Ugh---that was kinda tough...

  14. Untitled-1PumpkinAdamMcD on Mar 09, 2011 07:22 PM

[7] I should clarify. I have the initial (partial) words from the puzzle, but I can't make sense of them. I am assuming that once I do make sense of them that there is another step, but I'm not there yet ... I'm still on the step before that. :-/

(I believe I correctly interpreted each clue)

  15. FileRocketjss31 on Mar 09, 2011 07:21 PM

    That was a great puzzle!

  16. CheemaEggcheema on Mar 09, 2011 07:23 PM

[9] the letter is made out of the cousin

    [14] slur them together

    Fun puzzle

  17. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Mar 09, 2011 07:23 PM

[14] Yeah, I was stuck where you are for a long time too. Google helped me once I changed the spelling around a bit.

  18. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Mar 09, 2011 07:27 PM

[17] I've tried dozens of spelling and google ain't helpin' me! Just not my night - looks like it will be at best a 40 point night?

edit: p&s - I misinterpreted kc's comment in [7] to mean the opposite of what he said. I finally got a google hit that worked and thought "he lied!" lol - then I read the comment better.

    Good job, houck!

  19. Avatar_profileStrawberrynikitas84 on Mar 09, 2011 07:25 PM

I have the first two parts, but the third picture loses me

  20. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Mar 09, 2011 07:28 PM

[18] I'm female :) Glad if you finally figured it out though!

  21. Untitled-1PumpkinAdamMcD on Mar 09, 2011 07:38 PM

[20] You can't take too much offense though, because it looks like [18] simply assumes that liars are male! (Just kidding sonjahi ... of course)

    Now that I look closer, that's definitely a woman's eye. ;-)

  22. Avatar_profilePeachvbruss on Mar 09, 2011 07:34 PM

That was tough. Had it right, but I kinda take issue with that Mandela pic in there...threw me off the scent w/pronunciation.

  23. Nick_dress_blues_2Pancakesbitwisenot on Mar 09, 2011 07:39 PM

[22] I also had problems with the phonetics. Also, this felt like a One-Word Crypto.

  24. Brownie_sundaeGarlicbrownie1 on Mar 09, 2011 07:48 PM

    SALT???

    Nevermind

This seemed a little confusing to me.

  25. Untitled-1PumpkinAdamMcD on Mar 09, 2011 07:49 PM

LOL — no wonder I was having such a hard time, I was using "blender" for the first word. Duh! Got it right away after that piece of info from bitwisenot ... thanks!

  26. BjDuckiedrlaura92 on Mar 09, 2011 07:52 PM

I came up with a real word that fits all of the clues, but is not correct. Two days in a row of being lost on the OWW.

  27. FilePlumTracer on Mar 09, 2011 08:06 PM

You solved this puzzle in 14 minutes and 15 seconds and were the 194th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.
    grrrr indirect route

  28. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Mar 09, 2011 08:19 PM

[20] Ha-ha! Sorry about that! I'm usually so careful about using s/he when I don't know. Adam's right. I just assumed you were male when I thought you were a liar! Just kidding guys... :)

  29. FileOnionquantamm on Mar 09, 2011 08:23 PM

Oddly enough, I managed to manipulate the clues into the name of a famous Chapel that gave me the answer. Which is for the best, since I wasn't familiar with the actual clue.

  30. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Mar 09, 2011 10:25 PM

[25] ????? LOL, how were you subtracting EGGB from BLENDER?

  31. SlideuleSailboatDaSaintFan on Mar 10, 2011 01:53 AM

Beh!! I was totally mispronouncing the hairy wonder (HIRSUTE! *hehe*) I kept sticking an extra word in the clue because i was seeing multiple hirsutes :;)

(yes , even us newer arrivals learned all about that one!)

  32. MarkerryanCarrotryanker on Mar 10, 2011 03:31 AM

It took me a while to get a sufficient amount of slurring.

I did manage to find a nice accidental (I have to believe) red herring: If you anagram the words from step one you can make LENT EATERIES. Given the time of year, this seems like a reasonable path to go down. To bad it didn't lead anywhere.

  33. Eg181208Potatotvfamily on Mar 10, 2011 08:09 AM

The 302nd Tanga member to solve it! :) Couldn't do it last night, so put put my mind to it this morning with new slurring accents and googling and found out the answer isn't the slurred word. There's a step two! These are the kind of OWW's that I expect from Houck....why is he so quiet during these reveals? I don't think he ever comments on his own puzzles.......

[18] ONLY 40 POINTS tonight!? Wow.........I'm speechless...... another surprise tonight.... [20] is female.
    [30] good point.

  34. FilePumpkinJohn on Mar 10, 2011 09:17 AM

Sorry, but I found this one to be sketchy... (not salt, just disappointment)

  35. Untitled-1PumpkinAdamMcD on Mar 10, 2011 09:55 AM

[30] [33] I thought the first clue represented an EGGBLENDER instead of what it actually is. So, I thought the first partial word clued was "LENDER".

I've never heard nor have I uttered the words "egg blender" in my life, so I'm not sure why I thought that. (probably due to sleep deprivation)

... I kept searching for a place called "Lendernal" ...

  36. GollumStrawberryjebe54 on Mar 10, 2011 10:52 AM

Google is not helping me. Im pretty sure I have the words right. Im hitting nothing here

  37. FileOnionjaymanmsu on Mar 10, 2011 11:16 AM

The upper right clue definitely has the wrong vowel sound.

  38. Doughboy_vampireApplejonrichard300 on Mar 10, 2011 06:42 PM

Am I supposed to be concerned about the number of beasts inside the letter?

[Edit][39] I know they're not beasts, but I didn't want it to be obvious. Let's try this again...Am I supposed to be concerned about the number of cousins inside the letter?

  39. Tanga_shadow_goat_2-fpAceshiella on Mar 10, 2011 02:07 PM

[38] no. and I wouldn't call it a beast; it wouldn't like that so don't get it stirred up lol boy I wish I could have been here at 9:59 pm. I got it in 3 min &25 sec w/out salt I found this one easy for some unknown reason.

  40. Oregon_ducksKiwiChrystyA on Mar 10, 2011 05:20 PM

    Enjoyed this one a lot!

  41. FileDuckiePatanga on Aug 06, 2011 01:19 PM
