Once during Black History month years ago, I saw "The Meeting" a one-act play by Jeff Stetson on our local PBS station. It was about a clandestine imaginary meeting between Dr. King & Malcolm X which "occurred" shortly before Malcolm X's assassination. If I remember right, it was black & white & riveting. If you ever get to see it - you really should. To read the 1st 6 pages, check out:

[9] I think the dream is one that lives in all of us.
Thanks to MLK Jr. for sharing it and to Mahalia Jackson for encouraging him.
And thanks to Arnott for the puzzle and the story in the solution text.

Thanks for the history lesson. It was all news to me.

Edit: About the guy on the top right-- I thought he was looking at his feet the way pregnant women wish they could look at their feet. So I'm thinking he's saying to himself, "Boy am I happy I'm not pregnant". Unfortunately, that didn't help me solve the puzzle.

[13] Same here. Perhaps a thespian after the curtain would have been a better choice.
