    A little loony, but interesting....

  6. 07310099PancakesLakeLivin on Mar 18, 2011 07:04 PM

Yea, a top 20 on the crypto & a top 10 here even with a trip to google! I was wondering if a word would come out of that.

  7. Untitled-1PumpkinAdamMcD on Mar 18, 2011 07:04 PM

I hesitated before entering the word I got ... I guess I thought it meant something different (it's not in my daily vocabulary). Yet another great puzzle Jeb!

  9. Donimo_pirate_beatlesTomatoDonimo on Mar 18, 2011 07:05 PM

Damn. Puzzle solving rule #34: Always go with your gut.

    A very nice find, jebediehard!

  10. Nick_dress_blues_2Pancakesbitwisenot on Mar 18, 2011 07:05 PM

Oh very clever. Got on the right track pretty quickly, but still took me a bit of time to get to the answer. I liked it!

  11. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Mar 18, 2011 07:08 PM

Got caught by the (intentional?) red herring with the first two pair. Oops. Realized quickly that wouldn't work.

  12. Avatar_profilePotatoxanderphilip on Mar 18, 2011 07:09 PM

    meep!

  13. BjDuckiedrlaura92 on Mar 18, 2011 07:09 PM

I have been slower lately on OWWs, so I am thrilled with my 58th place.

  14. Mike_cartoonizer_1Bananamathewsmike on Mar 18, 2011 07:11 PM

Nice puzzle...Five minutes late and I still got a top 100!!!

  15. Bp3Eggendel3 on Mar 19, 2011 04:33 AM

I have a feeling I'll like it once I get it....

I did, but took me too long!

  16. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Mar 18, 2011 07:12 PM

Another post deleted. I don't even know why I bother.

  17. Images_1_Sailboathurricanechelsea on Mar 18, 2011 07:18 PM

    lost.

    (edit)
Whew, just made it at #95. Helps when you calculate the right numbers! : /

  18. FilePepperdajagr on Mar 18, 2011 07:14 PM

Got the first two, read [9], and went with my gut. Worked out.

  19. Nick_dress_blues_2Pancakesbitwisenot on Mar 18, 2011 07:14 PM

[16] As with many OWWs, a careful reading of the instructions is key.

  20. Dsc00099BananaAmandaToller on Mar 18, 2011 07:14 PM

I thought I knew what to do but hit a dead end and now im stuck again???

  21. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Mar 18, 2011 07:19 PM

[21] Look at each pair, then re-read the instructions at the bottom.

  22. 07310099PancakesLakeLivin on Mar 18, 2011 07:22 PM

[17] The following thread might give you an idea as to why some of your fellow Tanganites are finding your salt a bit too salty, especially when there are still bonus points available : ).

    http://www.tanga.com/forum/blogs/what-makes-salt-salty-and-what-makes-it-taste-bad

  23. FilePotatojunderscore on Mar 18, 2011 07:26 PM

Ah, snap! I was solving in the wrong order and figured it out in time to get 102nd. This should have been a quickie for me.

  24. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Mar 18, 2011 07:28 PM

[23] It wasn't salt, it was a comment. It wasn't meant to give away the answer.

  25. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Mar 18, 2011 07:29 PM

[23] Although, ironically, I think I saw kc's comment on this thread and it didn't help me. Either that or it got deleted before I refreshed.

This was a nice puzzle even if it felt like it took months for me to solve it. I clued in immediately on what information I needed to gather and what was of interest but never thought to use the information the way it was used here. That may not make sense but to say what my problem was more clearly would be to give it all away.

  26. Nick_dress_blues_2Pancakesbitwisenot on Mar 18, 2011 07:31 PM

[26] I think it's just the old age kicking in. ;)

  27. Brownie_sundaeGarlicbrownie1 on Mar 18, 2011 07:33 PM

Nice puzzle! When we finally came up with the letters I typed it in. Along time ago there was a super saver store in our area with that name. (This wasn't salt) 98th

  28. Eg181208Potatotvfamily on Mar 18, 2011 07:33 PM

    I'm ready for some salt.....

