This would have worked as a OWW. That's what I thought the answer was.

Thanks for the (good AND bad) comments guys. I have at least a dozen OWW's in the queue but this was my only Crypto (that I put into the queue months ago). I've waited to make a 2nd to first see the responses of those solving it (in case you don't like this style).

This puzzle was sort-of a response to duckpond's discussion thread regarding the recent Cryptos being easy/boring for some. I thought I would try to spice things up just a bit and see what the response was.

Odd phrase, but clever puzzle. Even though I generally dislike pop culture references and have no special love for the final answer here, there was something particularly fun about the puzzle itself. It made me smile.

[13] Yeah! I like cryptos that don't have the same tame flavor every day, too.

I thought this was well done. I had to write it down (especially that bottom left clue) and even though I had the wrong word for the first clue, it all fell together very easily. And I even spelled it right first try! :)

This puzzle was easily the best one of the night. But tonight that really isn't saying much...

Hard puzzle tonight. I earned my "blah" potato.

Like I said in [13], keep the comments coming (even if they're repeats, even if they're negative) ... I'd like to know whether I should contemplate making more Cryptos like this.

[18] I want to say congrats, but I have to qualify it with a, "congrats, but I'm sorry..." (the potato is probably the ugliest icon you can have).

That was funny. I liked the last clue. I don't want the cryptopix to turn into the OWW though. Because I still have never figured out a OWW.

I thought the puzzle had good cluing, Adam. I see how this could be thought of as a OWW, since the answer sounds a lot like another clue.

I especially liked the way the "tough actin' " clue worked. Nice tie in with the following picture.

I also wouldn't mind feedback on this: Do you think the red-letter clues below the lower left image and the bottom middle image were necessary/helpful? I felt it read OK without them, but I decided to add them in for fear of Philana's wrath.

PS. Just kidding Philana, I only say that because I believe you to be extremely good with phonetics (and you occasionally play the role of phonetics-police when appropriate)

I liked it, took a while to get it to roll off my tongue correctly, plus spelling issue on my part. I agree, it has a Wheel of Fortune feel to it, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I thought this puzzle was clued very well. With the exception of the first image. The first image isnt really clear what is being clued, in my opinion. Is it slime? Is he making a mold of his hand? etc. There are too many synonyms for the word you were cluing that could have worked for that image. I happened to luck onto the right word right off the bat, but solved it without the first clue. the rest were so well clued that the first one wasnt necessary to solve. As to the necessity of the red clues, I think they were necessary and nothing wrong with their use here. Not really sure why people are saying this should have been a OWW as this has way more than one word in the answer. This worked very well as a Crypto. Who cares if it wasn't a phrase. Most of the cryptos arent common enough phrases to recognize anyway.
Oh, and the cluing provided by the last image is absolutely perfect. Keep up the good work.

[31] I believe people were thinking that the puzzle could have been tweaked slightly (or perhaps used as-is) to give the OWW answer "Skylar" ... which would have also worked just fine (but I make so many OWWs, I wanted to try making a Crypto for once; one that I found interesting).

I enjoyed it - I can't imagine what the OWW is... so I'm glad it is what it is. Thanks

ouch... gotta say that was way too large (IMO).... I'm probably just the opposite of jj's [31] , that I personally think if you had left off the part at the end, and had a "two word answer"... the entire idea of the puzzle would have worked SO MUCH better...

I do agree, crypto's should also have the chance to be like OWW's on occasion.. just for differences

Once I figured out that the first clue wasn't what I thought it was and then figured out how to spell the last clue correctly, then I got it. For a first time Cryptopix, you clued like a pro, well done!!!

I love that the meat of the answer was summed up in ONE picture, while the rest of the lengthy puzzle was just garnish. Good puzzle.

And no, "Cooperrider" is not part of the answer.

I've tried submitting my answer many times in different spelling combinations and still no dice. Help?
