    yay, my first first!

    very nicely put together

  2. Avatar_profilePearmundane on Jun 01, 2007 07:26 PM

All I can think of is letters that are taller than the rest or extend below the rest but that is getting me nowhere.

[2] I was working that same line with every possible order and using the numbers I see for counting, but just come up with gibberish.

  5. FileGrapesxpsdude on Jun 01, 2007 07:36 PM

There are also eight words and eight numbers.

    Got nothing so far.

  6. FileCarrotgrizzly76 on Jun 01, 2007 07:39 PM

Each word is ten letters long too.

  7. FilePotatozebrakb on Jun 01, 2007 07:40 PM

I have seven words that meet my interpretation of the first half of the quote and 4 of these meet my interpretation of the second half of the quote, and all I get is junk when I try to apply any of the numbers.

  8. Phi3CornPhilana on Jun 01, 2007 07:41 PM

    Yes, very nice!

[2] and [4] are on the right track. There are some key words in the quotation.

Woohoo! Top 5 is a first for me!

The quote tells you what to pay attention to. Thanks [5] for pointing out the eight words and eight numbers.

Use the second half of the quote to sort the words then apply the numbers.

  12. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Jun 01, 2007 07:47 PM

9th, in 4:53. And yes, many thanks to [5].

  13. FilePotatozebrakb on Jun 01, 2007 07:52 PM

I spent way too much time looking at the Ts, because they "cross the line."

  14. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Jun 01, 2007 07:56 PM

[13] Please tell me I didn't just waste an hour on that.

Oy. Finally got it. Thanks [13] for forcing me to change my thinking.

Rats, would have been in top 10 if not for that darned phone call that interrupted me!

  16. FileRocketPhantaCComics on Jun 01, 2007 08:01 PM

eh, 22nd for me, not too shabby. I figured out how to organize the words easily enough but for some reason it took me forever to figure out what to do next. I think my brain just shut off for a bit. Really, fairly standard puzzle but very nicely done.

  17. FilePotatozebrakb on Jun 01, 2007 08:05 PM

[14] I had long ago realized that there were 8 words and 8 numbers, but I spent almost 40 minutes using the Ts and 2 numbers with each of those 4 words.

  18. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Jun 01, 2007 08:11 PM

[17] Same here. And then with the specific order of numbers given, I was certain they were actually four sets of two numbers with one signifying which letter and the other which word (like X letter of word X), which actually ended up making a bunch of real words, depending on the order.

Yikes, it hurt to find out I was that far off. I just got pwned.

  19. FileDuckiedavey3 on Jun 01, 2007 08:23 PM

Not bad. I started down the wrong "cross" road as well and needed a bit of salt to get on the right path.

Finally got it (stopped to watch a movie and think a bit) with salt. We were fixated on the single character that both rose above and sunk below the line.

  21. FilePlumSpanky on Jun 01, 2007 08:34 PM

    Good Puzzle. Finally got it!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. FileGarlicHope2002 on Jun 01, 2007 08:42 PM

Once I figured out how to break a tie, it was easy. Thanks Mr. Green for a nice puzzle. I salute you and Jeremiah.

I had some "ups and downs" through this puzzle.

  28. FractalTomatodduensing on Feb 05, 2009 04:58 PM

Small bug in the puzzle, determining where to put "thriftshop" and "hallelujah". Beware of it....I had to swap their positions to solve.