  29. MarkerryanCarrotryanker on Mar 18, 2011 07:35 PM

It's half past and I'm only 113th? That's a good OWW average solve speed IMO.

    (1 min 58 for me.)

  30. Nick_dress_blues_2Pancakesbitwisenot on Mar 18, 2011 07:35 PM

[29] If it helps, the instructions given in the puzzle have 2 components. The first part tells you how to solve the puzzle. The second part is an alternate subtle hint at the answer. You might need to use google to get some of the relevant information. And remember, this is Tanga!

  31. Eg181208Potatotvfamily on Mar 18, 2011 07:49 PM

the 120th Tanga member to solve it. Had the right procedure, couldn't count tonight! Ugh! :(

  32. ErwinPepperTangaAl on Mar 18, 2011 08:09 PM

    I liked this one, Jeb!

  33. Avatar_smallOnionidontkn1 on Mar 18, 2011 09:19 PM

If you are still lost a certain cartoon fiend can probably send you a clue via mail order.

  34. 8grg3zbpu691mpv38q2nRaspberryjebediehard on Mar 18, 2011 09:40 PM

    [34] That would be dynamite!

  35. Avatar_profilePeachKinglink on Mar 18, 2011 09:45 PM

[34] is kind of a bit too obvious. but otherwise I probably wouldn't have gotten it.

  36. MeKiwiwaznotwas on Mar 18, 2011 11:04 PM

not seeing it and i guess i don't watch enough cartoons.
a tg with a pinch of salt would be greatly appreciated.

  37. AvadoneDuckiebargellos on Mar 19, 2011 12:35 AM

I feared that this had a huge twist and a lot of work involved. I was happy that the solution came through so readily.

  38. Images_1_Sailboathurricanechelsea on Mar 19, 2011 12:57 AM

    This puzzle is the best.

  39. Tanga_shadow_goat_2-fpAceshiella on Mar 19, 2011 02:02 AM

I will have to come back later- all I have is fuzz covered with lint!

  40. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Mar 19, 2011 04:46 AM

[37] The cartoon reference isn't easy to get except in retrospect. It shouldn't be a factor in solving the puzzle.

  41. ElmoballsGarlicJavamed on Mar 19, 2011 06:19 AM

Ha... went to bed unsuccessful...cartoon reference got it for me in an instant. Feel dirty for getting it that way though. Hehe

  42. Avatar_profileKiwiKayAnders on Mar 19, 2011 09:06 AM

[41] The cartoon reference was what let me solve the puzzle. I was looking at the wrong thing, but as soon as I read [34] I got it.

  43. Img_0538smallPeachCherokeeGypsy44 on Mar 19, 2011 09:25 AM

Finally, omg, 14+ hours. Definitely not a high point in my Tanga experience! :-)

  44. Tanga_shadow_goat_2-fpAceshiella on Mar 19, 2011 11:48 AM

yep, going to sleep did it! looked at my scratch pad and realized I'd had the answer before I zzzz''''''''''''''''''''''''''''d
As my kids used to say "der on a stick"[ have no idea where it came from]
Thanks jebediehard! Please keep them coming!

  45. FileBananabeckyfogey on Mar 19, 2011 01:12 PM

I still don't know where to even start :(

  46. FileAceron76053 on Mar 19, 2011 06:58 PM

You solved this puzzle in 23 hours, 9 minutes and 34 seconds and were the 240th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.

  47. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Mar 19, 2011 11:24 PM

[9] Yeah, Donimo... when I saw this one, I was a bit jealous. It's always great when you hit upon something like this... and then it actually pans out for you.

  48. KittylolxRocketjohanna on Mar 22, 2011 09:16 AM

If I could subtract the right numbers!!!
